Update 11/ 4/24 - Sims game won't open and returns to EA app Homepage

Hi I went to play Sims 4 today, and it had me download the latest update. Since I went to open the game and it start to load, then flashes to the white screen and then returns to the EA app homepage like the game hasn't been opened. I am on a PC, no mods, moved my Sims files to my desktop, uninstalled both EA and Sims 4 and reinstalled, have done multiple hard shut-downs and restarts, all to no avail. trying to submit a report directly to EA but can't find a way to do that :(.

Any advice or is this happening to anyone else post update? Haven't been able to get into my gameplay at all to even see if my packs and game progress are still there.

I'm having a similar issue. Maybe a bit different but maybe this will help?

My game is not opening and either acts like i never tried to start it or it gives me an error saying it can't find the file.

When I try to repair the game, it gets hung up and says that it can't create a folder. this is working for me -

    • End Task on all EA processes
    • Go to C:\Program Files
    • Right-click on Electronic Arts
    • Click on Properties and go to the Security tab
    • Make it so ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES is set to Allow for both Full control and Modify
    • Click Apply
    • Restart your computer
    • Open EA and Repair the Sims game

Good luck! I hope they'll release a fix soon that'll clean up some of the issues. Let me know if you find anything else that works 🖖

If tried this method multiple times and unfortunately it hasn't worked :(

  • Triggerfish52  Please try changing these settings:

    Game won’t launch | EA Forums - 4992631

If that doesn't help, try this:

Managed to fix my problem where it crashes during launch after update | EA Forums - 4998584

If that doesn't help either, please provide a dxdiag.  Hit Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

  • Triggerfish52  Did you ty my suggestions as well?  This is a fairly common issue after the last major update,  and most players who have it have managed to fix it with one of these changes.

I have no idea what a dxdig is. Is there a way to contact EA Directly, seems like everyone is having this problem

  • Triggerfish52  I explained how to provide a dxdiag a couple of posts ago.

And yes, there's a way to contact EA directly, but the support reps usually deal with account issues and don't necessarily know what to do with this kind of problem.  Still if you want to try, start here.

By the way, not "everyone" is having this problem, just enough players to have established a pattern of sorts.  It's not nearly as common as it would be if this were entirely a game issue.
