College Football 25 - Launch Weekend Notes + Updates
Hey College Football fans, What a weekend! Coming off of the worldwide launch weekend of EA SPORTS™ College Football 25, we wanted to say THANK YOU! It has been a very surreal feeling for us to see the reception to our passion project. We have been taking notes over the weekend as we watched all the content and read all the feedback we possibly could on what all of you are saying, doing, and sharing with College Football 25. Last week, we shared a behind the scenes story about the tech that was built to bring College Football 25 to life, check out the College Football 25 Launch Week Kickoff Campus Huddle to learn more. This week, we’re here to let you know that our team is hard at work preparing updates and content for post launch to ensure delivery of the most authentic college football experience ever. For full details of future Title Updates, be sure to check out our Campus Huddle - your home for news on College Football 25! Before we share some known issues the team is tracking below for future updates, we wanted to talk about Rosters and Likenesses. As mentioned in the Campus Huddle above, there are some slight inaccuracies with rosters and likenesses that our team is looking to update as soon as possible as we work through summer roster movement that is natural to college football. For our very passionate Dynasty fans, you can hop in and play this week or wait for a roster update around college football kickoff for the most up to date experience. Also, one more question we want to answer: Yes, ratings updates for rosters WILL happen as we move through the college football season, so stay tuned! Our team is consistently tracking top issues and listening to player feedback. Below are some of the top known issues the team is working toward. AUDIO Incorrect commentary when playing as the first game of the season in Dynasty at Utah Florida State’s War Chant and Tennessee's “Rocky Top” are not audible when playing only on Xbox Series S LOGOS The following teams/conferences have incorrect logos: Stanford, UMass, Western Michigan, Jacksonville State, FIU, New Mexico, SEC, Conference USA, and the Sun Belt UTEP and Wyoming display incorrect athletic branding on their equipment in Dynasty Visual issue with conference patches when changing a small subset of teams Conference in Dynasty DYNASTY Before we talk about some things we are tracking in Dynasty, we wanted to provide some things to consider and clarity on the design intentions. There are many factors at play in Dynasty that can create ripple effects: Injuries, players going pro early, transfers, strong or weak recruiting classes, upsets, and more! The beauty of the mode is that two different users can begin playing Dynasty as the same school, but over multiple years, their College Football 25 worlds can develop notable differences. Dynasty is intentionally designed in a way where the backend systems will create organic and dynamic situations that lead to branching stories. We didn't want to have a rigid system that leads to all users experiencing the same situations and stories 5, 10, or 15 years in - the world of college football is dynamic and so is Dynasty in College Football 25. As for player feedback, we do see the feedback about the Super Sim Logic. We have been looking into tuning Super Sim Logic, including FCS schools potentially creating more upsets than intended. As for wider Super Sim Logic tuning, we will continue to monitor player feedback and the telemetry data from all users’ Dynasties as we gather more data. Our team has been thrilled to see so many fans share the stories they're experiencing, so keep it coming! Super Sim Logic Tuning: The team is looking into tuning of the Super Sim Logic, including FCS schools upsetting too many Power 5 schools Note: As we continue internal testing on the tuning of Super Sim Logic, Top 25 Polls & the College Football Playoff seedings will also see an improvement. Issue when adding additional teams to the PAC-12 conference when using custom conferences does not generate a new conference schedule as intended. Workaround: After adding teams to the PAC-12, open the Conference Rules and set Divisions to ON. Users will see they can now set the number of conference games by toggling back and forth. Users can then disable divisions and edit other settings as desired. Issue with modified conference rules not saving Workaround: Users can re-enter the Conference Rules screen to ensure their settings were saved and are valid. If they did not save, then the rules are not valid with their current setup. Occasionally, when a recruit reaches their Top 5 stage, it will not display the recruit is “Ready for a Visit” despite meeting the requirements. Recruiting Tuning: The team has planned additional tuning to recruiting logic. Small chance of a freeze when simulating