One Month One World One Year Challenge 2026
Hello and welcome. :) This challenge was started by Karababy52 (see more here) and I would like to continue it on for another year if I can. Hopefully more people can join in. The more the merrier! The premise of this challenge is pretty simple. The goal is to post one in-game screenshot once a day during the 2026 year. So, kind of like a 365 project for your sims. You will start out with a teen sim and pick your starting world. I'll share a list of suggestions, but really you can pick whatever you want. Your sim will be a teen for 3 real world months, then age-up to Young Adult in April. They will spend 4 months as a Young Adult, then age-up to Adult in July. They will spend 4 more months as an Adult, then age-up to Elder in December. Each month your sim will move to a new world to explore. I've taken all the rules and guidelines here and copied them over from Karaybaby52's 2023 post and edited them slightly. Rules/Guidelines: One screenshot post per real life day in this thread with a short text summary. One world per real life month - See monthly schedule of worlds in spoiler below. Optional: May change schedule of worlds to reflect your preferences. Your challenge Sim MUST be a teen to officially begin this challenge and post in the thread. After three real life months have passed, your Sim will age up to young adult for four months, adult for four months and finally, age up to an elder for December. Timeline posted in spoiler below. Optional: How long your Sim stays in each life stage, teen-elder, is at your own discretion. However, they are required to be at minimum a young adult to attend Uni in Britechester. *Note: If you own the High School Years EP, your Sims may be offered early graduation. If they take the offer, your teen is allowed to apply, enroll, and attend university or join full-time adult careers. Begin Rags to Riches style on an empty lot with 0 simoleons. Optional: Use the 20,000 starting simoleons to buy a starter home and furnish it how you want. Aging off. Optional: May use long lifespan. All unplayed residential worlds are off limits for any kind of travel. Exception: Newcrest may be designated a 'neutral' world to place venues for your Sim to use regardless of their current world residence. Optional: Newcrest may be used to replace a pack you don't own instead. Optional: Your sim may travel to other worlds not used in the challenge if they get an invitation. Sims may take a vacation to any of the designated vacations worlds. Rental lots in unplayed residential worlds are off limits. Aspirations released with a world must be fulfilled first. May choose a base game or other pack aspiration not in the challenge to complete afterward. Willow Creek, Oasis Springs, Newcrest and Magnolia Promenade may be used in substitution for worlds listed in the challenge for packs you may not own. In that event, choose one or two base game or other packs aspirations not in the challenge to complete per world. Your Sim may marry and/or have children. Aging up children is at your own discretion. High School attendance is not required. May use cheats to fulfill daily/promotional task requirements. *Exception: Applicable only if you do not own the High School Years EP or if you do own it, but have elected not to have your Sim live in Copperdale and do the aspirations associated with the EP in your challenge. The beginning of each new month/world must start Rags to Riches style. Optional: Your Sim may keep personal possessions, sell the rest and bulldoze the house. They may use simoleons from this sale and accumulated household funds to build or download a house from the Gallery. If your challenge Sim dies, it's game over. Optional: You may bring them back to life and continue or use another existing Sim in the household to complete the challenge. Occult states and Celebrity statuses must be removed when progressing to the next month/world. Optional: May keep acquired lifestates/statuses. *Note: Vampires can't get a suntan, which is a Beach Life aspiration task. If a new world is released with a new pack at any time during 2026, you have the option to swap the new world with another prior released world. Give yourself a break and don't stress over days missed due to internet outages, vacations/holidays, real life work/responsibilities or sickness. Extra story screenshots may be posted, but try to keep it to around 5-10 max. May use satisfaction points to buy rewards. Exception: Money tree seeds are disallowed. Lottery tickets are disallowed for purchase. Beginning season, length of days and moon phases are your choice. May turn off or cheat away/change all Eco Lifestyle features applied to worlds. Exception: Must be turned on while living in Evergreen Harbor. May participate in all default Holidays, modify, delete and/or add your own. May include a link to your preferred Blog site with additional story text/screenshots, in addition to your Daily Post Pic/Text Summary. Mod friendly challenge! However, please use discretion when using them. Using a mod to fulfill an aspiration is disallowed. Exception: May be used to correct bugs and/or glitches. Way Back, A Cantrell Restart
