The Sims 1 Crashes on Launch
I've just finished installing The Sims Legacy Edition and as you can imagine I was excited to fire up the game and dive into the nostalgia. The game won't even open. The Sims icon flashes up along the taskbar as if the game's about to launch, then disappears and immediately takes me back to the EA App. Is anyone else having this issue? Somehow it seems EA have even managed to break the older games now. :(Solvedalexspoom1311 days agoSeasoned Ace35KViews180likes454Commentsthe sims + the sims packs will not run
I've bought and downloaded The Sims + The Sims Packs but it will not run the game. It acts like it's going to, but nothing happens. I've restarted, run as admin, repaired the game files, and uninstalled/reinstalled the game. EDIT: I am on Windows 11. EDIT: This is about THE SIMS, not The Sims 2. If you are having issues with The Sims 2, please go to another thread so that EA staff and other people with this issue do not get confused about the solution.Solvedvampirejpg11 days agoSeasoned Traveler11KViews84likes159CommentsSims 1 and 2 rerelease on Mac?

This thread is for Sims 1 crashing on launch after the February 4 patch. If you're affected, please provide the a dxdiag, a vulkaninfo report, and an EA App error report ID. Please also post a screenshot of any error message you see, or note that you don't see an error. See below. For the dxdiag, click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop. From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons. For the vulkaninfo, click Windows key-R, enter vulkaninfo in the run box, and wait for the scan to finish (the scroll bar should stop moving). Click anywhere in the window and click ctrl-A to highlight all the text. Click ctrl-C to copy. Open Notepad and ctrl-V to paste. Save the file as vulkaninfo [your username] , upload it to a third-party filesharing site, and send a private message to EA_Solaire with the link. If you have a gmail account, you have Google Drive too and some free storage. Otherwise, Dropbox and Pastebin are good options. Here's how to create an EA App error report: https://help.ea.com/en/help/ea/ea-app/run-ea-error-report/ Please post the report ID in this thread along with your dxdiag. For the error message, if you have one, you can use Windows key-shift-S to take a screenshot. Attach it to your reply using the camera (Insert Media) icon included with the other formatting buttons.Solved7.2KViews12likes174CommentsSims 1 Legacy Crashing
Just bought the birthday bundle to get both the original Sims and Sims 2. I started playing the original Sims and only got maybe an hour in before the game crashed. Booted it up again and had the same issue. My computer is on Windows 11. The first time it crashed while I was creating a family. The second time was while I was in buy mode.vitreallis11 days agoNew Traveler6.7KViews22likes46CommentsIs there any way to buy sims 1 complete collection in digital download ?
I really want to play it again but i can't find my old disks and I don't have a disk reader anyway. I don't understand why they don't release it on origin like they did with sims 2.AlexandraAlllie6 years agoSeasoned Newcomer5.1KViews1like2CommentsRunning Sims 1 & 2 Legacy Editions on Mac M1/M2: Issues and Solutions
Hi everyone, I’ve been testing out the new Sims 1 and Sims 2 Legacy Editions on my M1 MacBook Pro (2021) and wanted to share my experience. These games are designed for Windows 10/11, but running them on a Mac comes with challenges due to the ARM architecture. Here’s what I’ve tried: What Didn’t Work: Parallels Desktop (Windows 11): Sims 1: The game wouldn’t launch at all. Sims 2: Showed a DirectX 9 error: "Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters." Despite adjusting Parallels settings (e.g., allocating 4–6 CPU cores, 8 GB RAM, and enabling DirectX), the VM didn’t emulate the required DirectX features correctly. Running dxdiag revealed that Direct3D Acceleration was disabled, and DirectX 12 Ultimate was marked as unavailable. Parallels Desktop (Windows 10): Couldn’t test this because Microsoft no longer supports Windows 10 ARM, and Parallels doesn’t allow it to be installed on M1/M2 Macs. Other Tools: I haven't tried any other tools, as honestly, I was antsy to play. Once I found Shadow PC, I decided to try it. What Worked: Shadow PC: A cloud-based x86 Windows PC solved all compatibility issues. Full DirectX 9 support, high-end GPU (equivalent to RTX 3070), and native Windows gaming. Both Sims 1 and Sims 2 ran smoothly without errors or tweaks. Next Steps: I plan to keep an eye on EA release notes and updates to see if future patches improve compatibility with virtualization tools like Parallels or Wine/Crossover. I'll update on this discussion as I find out anything new.itswhimsyb11 days agoRising Novice5KViews5likes13CommentsIs there anywhere I can get sims 1 ?!?
I love the sims games, and i'm working on collecting them all. I've never ever played sims 1, but I want so badly to play it. Is there somewhere online I can download the game with all packs ? Who actually works on windows 10 computers (my msi laptop has the newest update). My laptop don't have a cd room, and the cd's in general basically don't exist in norway :( So i'm really hoping someone knows somewhere I can get the game to complete my collection and finally try this game?4.6KViews0likes13CommentsThe Sims Legacy Collection: Will not launch
Hey all! I just purchased The Sims Birthday Bundle on Steam, and I cannot get the Sims (1) to launch. I'm on Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2. Hi, So I recently got a new PC with Windows 8 on it, and now I wanted to install the Sims 1. It worked on my Windows 7 computer, and when my brother installed it on his Windows 8 PC it worked absolutely fine! My PC however, doesn't even want to start the Setup!!! I click on setup, nothing happens. I try to fix compadability issues with it, nothing happens, I try to run it in Administrator mode; nothing happens. I don't know what to do, it's just the regular Sims 1 CD (No deluxe or so), and I really want to get this game to work! Please help!3.7KViews0likes7CommentsSims 1 Complete Collection Issues
I downloaded the game, but not any patches.. so that is probably the culprit. Since the website for this game has long been defunct, any idea as to where I would find them? Anyway, this is what happens. I make a family, move them in, and then all the loading begins (such as townies) because I am starting a new game. Then once I get to the lot, I click through all the start up messages and accept the help hints. Then I realize I am stuck in build mode, no ability to go into live and that my sim family is not there. I exit and go to saved sims, to find all sims I created completely vanished. I try again and it loads everything up like townies, the start pop-ups, and help screen all over again as though I had never played before. The same issue as before, stuck in build mode and sims vanished. Then I try a premade family and it seems to be working fine, only for me to get a glitch upon trying to save the game.... "There was an error encountered trying to save this house." I am using Windows 10. Please help, because it will make playing this a bit frustrating.3.4KViews1like8CommentsThe re-release Sims 1 and Sims 2 petition thread.