individual plays quickly after exiting “Super Sim” Workaround: Wait a couple seconds in between simulating the individual plays before exiting Super Sim. Issue with the Practice Tile not initially appearing in the “Team” tab Workaround: Exit the mode and then re-enter. Current maximum cap of 20 created coaches instead of the intended 32 created coaches Note: The team is targeting Tuesday for an issue fix that limits Dynasty’s to 20 created coaches. A current work around is using existing coaches in the remaining spots to reach 32. Issue with some player's jersey numbers and/or OVRs changing when editing certain players gear. Online Dynasty: A high priority for the team right now is the issue of some players being unable to load into a previously established online dynasty. Updates on this issue will be threaded on THIS post from @CFBDirect as we get them. TEAM BUILDER When using a Team Builder team in Play Now, cleats are defaulted to Adidas regardless of selected brand apparel. Note: This does not impact Team Builder teams used in Dynasty Second custom image layer not appearing on the field Workaround: Add a second layer, then select a generic image, and then re-select your custom image. As mentioned above, this is just some of the top issues the team is tracking toward for a future update. A majority listed above will require an update to your console, or as we call them Title Updates - and we will be back with a full Campus Huddle for our next Title Update! Is anyone here truly happy with this game? It seems like the only people who are happy are those on a nostalgic kick and the YouTubers/other sources who are either A) nostalgic or B) bought out by EA. I really wanted to love this game. Truly did. I bought MVP for God's sake. But it just seems like one big F up. For people who said they absolutely love college football and wanted to do a service for it, and had YEARS to create a decent product, they screwed up big time. EA, doubt you bother to read anything from the community after the game sells (who could blame you when a lot of it is negative- deservedly so) but you all should be completely ashamed of yourselves. I have been playing EA College Football NCAA25 relentlessly over the last 2-3 weeks. As much as I'm happy college football is back in the video game space, it is sad to see that as you play more of the game, it just feels like an enhanced Madden reskin. Here are the noticeable issues and things that need to be fixed in updates ASAP, otherwise EA will continue to keep their reputation as a company that can care less about the customer base....see below: - AI logic blocking, both pass protection and up field - LB's and DB's not reacting to QBs scrambling until they are 5+ yards past the LOS - CPU pass coverage prevents medium to long passes, if you try they are intercepted or nearly intercepted 95% of the time - Play Action is impossible. Always leads to a CPU sack - AI logic on pass catching and DEF zone coverage. Too many times the defenders don't flow toward traffic - DEF man coverage just leads to streak 75 yard TDs for fast receivers - Defenders take terrible routes to ball carries as they blow by them to he never seen again - Heavily animation based and not physics based (as claimed). I see the same animations on tackling and from my WRs. I can tell when the ball is going to be dropped based on the same animation they use to catch a ball 10,000 times by now. - Commentating is getting repetitive quick and contradicts things they say only seconds away from one another - Dynasty simulation logic is trash. Way too many huge upsets - Low tier Conference winners getting top 4 spots in CFP bracket with ease - Glitch where I need to constantly reset my kicking to "Tap and Tap" - I don't get frequent points to upgrade my staff or coach abilities - No where to decide how to develop talents in my players, it's all just decided by CPU This list can continue. Did you all even have the developers talk with players, coaches, or have people test this game for thousands of hours before releare? Probably not, only care about the money. Something I really loved about the old NCAA games that I’ve missed in Madden is the ability to set any player at any position in each formation in dynasty mode. Maybe you want your backup HB in for certain formations by default. Maybe you want a TE out wide as a blocker in a specific set. Maybe you want to sneak a backup QB in for trick plays. Formation subs allow for lots of creativity, but it doesn’t seem to be in the game. Hey there CFB Community, Today, you received an update on all platforms for College Football 25. The team wanted to provide you with some notes about changes that came with this update. Fixed an issue where the scoreboards would disappear during a game. Fixed an issue for Offline Dynasty files where Freshman Players were not shown in the player list for