Is there a way to recover a save version without having the game open?

So within the last couple of days, one of my sims save files seems to be corrupted (?) as it is crashing the game before I can even load into the main menu. I've seen some people talk about recovering saves, but it seems they've only mentioned doing it in game. Is there another way you can recover it without having the game open? My latest save backup is from March, and I've played so much since then.

My mods and anything I've downloaded have been taken out of my folder, so it's just the base game and the save file + versions I'm having issues with.

I just tried this in hopes it would work but as I go to launch my game I still have the same problem, after The Sims 4 title screen when the plumbob is spinning to load to the main menu it still crashes before I can get to the main menu.

So, you can try several things.  First thing I would try is see if a folder reset will work.  So, move the "The Sims 4" folder to somewhere else on your computer then start the game.  If it crashes when you do that, do a game repair through the EA App or a full uninstall/reinstall.  Then try again.  If it works, then copy the files from the old saves folder into the new one and try again.  If it crashes then, it's at least one save.  So, then start again with copying saves, this time copy only one save group (the save and all its versions) and see if one of them will work.  Try each group one at the time until you either go through them all or find one that works and doesn't crash the game.  It could just be that it's only one save causing the problem.  And then test with your mods.  We've had an update so make sure everything you have is up to date.

And sad to say, if none of that works to get you back into your save, then you're probably going to have to start over.

    Hope this helps.

I'm pretty sure its a save thing, since I moved my saves in one by one and when I added a certain one in it crashes. I've tried repairing the files as well as reinstalling but that hasn't fixed the issue. If I can't seem to solve it, at least I have a backup of it from March 1st so while it was a while ago, it still exists.

TwentyOnePockys  If it crashes only with that save, then that save has be corrupt, so you'll need to use another one, No other way around it in that case.   At least you have a backup that's relatively new.

    Hope this helps.
