EA App stating I don't own a game.

I'm having an issue where the EA App says I'm trying to play a game that I don't own, despite the fact that I DO own the game and have been playing it for several years without issue, even when the EA App was installed.

I tried looking up similar issues with other people but only found more complaints from years ago. There WAS this one discussion , [Old Report] EA app saying I don't own the game but the solution provided here no longer works.

Please help.

  • Ok, so, I was able to chat with EA Support regarding this issue and after a bit of discussion, this is what finally worked for me:

     

    1. Ensure that the game, EA app are closed
    2. Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time to open the Run Window 
    3. Type or copy and paste "%ProgramData%\Electronic Arts\EA Services" without the quotes and spaces into the Run Window bar and press ENTER 
    4. Move the License folder to your desktop (EA Services folder should be empty) 
    5. Start EA app and launch the game

     

    Moving the License folder to the Desktop just recreates it in the directory you moved it from. The game should launch once you do this. If it does launch, feel free to delete the License folder you dragged to the Desktop.

  • For more context, the issue is happening with all the games in the Mass Effect Trilogy. The old one, not Legendary Edition.

    Mass Effect 1 and 2 both forced me to log into my account again after being launched and then worked fine, while Mass Effect 3 pops up with a window telling me to either activate my Product Key or log in.

     

    I first try logging in, and the window says it couldn't activate the game and told me to activate the Product Key instead.

     

    When I click "Enter Product Key", I get an error saying that my computer is offline, even though it definitely isn't.

    If you don't see the game on your library and you're sure you're logged in to the correct account, please contact EA Help Support so they can check your account and assist you further with this.
