What happened in your game today?
Hi everyone! I hope you're all enjoying the new forum so far. I know I am!! I'm Charla, a big fan of The Sims 4! ☺️ I was going to join on the old one, but, as it only had a week left I decided to wait until today. I loved lurking on the what happened in your game today thread so I thought would create a new one here. So what's happened in your game today? Today in my game I was playing as a character I created, Lauren Lord. She's an young adult, who dreams of being an author and a mom. Currently she's working as a school teacher, but today she had no work, she stayed at home and played chess and tended to her plants (when it wasn't raining!). A Question . . . May I Have a Show of Hands, Please?
I have, again, reached a crossroads in my Cantrell Chronicles Reset story. I've noticed there is a bit of a fall off among those who once were reading. Currently, my mindset is simply to sum up their future ending with, and they all Lived Happily Ever After, and call it a day. If you wish to read more of their daily adventures, I will need that show of hands. This was my grown daughter's suggestion when I told her my mindset. As I have stated before, a Writer is nothing without Readers. Yes, I'm writing primarily to keep up my writer's skills, but still knowing if what I'm writing is interesting and worth the read, also helps. So, please let me know. Depending on how many likes this thread receives will help me decide. I shall always treasure those who have been reading and responding no matter what. Do you ever capture pictures from fun or awkward situations in your game? Often my sims will make me smile just because they did position weirdly, making a totally normal situation look funny. - Hello again, Hairdresser, I got a complaint! Your solution turned out to be unpractical. Are you sure I can't have a ponytail, without the horse?
Anyone else playing Sims 4 with an AI as a co-narrator?
Curious if others do something like this, because it's completely changed how I play. I use Claude as a game master for my save. I've built a set of files I paste in at the start of each session: character cards for my Sims (personality, relationships, what they know about each other, ongoing storylines), a "world" file with the town's places and everyone's daily rhythms, and a set of meta-rules for how the AI should run scenes (it controls every character except mine, keeps the story moving on its own, doesn't ask me "what happens next", etc.). On top of that I roll actual dice to add randomness and drama. After each turn I roll a few dice that decide where an event comes from (a present Sim, someone off-screen, the location, the past...), what form it takes (a confession, a request, a sudden twist, an escalation...), and how well it goes for my Sim. A 2 is a catastrophe, a 12 is a miracle. Some of my best storylines came from rolls I really didn't want. The setup is two windows side by side. In one, the Sims 4 is running and generating events like it normally does. In the other, Claude is running the scene: I briefly describe what's happening in the game, paste in the cards of whoever is present, and then we play it out with dialogue, reactions, little side conversations between NPCs, and so on. Example: I throw a party. I paste in the cards of every guest. During the scene the Sims actually talk to each other, react to each other's history, take sides, start things. Two of my Sims who barely spoke in-game ended up with a whole backstory of a fallen-out band project purely from the AI scenes. After each scene I write a short summary and add it to the files, so the AI remembers what happened and references it later. Old grudges resurface, promises get called in, the town gossips. It really feels like the Sims have inner lives now. Does anyone else do something like this? I'd love to hear how you set it up, what tools you use, or any ideas for making it better!

The other day I was realising that I did not yet explore the possibility of dynasty alliance/rivalry yet. But then I wondered what my dynasty would actually gain from it, besides the story telling aspect. Did you make alliances or rivals yet? I can see the alliance might be positive just from interactions between memberes of the tw dynasties, but why should my dynasty initiate a rivalry if the only consequence is negative? I think there might be somehing I'm missing. What did trigger you to form rivalries between dynasties? Like what would King Tarriot gain from allying with the guy in black, and what would his royal dynasty gain from starting a rivaly?Townie Fashion Police
Sul sul, Simmers. Townie Fashion Police was one of my favorite threads in the "old forum." It was always good for a few laughs. Z and I think it's time to bring it back, and so does our friend Daniel. Raising a child in the Sims 4 has become quite complex and challenging. Seasons and Get Famous brought us after school activities. Our child sims can join Scouting and Drama clubs. Reaching the highest rank in scouting awards your child the Scouting Aptitude reward trait which boosts skill gains by 25%. Parenthood introduced Character Values: Manners, Empathy, Responsibility, Emotional Control, and Conflict Resolution. Achieving high or low levels in these values will lead to a corresponding Reward Trait in the young adult stage. Growing Together featured Childhood Confidence. Developing high confidence in the childhood stage leads to high self-esteem when aging up to teen. Growing Together also introduced Milestones. While completing all Milestones isn't required it does allow you to keep track of all the key moments in your Sim's life. And in Adventure Awaits our child sims have the opportunity to experience Formative Moments, challenges that grant permanent reward traits. So let's share our child sim moments, ask questions about features, and see if we can make them the best they can be before aging up to teen.
