Sims 1 Legacy - Bad UI scaling on 4K/high DPI screen
I have a 3840x2160 (4K) screen. When I launch Sims 1 Legacy Collection (Windows 11, Steam) the UI is oversized and pixelated, as if it were set to 800x600. Only when I manually set Windows to 1920x1080 resolution does the Legacy Collection's updated UI scaling take effect, where text is not pixelated, is much more readable, and the UI takes up less screen space. EA documentation says the release contains "updates for more versatile pixel resolution scaling on large monitors". It seems to only be working for 1920x1080, no larger. [It's scaling for large monitors but has been implemented in a way that is uncomfortable to view.] I am in no way expecting a 25 year old game to be pixel perfect native 4K, but it seems to be a bug that unless the screen resolution is set to exactly 1920x1080, the UI is scaled back up and difficult to view on high DPI screens. For a 2025 release I have freshly paid for, I should not have to manually set and unset my screen resolution in Windows to view it properly. See examples below. Here it doesn't seem like much difference but view them full screen on a 4K monitor to see what I'm talking about. EDIT: To clarify, I’m not talking about the Alt + Enter “scaling” which toggles through windowed view sizes. I’m talking specifically about the size of the UI itself in the game window, viewed in full screen, which greatly varies between 1080p and other resolutions. EDIT 2: The UI size itself isn't necessarily as much of the issue, but more that it's blurry, glitchy and uncomfortable to view and read in 4K. 'Oversized' was a subjective way for me to describe it, but it appeared that way to me on a large monitor due to how pixelated it looked in comparison to the smaller UI in 1080p (which has its own issues as described here, here and elsewhere). Wish List Item: Please give us a choice with add-on packs!
The Legacy Edition came with the edition of certain "Packs" that were never a part of any of my disk games. Never. You could download the characters from the commercials, if you chose. I chose not to. I've never heard of this massive group of mutant/army/futuristic skins that fill my skin data folder. I would rather not a) have NPC Sims randomly spawn looking like that in any of my places (Downtown, Magic Town, Studio Town) nor b) have to scroll through endless amounts of non-desirable faces and outfits that are better suited to a war game than the Sims. Choice is a wonderful thing. It's much of the appeal of The Sims: You tell your story your way, you choose how to play, you even choose which custom content to include. Frankly, having these packs automatically included limits my choice. I pull them out of the folder and then the program "nags" me about needing file repairs. Not being able to trust that my files have not become corrupted, I need to periodically "repair" them, which means the EA app will reinstall them. It's time consuming, bothersome, and limits my enjoyment of the game. Please, please, please, EA, consider making this a choice - a tick box even, for installing the game. Sims and Sims 2 legacy collection
I bought the Sims and Sims 2 legacy collection and I didn't receive the bonus Sims 4 kits on either. The grunge revival or the throwback fitness kits. Amazon will not help me and EA won't help me. It has been a nightmare, Amazon says I have to contact ea the game developer and EA says I have to contact amazon the retailer I bought it from. I have tried to resolve this issue for days. Neither company is taking responsibility. They wont even try for a solution they just tell me to contact the other company there is nothing they can do.
Maxis prepackaged cc
Have any of you managed to successfully download the prepackaged cc that Maxis gave us to this new Legacy edition? I'm talking about the McDonalds kiosk and the Pepsi machine. Anytime I try to open the prepackage files it tells me the game is installed incorrectly. Any work around?
Unable to perform any social interactions between household sims
In the Sims 1 i played normally for a few in game days but suddenly I am no longer able to have the two sims interact with each other at all. controlling one and clicking on the other just brings up the message that there are no interactions available. i have tried restarting the game to no luck.
Z-Sprites clipping through walls (in cases they don't in Complete Collection)
While some Maxis/EA objects do clip in Complete Collection (the Livin' Large doors come to mind) many objects which do not clip in Complete Collection do clip in Legacy edition. "The Elegant Chef Buffet Table" from house party is a pretty bad offender. As do the backs of "The Oval Glass Wall Sconce". In fact, quite a few wall lamps have backs that clip when the front of the lamp is facing North West.
The Sims Legacy Collection launching problem
I usually get when trying to launch the Sims + packs a message saying that the ea app cannot launch the Sims + packs. I have all the other Sims games through ea app (that I own and no problem till now). I only bought the Sims Legacy Collection because I have the Sims 2 Ultimate.
Community lots not loading in Sims 1 Legacy edition.
I bought the legacy edition off of EA but none of the community or DLC lots have anything in them. I can load into them just fine, but there aren't any houses/ buildings and there aren't any sims. I've tried uninstalling the game multiple times and even "repairing" the game. I've even tried to moves some of the files around but haven't had any luck at all. Any help is greatly appreciated!!
The Sims™ Legacy Collection won't Launch - Crashes without error
Hello! I recently updated my PC to have a RTX 5080 graphics card and AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D processor. It runs Windows 11 Pro. After reinstalling The Sims™ Legacy Collection, it fails to launch. Crashing immediately, without any error messages. The icon just flashes in the task bar. I have been looking through the forums and none of the suggestions have been able to help me resolve this issue. I have tried the following: Have the latest version of the game installed Installed the latest windows updates Updated my graphics card drivers Configured windows to launch the game in low power mode Tried launching the game in Windows XP compatibility mode - as administrator Tried reinstalling the Microsoft redistributables from 2015 and newer. Collected my DxDiag and Vulkan info logs Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!
