The Sims4 Multi platform DLC Gaming Issues

The Sims4 is currently on sale on the Epic platform and I am interested in purchasing it.
Previously, I was able to play the DLC of "The Sims4" purchased on both EA APP and Steam platforms simultaneously. Similarly, I purchased DLC-A in EA and DLC-B in Steam. By launching through Steam or EA, I can play both A and B content simultaneously.
I am very curious now. If I purchased DLC-C on the Epic platform but did not purchase it on EA App or Steam. In this case, do I have to launch the game through the EA App to play DLC-A, B, and C? Or can I start playing simultaneously through Steam or Epic.
Now, EA App and Steam can use purchased non repetitive DLC to treat "The Sims4" as a puzzle, DLC is a puzzle block, but purchasing it on the Epic platform does not achieve this effect. I will not consider purchasing DLC in the current Epic promotion. I will wait for EA or Steam discounts and purchase DLC that I have not yet purchased.

  • @AmakawaLazy  The way things should work is, you buy the content from Epic, you launch Sims 4 through Epic once, and the content appears in your EA App game library just as if you'd bought it directly from EA.  You could then install and use it while running Sims 4 through the EA App, or Steam, going forward.  In practice, this kind of setup sometimes has hiccups, and I wouldn't recommend it if buying through the EA App is equally convenient.

Thank you for your reply. I have already spent money to try it out. Although I purchased the Sims4 main game from Origin, EA defaults to the Steam version, which has caused the DLC of "The SIms4" that I purchased from the Epic platform and downloaded to my computer to not play successfully. I'm currently seeking refund services from the Epic platform.

@AmakawaLazy  I understand that you'd need to play through Steam, but you should be able to download your EA App-owned packs into the Steam install.  That should also include the Epic-owned packs after you launch Sims 4 once through Epic.

I realize this is somewhat convoluted, and a refund may be the best option here.  But in case you can't get one, you should be able to make the setup work with some patience.

@puzzlezaddict I know that. Launch through Epic to have the EA app read DLC permissions. EA download Sims4. Steam also downloads Sims4. EA can't download DLC purchased on Steam directly, you have to download it through Steam. Then I have two versions of Sims4 in my hands. The EA version of the desktop shortcut is called "The Sims 4", and the Steam version of the desktop shortcut is called "The Sims TM 4". I even linked my Epic account to my Steam account. But no matter which shortcut you use to play the game, you're going through the Steam side. Because I don't know what year it is, the upper left corner of Origin's display has the "Steam" logo and logo by default. I don't know how to change it to play through the main program on EA's side. It's not like Steam's recent home system, where you can choose your preferred version of the game. So, I gave up.

@puzzlezaddict I can now play The Sims 4 through Steam.
Today, I launched "The Sims 4" through Steam, but found that the DLC I purchased on EA cannot be played. Then I deleted both EA and Steam versions and only downloaded the Steam version again. I found that it was playable. Later, I purchased a DLC "MOSCHINO" from Epic and downloaded it. It was found that only the Steam version of the exe is left on the computer, and DLCs purchased from three platforms can be played simultaneously.
I am not sure if the EA version of the main game can work, as the EA app still encounters a "download error" issue when downloading Steam's DLC.
But you can play through the Steam version now, and you can also purchase DLC through Epic's discounts. This is really "planting flowers with a heart but not blooming, planting willows without a heart to create shade.".

@AmakawaLazy  I don't know what to tell you.  This is definitely by design, even if the design seems poor, and is unlikely to change.  We're not supposed to be able to download Steam-owned packs into an EA App-installed base game; it only works the other way around.  The Epic tie-in has been unreliable since the beginning.  I personally use only the EA App, much as I dislike it, because one problematic app to deal with is better than two and much better than three.

@puzzlezaddict Indeed, focusing on one platform is an optimal choice. But when buying something, I need to check if there are discounts on different platforms and take advantage of the discounts to buy the desired games. As long as this set of multi platform DLCs can support the logic of playing "The Sims 5" or other "The Sims like" games, it's enough. I don't expect too much.
