Packs Downloading even when told not to

Hello! I went and tried to redownload the Sims 4 Basegame after a little hiatus and every time I start the game, all of the packs I own (all of them up 'til lovestruck plus a few later) start to download. I have a laptop I'm using to game right now and i don't have the room for all my packs after my previous gaming laptop died.

I have turned off Auto updates, I have deleted the que, I've checked all my setting for some sort of reason for everything downloading, but I've come upon a blank.

Every time I start to play, packs download even with the "pause download during gameplay" setting turned on.

I'm starting to get quite irritated. Is it possible the latest curving stair update messed with some sort of setting?

Here's a list of pack folder names:

Before placing the files, make sure the EA App is closed and the EABackgroundService is NOT running in the Task Manager's background processes list.

  • Ra1nb0wF1re  To be clear, even if you cancel the downloads, the EA App will still try to download those same packs the next time you play?  Normally it's only necessary to cancel the downloads once, at least until the game is reinstalled or (sometimes) updated, or the EA App is reinstalled or its cache is cleared.

If these don't apply and the App keeps trying to download the same packs, there's a sort of janky way to prevent it.  This is unsupported but has worked for other players.  Let me know if you're interested.

Yeah, that is exactly how it is. I enter the game, packs start downloading. I have to pause the downloads if i want to keep playing (straight up canceling them while the game is open causes crashes) and cancel them when I'm done playing. The next time I play the same process repeats. This wouldn't be an issue if the problem didn't repeat.

I've been playing on and off since my old laptop broke on July 26, 2024 and every time I've redownloaded the game since then, this has not been an issue.  So I'd at least be willing to hear some sort of solution.