position changes. Fixed an issue where the game would freeze when performing an Onside Kick in both Online and Offline Dynasty Mode. Fixed an issue where changing your schemes or playbooks would affect your players archetype and OVR based on your choice in Offline Dynasty files. At least give us some kind of timeframe when this is going to get fixed or just acknowledge the issue and let us know that you're working on it. I see many questions in these threads but not many answers. I was under the assumption that there was a Player Creation mode as they boasted about the thousands of options for different heads and hair combos ect- But from watching the you tube vids from people who have played the game by invite from EA this seems not to be true. Retire the Depth Chart from 25 Years Ago.
An OLB is not the same in a 4-3 as a 3-4. In a 4-2-5 an OLB is probably actually a weak side linebacker but could also be a rover, which this game forces as a SS. The problem is if you want to be multiple on defense, the depth chart doesn't translate between a 4-2-5 and a 4-3 or a 3-4. Similarly, a 3-4 OLB might be a 4-3 DE. It's really difficult to scheme on defense when I'm locked into a depth chart that seems to be based on a 4-3 defense. The 4-3 hasn't been common in football for years. The 4-2-5, 3-3-5, 3-3-5 tite, etc. are not conducive to how the depth charts in this game work. Maybe my rover isn't a strong safety. Maybe I have a linebacker that plays it better but I want to shift into a different set. That can get completely messed up because the way depth charts work is 4-3 or 3-4 based with no formation subs. A majority of the time, this isn't how defense work anymore. I'll add, they should consider taking it as far as play subs, because if I have a coverage linebacker playing rover and a speed rush linebacker playing viper in a 4-2-5, guess which one is rushing the passer?752Views12likes6CommentsUnable to change playbooks in Road to CFP
Just went into my first online H2H game in the Road to CFP. Noticed you can’t change your playbook, so I went ahead and picked Texas because that’s what I was most comfortable with. Then noticed when I got into the game, half the formations are gone. What’s up with that? I’ve played 6 seasons in dynasty but I’m frustrated at the lack of job offers and recruiting visit bug. I just finished my Road To Glory. I have no interest in Ultimate Team or doing another RTG. There has been no word from EA that they are going to fix the dynasty issues and the game has been out for over 2 weeks. Guess I’m done playing this game for a while. CFB 25 Patch Needs/CFB 26 Wishlist V1 Ok long read I know, but if these things were added/changed, in my opinion, it would make for the perfect CFB video game. I also want to see your suggestions. EA, please make this happen. Dynasty: 1. Create-A-Prospect 2. Player Editing (Jerseys, Heads) 3. CFB Historical Data (National Champions, Conference Champions, Heisman Winners, Rivalry Results, Coach Records) 4. Championship Banners after a team wins a championship 5. Coach Editing 6. Coach Skill Tree Level Increase/Fix 7. In-Game recognition and audio when a record is broken 8. The ability to change a program's culture/offensive and defensive style when you take over the program. 9. A better, more expansive "Top Stories" section. I'd love if EA could make a deal with Sports Illustrated and ESPN to bring back that feature. 10. A deal with ESPN, CBS, ABC, Fox, and NBC to bring us accurate broadcast visual packages and audio. Plus to have College Game Day return in the game would be amazing. 11. Conference Creation (Not just realignment). I'd love to bring back the Southwest Conference, the WAC, and the Big East 12. Schedule Creation. Changing the times for games, such as when a game gets flexed to a Prime Time spot. Also, the ability to change out conference games i.e. move the Iron Bowl or The Game to early in the season. 12. Bringing back the actual awards. 13. Bring back the infraction meter from back in the day. Although NIL exists, schools can still get in trouble, be forced to vacate wins, face bowl bans, and lose scholarships if they break rules or if the program integrity slips too much. RTG: 1. Changing the play at the line Equipment: 1. Fix some of the face masks for older style helmets to look correct. A few of the older VSR-4/Air Advantage face masks are too small and do not look good, such as the "2 Bar QB Single" or the "3 Bar QB Single" face mask. They should fit the helmet like the "3 Bar QB" face mask 2. Add the ROPO-SK face mask 3. Add the temperature meter for long sleeves and other cold weather gear 4. Add leg bands and leg sleeves 5. Ski-Masks 6. Helmet size selector. This basically would alter how a helmet sits on a player's head. An example is John Elway always wore a helmet that was a size too small for his head. Others wear a size bigger, thus changing the look. 7. Adding in a pre-snap animation where a QB will have his hands in the hand warmer as he comes to the line during cold weather games. 