Earth, a Way Back update, Chapter One Joseph and Louise Cantrell knew their second son was special and not just for his musical prowess that emerged from a very early age, but also for the fact he was conceived on Earth, but was born out in space, just outside of Vulcan jurisdiction. He was actually a natural citizen of Nowhere. So, when the family left Vulcan to attend to the business of Joseph’s uncle, recently deceased, leaving him the infamous Cantrell House in Del Sol Valley, they had this problem to resolve. The family was in awe to learn the Cantrell’s were one of the oldest families in that region. Joseph wondered what song Erik would write about this venture. He’d had an encounter with a little girl on the playground, and wrote a fabulous song, he titled, “It Hurts Both Ways.” They quickly got the youth registered and learned that since his parents were both natural born citizens of Earth, this qualified Erik to be from Somewhere, over Nowhere, to their relief. “Welcome home,” Joseph said patting the tall boy on the back. “You are already a citizen of Simarica. If you choose to tell others where you were born, that’s up to you.” *~~*~~*~~*~~* The teen was turning into a rather prolific songwriter. Growing up he wrote about everything, to his older brother, Aaron’s dismay. Despite how these boys fought growing up, Aaron was fast becoming Erik’s best ally. Erik, Aaron and Joey, climbed the winder staircase to the second floor. There was a large bathroom in the corner, overlooking the street, three sinks, one commode and a shower, and perpendicular from that door, there was a large bedroom. Large enough for three single beds, on the wall opposite the windows and an octangular nook of a sort, that was made into a small seating area. Erik nodded his approval. “This is cool, it’s almost a Bachelor’s pad. Do you suppose our parents are finally realizing we are almost grown?” “That would be the day,” Aaron said. “What else could you do with that space?” Joey said. “I rather like it.” “Oh, I like it, too,” Erik said. “I can sit here and think,” he said, plopping himself down. “Oh, and I’ll take the bed in the middle, if nobody minds.” “Guess we’re doomed to share a room forever, I’ll take the one closest to the door. In case a fire breaks out in this drafty old Victorian.” “Which one? There’s another door there.” Erik pointed from his place on the sofa. Aaron walked over to pull open the second door. “Hey, it goes right into the bathroom. Aren’t we the lucky ones. We got the Master suite. How old did Dad say it was?” “Over four hundred years,” Joey said. “And that leaves me the one opposite the sitting room, as it were.” “Guess they knew how to build things back then. It’s a tribute to their methods the thing is still standing,” Erik chimed in. “Yeah, as I recall, the next owner has a mandate to see to its upkeep. For instance, Grand uncle Joe, whom I am also named after, had the wiring fixed and updated the windows, bringing them up to code, that sort of thing. Guess Dad’s on the hook to see to it the exterior is freshly painted.” “So, Erik, what is your plan now that you’ve graduated early. Can’t believe you pulled that off on Vulcan, whose standards are notoriously hard,” Aaron said. Erik looked up from his phone, which he had been scrolling through. “I intend to launch my music career,” he said. “Uh-uh, that won’t fly, you know Dad has mandated we all go to university. All of us, no exceptions,” Aaron said. “I’m going to be a doctor,” Joey said. “I’ll give the school here one week and then I’m going to graduate early, too, so I can get started on that.” “If I go to university, and that’s a big IF, I will study Fine Arts,” Erik said, now lounging across the small sofa in the nook, his shoulder length platinum hair splaying across the arm of the couch his head rested on. He already looked the part of a Rock Star. “That way, as Dad put it, if my career either doesn’t launch or craters entirely, I’ll have something to fall back upon. We went round and round on it the other evening. Guess I could teach Music Theory,” he said, screwing up his features in disgust. “I won’t like it much, but I’ll keep writing my songs and publish them all the same.” “Can’t live off of royalties,” Aaron said with a wink. “No, but maybe it will scratch the itch.” *~~*~~ *~~*~~* The next day, Erik got up early and headed into downtown Del Sol Valley to check things out. While browsing the flyers at the popular Orchid A Go-Go Lounge, he discovered that every Thursday and Sunday the various Karaoke bars held a contest. Erik deemed to practice that form of singing in preparation for Sunday evening. Since he didn’t have school to attend, he was free to pursue these things. Come Sunday, his family accompanied him over to NewCrest, a district that was designed for the entertainer, particularly catering to the Music Industry. There were two Karaoke bars. Erik flipped a coin. Entering At The Castle on the north side of the small district, he signed up for the contest and then waited, a tad anxious. Having already establish a Simstagram account, he activated his small red drone, humming