@sithqifon I recently switch to steam, and I've not encountered any issues like this.
I'd advise you to verify your game files and maybe turn off the steam overlay, at least just to see if it was the cause of the issue.

• Rightclick on Apex Legends in your Steam Library -> Click on Properties -> Go to the tab Local files -> Click on verify integrity of game files...
• Rightclick on Apex Legends in your Steam Library -> Click on Properties -> Go to the tab General -> Untick Enable the steam overlay while in-game
