@madds0804 Go into Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 and delete the file labeled Version.tag.
Hi - I was hoping somebody could help me on here as EA Support has been useless. I have a number of EPs on my Sims3.com account but they won't transfer to Origin so that I can play on Sims3 64bit & Metal version. In Origin it has listed that I have to Download one version and then another version is Unlocked (image attached). Could someone give some insight? Thank you
@angi3b33 It looks like Generations, in your screenshot, is already installed. Is it not loading in-game?
The two copies of a given pack in your and most players' game libraries is a side effect of the way the 64-bit versions were added to people's accounts. There's only one version of each pack, it just appears twice, once as a useless entry that says "unlocked." There's nothing you need to do here.
If you happen to own a pack that only shows up as unlocked, no second entry with a Download button, you'll need to contact EA support (again) and request that the "entitlement," as it's called, for the 64-bit version of that pack be added to your account. Despite what support may have told you, this is simple, and support reps have been doing it since the 64-bit version was released.
I tried playing the sims 3 pets(the base game is 64 bit) but when it clicked on the play icon it says " the game cannot be started
you base game of the sims 3 is not compatible with the current sims 3 expansion pack. update your game via the launcher" but I don't know how to update the game via the launcher. I've updated the base game on origin but it doesn't work. so is there any way to update an expansion pack@AmySims555 If you're running the 64-bit version of Sims 3, there's nothing to update. Instead, please go into Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 and delete the file labeled Version.tag.
Hey all, any help would be appreciated.
My girlfriend has owned Sims 3 on Origin for Mac for years and she just got OS Catalina. So yesterday we downloaded the new 64 bit Sims 3 and all the expansion packs she owns. When we click play in Origin the game launcher boots as normal, however when you click the play button in the launcher it closes and an error message pops up "Unable to start game. Your The Sims 3 Base Game is incompatible with the current Sims 3 Expansion Pack. Please update your game via the game launcher." She has several expansion packs all, including the base game, purchased legally through Origin.
I've gone and updated the game within Origin and it says the game is up to date. It also may be worth noting we're trying to run it off an external hard drive. Origin is installed on the hard drive and it installed the base game + expansions all onto the hard drive.
Again, any help would be appreciated; I'm not very well versed with Origin.
ThanksHi this happened to me. Logging out of origin and restarting my mac then logging back in worked, although I'm assuming you might have already tried that. Also try going in to Finder>Documents>EA>Sims 3> and delete the file called Version.tag then relaunching origin.
- @SimmerSince2002 So this fixed it, thank you for that. It is now turning my screen to 4:3 and giving me the beachball loading cursor indefinitely. Any idea on why that would happen? maybe because its running off a hard drive?
@EmmaVD Please start a new thread for that issue; this one is for the specific error you were seeing. Please also attach your deviceconfig.log to the post; it's in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3. (You'll need to manually open the folders; the file won't show up in a search.) You can delete your user and computer names, about 25 lines down, but there's nothing else in that file that can identify you.
Sims 3 Metal and accompanying Late Night expansion pack is installed and updated, but when I try to play, the game claims I need an update for it to work. It takes me back to the launcher, which says the game is up to date. Repeat. I have called Tech Support, who said they sent me an updated Late Night expansion pack and it was ready for me to download. I did so. I'm still having the same problem. I have uninstalled Late Night and tried to run just the updated base game. Same problem.
