Friends list not showing up or disappearing after adding

Xbox Series X/S 

After adding friends in Apex Legends, they accept the request but then disappear from my list immediately. I’ve tried restarting the game, reinstalling, and resetting my Xbox, but it doesn’t fix the issue. I can’t send invites or join their squad.