This a thread to try to convince Ea to re-release the Sims 1, and Sims 2. Here post why would you like them to re-release the games. Make videos and written posts. Make another expansion packs for The Sims, The Sims 2, and The Sims 3 to update the existing zodiac system. Make it Zodiac Traits and Acquired Traits. The followings specifically refer to Zodiac Traits. Make it three groups of traits: Sun Traits, Moon Traits, Rising Traits. There are the same 48 traits in all of the groups. Make the season be 7 days and the moon phase cycle be 8 days, just like in The Sims 4. Make each Sun Trait advance once every 14 hours, each Moon Trait advance once every 4 hours, each Rising Trait advance once every 30 minutes in the time system. When a Sim is born, he or she could have three different, or two same and one different, or three same traits. If a Sim has three same traits, then this type of trait of him or her is strong, and so on. Astrologers can give Sims good blind dates or bad ones. There are three sets of 48 types of actions for Sims. The first set is for Sims who have three different traits, and they have three types of actions from this set according to what traits they have. The actions in the first set are weak. The second set is for Sims who have two same and one different traits, and they have two types of actions from this and the first set according to what traits they have. The actions in the second set are average. The third set is for Sims who have three same traits, and they have only one type of action from this set according to what traits they have. The actions in the third set are strong. 01. Pisces-Aries Cusp Rebirth 02. Aries I. Child 03. Aries II. Star 04. Aries III. Pioneer 05. Aries-Taurus Cusp Power 06. Taurus I. Manifestation 07. Let's play with only 48 traits of only Sun Signs (48 weeks of Earth's orbit), Moon Signs (48 periods of Moon's orbit), and Rising Signs. For The 48 Periods, please refer to Personology (by Gary Goldschneider). Alchemists can change objects into coins or into trash. A small-sized bronze coin is for 1 simoleon, silver coin for 5 simoleons, gold coin for 10 simoleons; a medium-sized bronze coin is for 50 simoleons, silver coin for 100 simoleons, gold coin for 500 simoleons; a large-sized bronze coin is for 1,000 simoleons, silver coin for 5,000 simoleons, gold coin for 10,000 simoleons. Sims can pick up coins from the ground and deposit them in a bank, a piggy bank, and a strong box. When Sims are going to use simoleons in African, European, Asian cities, they must change them into African, European, Asian dollars. The exchange rate fluctuates every day. I have a 3840x2160 (4K) screen. When I launch Sims 1 Legacy Collection (Windows 11, Steam) the UI is oversized and pixelated, as if it were set to 800x600. Only when I manually set Windows to 1920x1080 resolution does the Legacy Collection's updated UI scaling take effect, where text is not pixelated, is much more readable, and the UI takes up less screen space. EA documentation says the release contains "updates for more versatile pixel resolution scaling on large monitors". It seems to only be working for 1920x1080, no larger. [It's scaling for large monitors but has been implemented in a way that is uncomfortable to view.] I am in no way expecting a 25 year old game to be pixel perfect native 4K, but it seems to be a bug that unless the screen resolution is set to exactly 1920x1080, the UI is scaled back up and difficult to view on high DPI screens. For a 2025 release I have freshly paid for, I should not have to manually set and unset my screen resolution in Windows to view it properly. See examples below. Here it doesn't seem like much difference but view them full screen on a 4K monitor to see what I'm talking about. EDIT: To clarify, I’m not talking about the Alt + Enter “scaling” which toggles through windowed view sizes. I’m talking specifically about the size of the UI itself in the game window, viewed in full screen, which greatly varies between 1080p and other resolutions. EDIT 2: The UI size itself isn't necessarily as much of the issue, but more that it's blurry, glitchy and uncomfortable to view and read in 4K. 'Oversized' was a subjective way for me to describe it, but it appeared that way to me on a large monitor due to how pixelated it looked in comparison to the smaller UI in 1080p (which has its own issues as described here, here and elsewhere). Windows natively to 3840x2160 scale Bad - oversized UI, blurry text, pixelated object sprites Windows manually set to 1920x1080 Good - UI as optimised for new release, legible text, better pixel scaling for sprites. But I had to manually set this before launching the gamejnhmthw10 days agoSeasoned Rookie2.1KViews1like26CommentsSims Legacy Collection won’t open
As the title says the Sims Legacy Collection just refuses to open, I press play and it looks like it’s loading and preparing to launch the game but then just reopens the ea app. My computer meets all of the requirements and why trying to find the vulkaninfo.exe application that they need for the supposed solution, I can’t find it. It says there is no application like that on my computer in the System32 folder. I really don’t want to have to refund the game and was looking so forward to playing it after so many years.MopsyDoo11 days agoNew Novice1.9KViews4likes4CommentsThe sims 1 wont launch.
