You can hardly get off the ground no matter your flying skills, the maps that have flying vehicles don't have enough cover to ward off non-stop AA's and a whole squad of stingers.
Maybe I'm crazy but the AA capabilities vs what flyers have available to deal with them is totally unbalanced and needs some calibration, come on lads.
pilots ruined the end of 2042 with the little bird, jets & stealth helo but now that they can't go 100-0 every round they're crying.
In my experience almost every air main is horrible on the ground. Without the safety of height, speed, magic flares, magic repairs and magic reloading they can't compete. Having to actually fight something that can kill you back, they panic, their gunfight reactions are bad and they get smoked. They only like killing people who are defenceless. It's why they quit if they don't get the air vehicles off spawn or get shot down more than twice.
If they actually liked fighting in the air they'd play War Thunder Air or DCS or Nuclear Option.
Its a combo of what you said and small maps. But generally, theres a high amount of AA capabilities. It takes a really skilled pilot to last long.
Actually LMGs do decent damage to helis. I have gotten kills on helis with them, and have been killed by them in helis. You're unlikely to solo one with an LMG, but you can finish off an injured one.
Add to that the exploit (because I really hope it's not intended) where you get painted from Narnia (spawn protective zone) and Bradley chilling there just lock to you forever, even when you use flare. Funny enough, a lot of time when you fly under radar it's not even working, I have been flying by legit touching the ground with the attack heli and I still get killed by locked missiles.... I'm someone that play a lot with planes and choppers, I have made good games with them even like a week ago, but now that people know every glitch and bugs, there are almost no ways to fly longer then a few minutes (you survive longer if you always escape as soon as someone start to paint you, but you can't do much, you have to stay close to spawn or mountains).

Go fly in the new map lemme know if you get out the spawn, dogfighting is fun and would draw me to a game like that but its a joy to be able to fight in an immersive, all-around combat experience with aircraft in the mix, where it's possible to get shot down by infantry as well.
It's just a bit much when 20 people are able to have stingers and their AA is sitting in spawn all game smashing you as soon as you get out of your spawn with no defenses possible. It's actually unplayable at that point, and it's a video game, balance is nice in video games.

That sounds like a good thing to me. If I play badly in a tank or as infantry I don't survive, why should pilots get to be bad and still go around killing people and getting long 0 death streaks.
I can appreciate your appreciation for good pilot skills and a challenged effort to survive. I think you're missing the overall point of this post though my friend.
It's about balance, not invincibility, as you can see above our friendly pilots feel the same way.
