Welcome to our NEW MC Help Thread! March 30 Note: Feel Free to JUMP to the Last Page!!! :) (EG) The winds of change are blowing. Deaderpool has some things in the works that are going to make a lot of the posts in the 170+ page original thread pretty obsolete. Time to give our hangout spot here a facelift. I'm wanting to make it mostly Players Helping Players, but, there's got to be a little room for chatter, too. Brief game updates. Cool things you've done with MC. Things like that. Feel free to join us! If you play with MC, or you might be interested in playing with MC, I'd love to hear from you. ;) I have more to do here, which I'll get to later. Most mod updates are reported here; updates that only add a translation generally aren’t. ----- THIS PATCH BREAKS ALL THE THINGS This patch will affect more mods than usual because it’s for a new lifestage, an EP with many new features, and a Live-mode Sim pie-menu reorganization! It will also break door, gate, and baby CC. Many modders have been posting that a lot of their mods will be at least partly broken. *** Assume all your mods broke. *** Add them back when they are cleared or updated. And please be patient and kind while waiting. ----- HELP ME HELP YOU This list takes a lot of time to maintain and is easier to manage if it’s kept to its purpose. DO NOT mention or hint at mods that break Forum rules (NSFW/18+, etc.). Please see below for other content that is also not reported here. “Cleared” reports can ONLY be accepted from modders (or people specifically designated by modders). Please don’t report updates that are still Patron-only. This is not a support thread. The Sims 4 CC Hair- Blonde Streaks Bug (FIX)
So i found out that the fix for the custom content blonde hair streak bug is to turn off laptop mode, however i had been experiencing very bad lag problems every time i turned it off so i gave up trying to fight it, however, i played around with the settings for a little bit and found that they DID reduce the lag a LOT, eventually it got to a point where my game was completely playable with reduced lag as well as having reasonably good graphics and those horrible blonde streaks in my CC hair were gone! The settings i use for my game are these: Sims- Very High Objects- Medium Lighting- Medium Reflections- Low Visual Effects- Medium Edge Smoothing- Off 3D Scene Resolution- High View Distance- Low Uncompressed Sim Textures- Unchecked Post Processing Effects- Unchecked Laptop Mode- Unchecked (YOU MUST LEAVE LAPTOP MODE UNCHECKED TO ENSURE YOU WONT GET THE AWFUL BLONDE HIGHLIGHTS!!!) I hope this helps some of you to enjoy the sims 4 custom hair while also having your game run smoothly 🙂 P.S: Screenshots are provided to show what the graphics and hair looks like in these settings! Deaderpool told me he isn't on these forums much, and lately I've been answering a lot of questions about the mod... sometimes after I've gone to his mod page at MTS for answers either in the docs or from him personally. You can't get much better, than straight from the horse's mouth. Long story short, @luthienrising suggested I should start this thread here, since I'm a MC Command Center cheerleader anyway. So if anything's confusing you in the mod, ask... I'll see what I can do to help figure it out. TBH I haven't been using it LONG, but I'm learning fast, and I'll never play without it again. The Forums are an extremely awkward place for LE support, and this is not a support thread. An LE report is not enough for most reports. It's an indicator for further testing. TO TEST: Back up your saves in case you save over or corrupt a favorite file while you’re testing. Check that the mod you're suspicious of is the most recent version, is installed properly (in the right-level folder, not two different versions when you're supposed to pick one, not duplicated, following any special installation instructions), and has everything it depends on (packs it needs, other mods it needs. A LOT of mod-related LEs are there because something isn't right about installation and requirements. Remove everything else but the mod being tested (and other files it requires for proper installation) from your Mods folder. Leave only the mod being tested and those other files it needs! This is the only way to be sure that the problem is not a conflict between mods or a misfire by the human-coded mods that interpret game LEs. Delete the localthumbcache file. If you don’t delete it, you could still just be seeing effects of a removed mod that are still in your game. Open your game and test to see if the mod is doing what it should in game. If it’s still broken, TELL ME HOW IT'S BROKEN and HOW YOU TESTED IT. I might ask you to "test vanilla" too. This means testing with NO files in Mods at all, ideally on a new save. Sometimes what seems like a mod problem (or even has an LE saying it might be a mod!) is actually a game problem. Vanilla tests help isolate the problem to the mod. Let the creator know too! They really would rather hear from an actual Simmer who can give them more details than find out second-hand from a broken mod report. In fact, you can tell the creator first and get confirmation from them that it's their mod at issue. Then come back and tell me. Please keep discussion to reports - there's lots of other places for general discussion of mods and updates. Please DO NOT report 18+ mods here! It's not allowed on the forums. Editing pre-existing sims relationships?
I moved a sim into another sim's household and I want to turn them from roommates to mother and child but I either get a "cannot edit pre-existing sim or the only options I get are "sister/brother, roommate or wife/husband." I changed their ages and the cheats are on both testingcheats true and cas.fulleditmode but it still doesn't give me the parent/child option.