8. Colored Visors 9. The ability to change the color of the undershirt in accordance with sleeves i.e. I shouldn't have a red undershirt yet white sleeves. 10. Adding in an animation for the removal and insertion of a traditional mouthpiece. 11. Hey all, hoping some of these resonate with everyone, and wanted to give some feedback after 2 months of playing the game. Gameplay - Overall gameplay feels good, but would love to see these updates BUG: Curl routes completely bypass press coverage 100% of the time, please fix this exploit Pass blocking still needs work. Lineman logic when they miss a blocking assignment puts them in no mans land when they let rushers run passed them Shading inside/ outside should also shade the deep blue zones to more of the inside/ outside as well to help combat sideline fades and corner routes or inside streaks Please allow us the option to switch the read option handoff controls back to what they used to be in every other NCAA game, with A handing off and not hitting A keeping with the QB Please improve the initial blocking on HB screens from under center. Currently they are almost a guaranteed sack Please adjust the holding for passing plays. We use 53 holding on our sliders and outside runs seem to be the only play that gets called for a hold. Rarely for inside runs and never for passing plays The facemask animation never results in a facemask penalty even with 65 sliders Wide Receivers beat press coverage way way too frequently, even when their release ratings are inferior to the CB's press ratings In Dynasty, when playing teams at home in a tough place to play, fake snaps draw way too many offsides for the home team. It should be the opposite, where any attempt at a fake snap draws a false start. The whole concept of playing in a tough place to play is the offense can't hear themselves think, but yet the defense can hear a fake cadence? Dynasty - Needs some work. Feels very surface level and some core components need to be addressed. Dynasty Immersion This one is huge, but decent teams are still losing way too often against lesser CPU teams in Sim. I played a 2-3 90 Overall Nebraska team last night that ended with me (91 overall) losing a 45-52 shootout. In another league in year 3 Auburn is 1-6 (a user, me, was one of their losses). Why are these teams losing? There should be some initial logic for 85+ teams to have a very high win chance against any team lesser than them, altered slightly by playing in a tough play to play. This kills rankings and immersion and really needs work. Supersim needs to be able to be toggled on and off. We are in a "serious" league, and it's impossible to know when users are supersimming defense (because this is a proven cheese to get stops you couldn't otherwise get) and an option to turn it off in Dynasties would be nice Dynasty difficulty resets week to week. We play an AA league and every week I have to switch it from Heisman back to AA because of this glitch. I have heard it has something to do with each individuals offline difficulty setting, but whatever difficulty is set should always stick unless manually changed Crowd reactions to picks, fumble recoveries, 4th down stops, kick returns for TD's, bombs, missed field goals, long distance made field goals, and game winning TD's/ FG's need more energy from the crowd. This is particularly noticeable on missed FG's, Kick returns for TD's, and field goal blocks. The crowd needs to GO NUTS for these as they do IRL. Currently it is very subdued and kills the immersion Reece Davis' commentary... I read an article that he is re-recording. When will this be implemented? Currently I just mute the commentary when he hosts Dynasty Recruiting Recruiting decommits/ flips need to be clearly illustrated. Their have been several people on the various forums reporting that decommits happen, but it is confusing as to how and when and what the rules are surrounding it The ability to "hide" committed players from your active board would be nice The team needs screen needs work. Currently ambiguous and confusing. I need 1 WR and have 5 targeted and 4 signed. Does that mean I actually need 5 total? Why not always show the total you needed and let the user deduct signed from this themselves or better yet add an "Original Need" and "Current Need" field to better delineate? The visits feature needs work. Sometimes recruits will get locked for scheduling a visit with no explanation as to why. Already visiting another school? You have too many recruits visiting already? Currently there is no indication on why a recruit can't visit Visits need to be able to be rescheduled. This is especially important if you accidentally choose the wrong visit pitch, or decide