along as it streamed Erik purchasing a round of drinks for his party. When his name was called to sing, he also activated the drone again. A couple of Paparazzi took pictures while he performed, a flood of bright flashes blinding him. He won the contest with an impressive 88 out of 100. And found himself hounded by this pair. "So, what’s your name again? And what’s next for you. And just where have you been? To just suddenly appear on the Scene, like this?” He patiently answered their questions before breaking away. “I have to go; my party is leaving.” “What was that all about, Mom?” he asked, catching up with Louise moments later. “They found you interesting, good looking and talented,” she said. “Better get used to it, if this is the career you’re set on.” His mother would know. Big in the Art World, she was made a Global Superstar while they were on Vulcan. “Oh, I’m not afraid of it, just mystified. I’m a nobody, appearing out of thin air as one put it.” *~~*~~*~~*~~* A week later, as he promised, Joey graduated early. As did their younger and only sister, Brianna. The lone holdout was Aaron. Who, as it turned out was actually doing Erik a favor, buying him time, as it were, since Erik had been noticed. A Notable Newcomer, quickly followed by Rising Star, the teen was on the cusp of becoming a B-Lister. Writing songs constantly, he also scanned for opportunities to deliver singing Telegrams, of sorts. He was also called, by several publications. The notable Image Magazine, and the rag-mag, SimQuierer, to sit photoshoots so he could adorn their next cover. These gave him a huge boost. Erik was on the fast-track to fame and success. Aaron was quite proud of his younger brother and even felt a tinge of guilt for all the nasty things he said about the songs Erik wrote. Once he became a Proper Celebrity, with four stars under his belt. Erik went over to Taygeta Studios to record some music. He brought his own work with him, and they attempted to have him, being a newcomer, record covers of others’ work, but once they heard him sing his own music, they gave into him. “Alright, son,” Ryan Ricks, the Record Producer said, “It’s your dime, go ahead, just let us know what you want done, and we’ll see if we can do it for you. You’re going to be a huge star, just so you know.” Digital copies of Just Erik nearly collapsed the website. Seemed everyone was taken with it. Erik now stood on the cusp of Global Superstardom. Overwhelmed, he had another verbal fight with this father about attending the higher schooling. Then, Erik met a girl named Kayleigh . . . All for now, thanks for reading!
Lynnwood's ISBI Challenge Rules for TS4! - 3/15 Growing Together Rules Update!
Update 3/15 - Adopting children must be done at newborn stage, rather than infant. Also you are allowed to create a baby using 'science' if that's your wish. _________ Let me just start by saying that I am NOT the originator of this challenge. As far as I can tell that honor goes to someone called Simslia. So far that I've seen, no one has yet adapted the rules to fit the TS4 game so I thought I'd take a stab at it. If you do play by these rules, feel free to post links of your challenges, I'd love to see how they go! GETTING STARTED Create a YA sim, give them whatever looks, traits and aspiration you’d like. Some like to play with the Erratic trait rule, I personally do not. If you do, then one of the traits given to your founding Torch Holder MUST be Erratic. They can be 'human' sims, aliens, mermaids, vampires, spellcasters or werewolves, your choice! You will be playing on NORMAL lifespan. Move your TH onto a lot. There is no restriction on which lot that can be. Build them a house, import a house from the gallery or let them live on the lawn for a while – whichever play-style you prefer is fine. This should be done with the standard 20,000 starting simoleons. Whatever you have left after purchasing property and house, that's your starting funds. If at any time you move in a single sim that brings an extra 20,000 simoleons into the household, it is PREFERRED that you use the money cheat to delete that (because it's kind've cheating for the 100,000 simoleons point gain, but I'm not going to enforce that one strictly). You may freely choose 3 lot traits for your home lot, but once chosen they cannot be changed. So pick wisely! Find a spouse/baby-maker (human, alien, mermaid, vampire, spellcaster, werewolf). This can be anyone your sim can manage to woo; townies, premades, even sims you've placed into the neighborhood yourself just for this purpose. They must be asked to move in or married IN-GAME however, not placed into the household via Manage Households. Other than that, everybody's free game. Once you've acquired your mate, have some kiddos. Adoption is fine, but they must be adopted as newborns. You are also allowed to create a child via 'science' as well. Adopted children and test-tube babies can be considered for the next Torch Holder. When you receive the notification that it is a sim's birthday, you are allowed to age them up via birthday cake (see Free Actions below). Now let them live their lives and try your best not