For me, after this update, performance actually improved.
Copied from the patch notes:
*Improved GPU uploading performance, which can increase performance stability and reduce missing models or textures for some players
*Launch argument -no_render_on_input_thread has been made the default for players with 8 or more cores on their CPU.
This improves performance stability and input latency, especially when paired with high-polling rate mice or controllers.
*It can still be enabled manually for players with fewer CPU cores, and it can be disabled with -render_on_input_thread.
Reduced CPU overhead of multithreading on machines with many CPU cores
That’s great it improved for you, honestly wish I had the same experience.
I saw those patch notes too and was hopeful, but in my case it made things way worse. Before the update I had stable FPS. I tried both -no_render_on_input_thread and -render_on_input_thread, but neither helped. Might be that the improvements work better on CPUs with more physical cores. :(
I’m on a 4P/8T CPU, so maybe something in the new threading model is hurting more than helping in that range.