you want to change the visit pitch. Currently the only way to change a visit is to remove the prospect off your board, which removes the scholarship, and then you have to go re-add them and reschedule the visit. Clunky at best Add the ability to decipher if you have already scouted a player you took off your board Currently if you scout a player, find out he's a bust, and drop him. When going through the player list to add players you can't tell if you scouted a player already or not. Sometimes the bust/ gem icon will show but I know for a fact in preseason it doesn't. a Yes/ No "Fully Scouted?" column would be a ice addition Dynasty Coaching Carousel Needs tuning. In future games this should be a "sell yourself" pitch style where you and other users can bid for the same job and make promises for beating rivals, having a certain win percentage, pass for 300+ yards a game etc that get you fired if you miss those goals. And those promises can tie into coach prestige, because if you constantly lie just to get a job your prestige should take a hit and make you less desirable to get hired Dynasty Offseason Please allow custom schedules to actually work Transfer portal is confusing. Is it just transfers? Or is it a mix of transfers and recruits who are still available from the regular season? You should be able to differentiate Do recruits you "encourage to transfer" actually go somewhere? do 85 overall QB's I encourage just disappear into the nether? Do recruits you recruited at a prior school follow you and try and transfer to your new school? This is SUPER common IRL and would love clarification Please leave Athletes athletes in position changes and let us make the call I was out of town for my last offseason in one of my dynasties. I put myself on Autopilot in hopes that the CPU would take over for me. I came back week 1 to find that the CPU added 0 recruits, scouted nobody, and put me WAY behind other users to start the year (that first week of 1000 hours for scouting is HUGE) I assume that the "computer recruiting" option or whatever it is called probably has to be on, but that affects the entire league and would most likely make decisions for users who don't want it. Anyone on autopilot should have this feature automatically on for them for obvious reasons Dynasty Menus A dynasty hub type tab where you can see all the updates for just users would be nice. Currently you either have to look at each team individually, or utilize the members section in dynasty central and it is clunky. You'd never know you were even in a dynasty without scrolling to that screen BUG: Sometimes Team practice isn't an option under the Team tab. It just disappears. It needs to always be available regardless of a game, bye week, or bowl Custom Playbooks Please allow us to reorder the formations in a custom playbook Please allow us to reorder the plays within a formation in a custom playbook Please allow us to remove Hail Mary as a formation, but keep the strategy Hail Mary scenario BUG: The 3-3-5 Mint is missing from Custom Playbooks as an option BUG: The 3-3-5 High is listed twice BUG: The 3-3-5 Double Mug is listed twice, one as 3-3-5 Double Mug and one as just Double Mug Please revisit how the playcalling strategy screen works. Going through and rating every single play with stars is clunky at best. I would love to just go through my playbook for each scenario, and simply select plays with A/ X instead of giving it a "star" rating. Currently you have to add a play, then go through your entire (unorganized) playbook and find it, then click A/ X to add it. It would be way better to just select "1st Down" as the scenario, then have your playbook come up the way it does when viewing "My Plays" in the Custom Playbook, and add them that way. In my opinion all plays should be considered equally and the star ratings get removed. Also, how do these star ratings even work? Is it frequency of how often they appear? How confident you are in that play? How effective it is? What is the point of having a 1/2 star play with a bunch of 5 star plays if that 1/2 star play will never jump the 5 stars? I have heard the rumors of a larger title update coming within the next week or so and it better be a good one. The gameplay is so bad, between the passing, offensive line, defending, tackling, it’s beyond unplayable at this point. I love this franchise. Been playing since NCAA 03 and I still keep my 360 for 14 when I’m missing it. Dynasty was stripped to the bare bones and it’s AGAIN another Ultimate Team grift for microtransactions from EA. Majority of this community wanted a Dynasty mode like the ones we are used to enjoying and it’s not clear we’ll ever get these bugs fixed and be able to enjoy Dynasty again. I don’t want to be this negative but will EA ever give us a glimpse as to what the plan is here or if they even plan on addressing Dynasty?
