My Sims 4 household saves are gone after the update from February 25th 2025

I updated my game earlier this evening. Only to start the game up and find that my household I was playing with on the 24th of February is gone. I checked my saves folder on my computer and it is still there, but nowhere to be found when I load the game. the Sims 4 seems to act like I've never played the game before. I do play with mods and made sure to update them before launching the game as well as taking them out completely before updating the game.

I'm honestly not sure what to do. I don't want to lose my save because I have been playing with this family for 3 generations and I have worked really hard to get this family to where they are.

If anyone has any ideas on what to do please let me know. I would really like to get this save working again.

  • Did you ever find a solution to this? I'm experiencing something similar :(

Edit: I fixed it!! I have no idea what caused the issue or why this fix worked, but it did! The only difference in the issue I was having compared to the one you were having was that Sims WAS registering one of my saves, but it was ANCIENT. The save it was registering was the "SAVE File" type and was named appropriately - "Slot_00000004.save", but the  "SAVE File" of my most recent saves were named as though they were back ups, "Slot_00000006.save-DESKTOP-T90SKGT" for me. I changed them to match the former, so "Slot_00000006.save", AND IT WORKED!

DISCLAIMER: I am NOT a computer savvy girlie, this was a total shot in the dark after hours of distress that just happened to work, but I wanted to share just in case anyone is moments away from embracing their clean slate and wants a hail Mary!

  • Sn0wy_LaLa  It sounds like the game is reading a different folder than the one that contains your saves.  The location could have moved for a couple reasons, which don't matter here if you're willing to use the new location, in which case simply move your saves to that folder.  Here's how to find it:

If you don't want your Sims 4 data in that new location, please list it and the location you'd like to use.