Mods not showing up despite trying everything?
So I recently installed the Sims 4 again, and had to re-enable mods after the newest update. Everything was fine, so I went to create a Sim, only to be unable to pick traits or aspirations, which I looked up and found out it was a faulty mod or something like that, and after trying everything I just decided to restart my file. (Which meant backing up my folder before deleting it entirely and then starting the game, which restarted my game entirely). After that, I installed some new mods and kept some of the older ones since I'm pretty sure they weren't the bad ones. Though I've tried everything, none of my mods are showing up in the game, I won't even get the popup in the beginning. I have it checked to allow mods, I've tried restarting my computer, restarting my file, checking for bad mods, deleting them entirely. I've even tried running my first file, and even swapping the new mods with all the old ones, and they won't even pop up then. I had this problem when I first started playing, and was able to fix it, but I don't remember how since that was a few months ago. I don't have any subfolders, and all the mods are .package. I've edited the resource.cfg, even tried deleting it, but nothing is working. Any help?

This thread tracks Sims 4 mods and CC that have been "broken" or made obsolete by game updates or declared unsupported by their creators. It also tracks updated game mods and major updates to custom content. If you use mods, this thread's lists and ongoing reports can help you prevent game errors and help you avoid having to do a 50-50 of all your mods. My sims won't move or do anything
My sims seem to be stuck, the whole family! i have tried resetsim on all of them. I can still click on them and tell them they need to go to toilet and sleep, and sometimes it goes into their action box, but still nothing and its really frustrating. They are all complaining still and getting uncomfrotable. I have exited the game and restarted the pc but still im in exactly the same situation!

Please keep discussion to reports. Thanks! IMPORTANT NOTE: Mods that breaks the T game rating cannot be discussed in these official forums and will not be included in my list. Do not ask about or report on any of them here — it’s against forum rules. There are other places on the internet where things like that can be discussed. Personal Note: I’m “in” lectures four times a week right now (Calculus and Stats, if anyone’s interested). I’ll keep this list updated as frequently as possible, but just wanted to note this. FAQ Q: Is this particular mod broken/working? A: Is it a mod that would break the game rating? Nobody can answer that here. Is it on page 1, reported broken by a Simmer after the list was last updated, or reported compatible by its creator since the list was last updated? If not, then I don’t know. Q: Why is there a section for mods reported fine by the modder but not by players? A: Because a mod that seems to be working for you might still be broken in a way you haven’t yet seen. Q: When will that person update their mod? I can’t play without it! What am I supposed to do?! A: They’ll update it when they can, plus some prefer to wait for a pack to be actually out. Please don’t pressure the creators — it’s not going to make them update faster. Go for a walk, get a whole lot of housework over with, read a book, or play a different game. Q: My Sims are shiny. What’s causing that? A: For shiny Sims, start by eliminating skins and skin details. Generally speaking, though, if your Sims are looking all weird, some CC is broken. Q: Why does Maxis always break things?! A: Mods and CC speak to the game code. If the part of the code they speak to is changed by a bug fix or new feature, thos mods and CC can no longer speak to it. Maxis provides a lot of support to modders and CC creators, but the only way they could not break mods and CC would be by not updating/patching the game. By choosing to use mods and CC, you accept risks, including that your (unofficial) add-ons may become noncompatible. Q: Mod X has an update but you haven’t listed it. Why not? A: Either I didn’t know yet or the update is not to fix a broken mod or to include new pack/patch-related content. Most mod updates are reported here; updates that only add a translation and non-broken CC updates might not be. A big thank you to everyone who posted info here and elsewhere while I was on holiday till the 16th! As of the end of the 16th, the list is mostly up to date. A few notes to keep this thread helpful for others and manageable for me: Please keep discussion to reports of broken or updated mods and CC. Please test mods before you report them broken (instructions below). When you report them broken, please tell me how they are broken and how you tested. Please don’t report mods as working unless you are the creator or an official tester for a creator or you have a direct report from the creator. Please don’t ask about mods that haven’t been reported on yet or which mod broke your save. This is not a support thread. If you need support, please use the Discord support servers. Thank you for helping keep this list working! GAME-RATED CONTENT ONLY Mods that breaks the T-for-Teen game rating CANNOT be named or discussed in these official Sims forums. It’s against Forum Rules. Some creators of these mods also won’t be reported here depending on how sending you to their content works. Please see creators’ own social media. Also not listed: Mods/CC by people who copy other people’s mods/CC, copy other companies’ copyrighted content or trademarks, pirate software or openly support software piracy, or do not release free public updates within 3 weeks. TESTING FOR BROKEN MODS Before reporting a mod is broken, test it: Back up your saves in case you save over or corrupt a favorite file while you’re testing. Remove everything else from your Mods folder. Leave only the mod being tested. This is the only way to be sure that the problem is not a conflict between mods. Delete the localthumbcache file. This step is important because the file holds the memory of mods. If you don’t delete it, you could still just be seeing a mod conflict or different broken mod. Open your game and test to see if the mod is doing what it should. If it’s still broken, please let me know! Tell me how it’s broken and how you tested it, and let the creator know too. To test if a last exception (LE) is being generated and why, you can use TwistedMexi’s Better Exceptions and/or Deaderpool's core MC Command Center files. These files rarely break after game updates.