The Sims Legacy (Steam version) won't launch
The game won't launch at all. When I try to run it, the Sims icon briefly flashes in the taskbar for a millisecond and then disappears. Steam acts like it's launching the game, but then the Play button just resets. I’ve already tried the suggested fixes from the official EA forum including updating my drivers, but nothing works. I’ve also seen other users mention that the issue might be related to the latest NVIDIA drivers. Please investigate and release a fix.
Can some one help! WARNING; game flashes
So I have The Sims + The Sims pack and this keeps happening 😭. I tried both repairing and uninstalling and reinstalling the game and it's still doing this. Can anyone please help me! ( Sorry for the talking in the background boyfriend is playing the new battlefield😅)
Experiencing frequent lagging and shuddering after recent update for Sims 1.
I don't like having to complain on these forums but I'm not seeing any solution to the issues after these updates. My last post was about the UI scaling being too small and really difficult to see. This was the only issue that I really had apart from the game crashing whenever the burglar turned up. However, the burglar thing was resolved. After the last update I saw no improvement to the UI size but only more issues. Even when i changed the settings in the game. Since the update, my game is now lagging quite a lot and shuddering. It's jerky as and it was working completely fine before this update so its NOT my PC and I'm getting annoyed with EA assuming it is. It's not just me experiencing that. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game 3 times, I've removed custom content and nothing has fixed the issue. I'm disappointed because the sims 1 is one of my favourites and now I can't even play it because of this shuddering. Its just too frustrating. Edge scrolling still doesn't work now either when it did before the update. Can you please just figure it out and fix it already. Here's a tip. Before you release a game, get a whole heap of people from the general public to test the game on their personal PCs so you can see how it goes for all different systems/set ups. In fact, I'd be happy to test it for free myself with my friends. It's not hard and then you could release the games confidently so you don't have to be harassed from us gamers lol. I'm sorry but I don't understand how such a massive company doesn't consider this. If it's about the money, people will be happy to spend more if you give the people what they want. Simple.
Clone Drone Jr. charm doesn't work
I use the charm and create a clone that goes to school instead of my child sim, but the school grade still drops by one grade level which makes the charm useless. I googled this and found that "Due to an unpatched bug, the child's grades will still drop by one grade level even though the clone has gone to school." Maybe this old bug could be fixed?
“map_edit” cheat graphics not displaying (Sims 1 Legacy Collection)
Hi there, I’ve noticed that the graphics that used to be there when using the map_edit cheat in Sims 1 are now missing, and it’s extremely difficult to edit what tiles of the lot have placement permission or not, it would be nice to get this fixed.
Sims 1 Legacy too zoomed in and blurry
I've been playing since the Legacy version was released. I had relatively few problems and the scaling was fine, everything looked really nice still and was clear and readable. I just launched it for the first time in about a month, and suddenly it's all blurred and in terrible resolution. I've changed nothing on my computer, everything is the same as it was when I first played. Did an update mess something up, or did something else happen? I'm running Windows 11, 1920x1080p, new-ish graphics card (Nvidia model within the last few years). Basically nothing has changed, I haven't even changed any system settings.
Russian language in The Sims 1 Legacy
All The Sims games were translated to Russian except The Sims 1. Now you have published the game again as The Sims Legacy Collection and didn't included Russian localization in it? This was a perfect opportunity to include the all languages, introduced in The Sims 2 like Russian, Czech and Hungarian. Russian speaking community is one of the biggest, still the Finnish language (with all respect) is included and Russian is not. AT LEAST UNBLOCK THE RUSSIAN LINES IN-GAME so we, the fans, could translate the game properly. The Sims 1 has a separate space for Russian language lines, but it is disabled in .exe file so if you edit the text in Russian field by IFF Pencil, for example and save it, change Registry keys to Russian and it just loads English text. And replacing the English text is not the best way to do it, so please EA unblock that language technically.Remove regional differences in NBHD Screen / Unblock all music for non-US locale
Right now there is a difference when you play The Sims 1 Legacy using English language or any other: ENGLISH: the random track from \The Sims Legacy\Music\Modes\NhoodUS plays every time you visit the Neighborhood Screen, including: latin6.mp3 latin7.mp3 nhood1.mp3 nhood2.mp3 nhood3.mp3 - the iconic one which is absent in other languages ALL OTHER LANGUAGES: the random track from \The Sims Legacy\Music\Modes\Nhood plays every time you visit the Neighborhood Screen, including: latin2.mp3 latin4.mp3 latin6.mp3 latin7.mp3 so it basically plays Latin America style music even with European locales. What is the special need for this kind of segregation? in other the sims iterations there is small changes like clockwise or not road traffic, but not the music. Just include the all tracks in all locales, that would be fair. I think that nhood3.mp3 is the iconic one because the music matches the motifs of skill leveling up notification sound. And it exists only in English version. I'm also not sure that there is any sense at having different images with this black (World) or gray (US) asphalte roads in NBHD Screen like NScreen_unleashed.bmp and NScreen_unleashed_nonus.bmp from \The Sims Legacy\UIGraphics\Community. The black looks closer to the actual in-game lots using black asphalte tiles, and the US version has the gray asphalte and the road marks. If only black version could have these marks it would be perfect. Right now black roads looks unnatural without these separation lines.questions regarding a slur in the sims 1 and 2
hello, this post is more aimed at the actual sims team, but i want to confirm something as you have started reselling the sims 1 and 2 for modern devices. In both of these games, they have the g word ( a word used against roma people). Has this been removed from the games before them being republished?
