I bought the game june 2016 and I've never been able to open it, since origin keeps telling me that "the sims 4 is already running" with the errorcode:

I've already tried reinstalling origin and resetting it. I've checked my task manager and it is not running. I've gotten a new macbook (the touchbar one) and it still tells me that the sims 4 is already running. Help me, please

izzypound0447 see the solution in the opening post. Your game cannot access the Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 folder. The game is not running, the error message is completely inaccurate.
Hello! i'm really struggling with the same problem. i have just purchased a 2020 macbook air and have had the sims 4 on a windows device and have just tried to download it on my mac. i have never had any issues with the sims 4 on windows but it wont work now using a mac.
i have tried redowloading it and everything. Getting really fed up and nothing will work. I dont understand how it says its already running since i have only just dowloaded the game ;/
any help would be much appreiated i know this post was a long time ago.

i have tried to open the sims 4 game and it says already running however its not showing and when i go back into the app it lets me launch the game again but it still says running. i have reset my computer multiple times and also tried app recovery.
The change over from Origin to the EA app seemed to go smoothly, no obvious issues, but when I click on the EA app to open Sims 4 it claims there is an error and that it can't open the game because it is already running. This is deeply frustrating.

I play on Mac (using the EA app), and it had been working alright. After a while, I noticed the "The Sims" folder was missing. (I tried to download new mods, only to discover the "Mods" folder didn't even exist anymore.) Nonetheless, the game would run smoothly and actually use mods, but I just couldn't find where it was reading them from. I tried deleting all the game files, including the EA app's files, to reinstall it, thinking it would help (it did not). I still don't have the "The Sims" folder, but now I'm facing another problem: the game itself won't even start. I've seen one of the possible solutions to the "already running" problem is to move the folder to the desktop, which is quite amusing in my situation.
If anyone has any ideas about what I can do, please share.

I just purchased Cottage Living, but I can't launch the game anymore cause it says it is already running. I have a Mac, and I have tried everything: repair the game, uninstall and reinstall it again, save the folder on desktop, etc.

Hi, I just got a new Mac air and I download the EA app and in it the sims 4. Whenever I try to launch/play sims4 it says: sims already running and the some random numbers ive tried dellyting all my mods and many other things nothing has helped yet please someone help?
Hello, I'm someone who plays Sims 4 using MacBook Pro. I've tried working Sims 4 for the first time in a while, and when I start Sims 4 on the EA app, it doesn't even show the start screen and won't run. When I put the mouse over the Sims 4 icon, it says the application doesn't respond. I deleted and reinstalled Sims 4, and I also deleted and reinstalled the EA app. I rebooted my laptop several times, but it doesn't work. What should I do? Please help.
Sooooo, Got myself a new macbook and wanted to install sims again. And well it won't open the game it gives me an error added the foto's (sorry all in Dutch)
But basically the error with al the numbers in the bottom says (Unable to start game is already running) but no it isn't I have checked all possibilities of it already running but it doesn't.
The second error is with the folders where it says again in Dutch "fout" which means error.
And the third is me trying to delete the files all together since nothing is working and it just say can't delete sims needs to be downloading.
Have tried load of the given option from this forum non seem to be working, using repair in the EA app also doesn't work ben trying for 5 hours now and nothing seems to work.
Any help would be appreciated especially from EA since this never happend with Origins and seems like a lot of problems started with the switch of Origins to EA
I just downloaded the game and got this message. Haven't even logged a single second in the game. What gives?
ETA: Followed the suggestion from Bluebellflora to give EA game (not origin, as I am playing on higher than sierra/high sierra/mojave) full disk access, and to give the sims game access to folders and no change. Same annoying error message.
ETA: Ran the repair function as mentioned in a Reddit post. No such luck. Still broken.
ETA: My solution was not the same as others. My computer must have crashed/something broke and my documents folder was an ALIAS, LOCKED and could not find the original. So i nerfed it (threw it in the trash) and a new one was created. et voila, the game runs.
