Re: Cats and Dogs Missing PC DVD ROM

It was stated on the Box PC DVD ROM and MAC Download. The whole reason for the order was the PC DVD ROM. All my previous Sims 4 expansions have had this on the DVD Box Cover and contained the DVD. This appears to be a cost cutting measure by EA/Origin.

    Hi @Modemsoft

could you post a picture of the box. What country are you in ?

    Tagging @EA_Mai for this one.

EDIT: Checked a few stores in my region and I they are all sold as code in a box although they have the dvd sign on the cover. It's a bit misleading, I agree.

  •  @EA_Mai Hi, not sure done this right ! Picture attached of DVD Cover. I am in the U.K. Just had a long (Chat) conversation with EA. Went round in circles. Denied EA problem etc.... Waste of time trying to get any answers. What is shown on the cover is what you should get, if DVD ROM then you get the DVD Rom, not just a code.

    Thank you for your interest.

    All the best

  • Just an update. Just received my Cats & Dogs game. All sealed on arrival. See attached pictures

There is a mention of a disc with installation instructions and the warning not to use it but instead follow the Written instructions.

It seems that the Instruction DVD was removed but for some reason they forgot to remove the warning not to use it. The disc did not contain Cats & Dogs. The Cats & Dogs Expansion are a digital download only.

You will see more and more games only available as downloads.

@jpkarlsen It's still false advertising in my eyes. It should clearly state that it's a code in a box like it does for the us version.

    @crinrict

Yes if it on E-bay was listed as having the whole expansion on DVD rom. Nothing EA can do about that though.

The Box itself only mentions a disc with installation instructions. That obviously had an error as can be seen by the warning not to use it.

No, it's the outside of the box that is wrong.

See, if I was to see this box in a store, I would assume it contains a DVD cause it says so on the box itself (I've encircled that for better visibility)

As a comparison, see the US box where it clearly states that it's a code in a box

So, it's not the ebay seller, it's the box. The seller probably didn't open the box, because you know, people like to buy their games sealed. Maybe there's a warning on the back, I do not know that but the front is in the best case misleading.

@crinrict fun fact: i was fishing yesterday in a brick and mortar store from a well known retailer in my country and i've noticed that the retail Cats and Dogs expansion had no mention about being a code in the box or if there is a DVD inside. Luckily, the peeps working there knew that it was actually a code in the box. Price was over the Origin price, so, that was a no buy, but i do get some nice prices from them from time to time.

    Hi @Modemsoft,

Unfortunately, we cannot help you in this case. When having a problem with a purchase of a physical box, you should reach the retailer who sold you that box to get a refund or a change. As you mention, that box should include a disc.

If the retailer is having issues with the boxes, then it's them who should contact their supplier.

    Cheers,

    -Mai

  • Thank You for the response. The retailer when I questioned them about the missing disc, said they had been told that EA had removed the disc. I gone back to the retailer and quoted your previous answer. I don't think I am going to get anywhere. Also it seems that people that bought the same DVD ROM disc boxes, from various sellers on Amazon have had the same issues as myself. This seems to be a widespread problem, which does not appear to down to distributor. Logic seems to imply that the PC DVD ROMS were removed or not inserted at the point of manufacture and/or packaging. I just find it strange. Anyway no one wants to take responsibility for this mess.

Thank You but not pacified at all. Just feel like the pig in the middle.

    Hi again @Modemsoft,

I understand this situation can be frustrating, and I'm sorry you found yourself in it.

However, as I was trying to explain, it's not something we can help you with as retailers are the ones responsible for taking care of this. That box should have a disc in it, as it does not and if the retailer received it like this, they would need to contact their distributor for assistance.

    -Mai

  • Hello Again, This is the reply from the retailer.

We can only assume that the respresentive you spoke to did not have the full details of this product. EA have confirmed to us that these are a code in the box only and no disc have been manufactured for this title.

    Kind Regards,

    ShopTo Support (The Retailer)

Can you confirm the above ? If so why has EA sent out DVD Boxes stating PC DVD ROM included ? I would consider this to be misleading advertising on EA's part, as there has been no mention that these DVD Boxes are PC Download Code only !!!