to reach through the computer screen and strangle them as they commence to peeing themselves/passing out all over the place. THE GOAL The ultimate goal is to survive 10 generations of sims while only controlling one sim at a time, and keeping score throughout. Each Torch-Holder must have at least two children. You don’t HAVE to get married, but doing so increases the chance for more points (and more failures). If playing with the Erratic trait rule then each child MUST be given the Erratic trait at some point. Otherwise all traits and aspirations should be randomized via the dice button and/or 3rd party randomizer. Throughout the challenge, only ONE sim may be controlled by you, and that’s your current Torch Holder. All other sims must live on complete autonomy, to live (or fail) as they will. Obviously this means that sim autonomy should be turned on in your game settings at all times. When the child you’ve chosen as heir reaches YA, the ‘torch’ is passed to them and they become your controllable sim. Your former TH enters the mystical land of autonomy and you are never allowed to control them again. (Note - there are some Free Action exceptions to this rule, see below for details). Once a child reaches YA and they are not your heir, they must be moved out of the household. HARD MODE If you'd like to take the challenge one step higher in difficulty then these rules should also be followed; You are not allowed to utilize the 'Hand of God' (aka click-dragging items such as dirty dishes or inventory items). Anything in the game must be managed or manipulated by the sims themselves, either your TH or a life-stage free action of a NTH. You are not--at any time or circumstance--allowed to hire a Nanny, Repairman, Gardener, Pizza Delivery, Maid or Butler. You are not--at any time or circumstance--allowed to direct NTHs for modes via portraits during work, school or off the lot. SCORING The following is an updated scorecard, modified for changes in TS4 as opposed to its predecessors. Self Wetting : -5 Pass Out : -5 Failing School : -5 Negative Traits Earned by NTHs : -5** Accidental Deaths : -10 Fires : -10 Social Worker Visit : -15 Single Birth : +5 Twins : +10 Triplets : +15 Any sim in the household completing an Aspiration Milestone (Child, Teen and Adult): +5 Any sim in the household completing a full Aspiration (Child, Teen and Adult) : +10 All toddler Skills at level 3 : +5 Skills (Child and Adult) maxed by NTH family members : +10 Children (Child and Teen) earning an A in school : +5 Positive Traits Earned by NTHs : +5** Happy Toddler Trait Earned : +5 Top-Notch Toddler Trait Earned : +10 NTH sims reaching the top of a career (Teen and YA/A/E) : +10 NTH sims passing University classes with a grade of C or higher : +5 NTH sims passing University classes with A+ : +10 NTH sims graduating University with A+ in all classes : +15 Randomizing every trait and aspiration for an entire generation : +10 Not using spares' Satisfaction Reward points for an entire generation : +10 Every 100,000 simoleons earned* : +20 Immortalizing the Torch-Holder : +5 *You can calculate total simoleons earned in 2 different ways. 1 - go to build mode, click on the info box and add the lot's total value to the family's simoleons on hand. OR 2 - go to your achievements and check the Rosebud achievement, which tracks how many simoleons have been earned over-all in that save file. **These are in reference to the new earned traits from the Parenthood game pack. Negative traits are Bad Manners, Uncontrolled Emotions, Insensitive, Argumentative and Irresponsible. Positive traits are Good Manners, Emotional Control, Compassionate, Mediator and Responsible. If no traits are earned, then no points are awarded or taken away. FREE ACTIONS Every sim in the household has one free action per age category. (PLEASE NOTE : this is an EXTRA free action that can be ANYTHING in the game. This does not mean you can only use one of the following free actions per age-category. The actions listed below are ALWAYS allowed to be done whenever and however many times you need to). You may choose to "Claim" a bed with every sim ONCE to assign specific beds to specific sims. This can only be done once. After that, they're on their own. You may choose to quit job/retire for any sim you don't want working, and are allowed to assign sims to specific careers as needed. You may choose to "Change Into..." out of sleepwear, (because I get tired of seeing them in their underwear/PJs ALL DAY). If you have an alien sim, you may choose to change into and out of their Human Sim Disguise freely. You may change tones while at work/school as needed. Whether or not they actually attend or leave early is up to the sims themselves. You may choose to take vacation days or family leave for NTHs via the phone. You may Choose an Umbrella from the umbrella stand, if purchased. When you get the notification for infants that it's their birthday, you are to select the bassinet (with your Torch Holder) to age them up. When all other sims' age bars reach 0, you are allowed to click on a birthday cake to age them up OR click the cake with your TH and choose to 'Age Up...' (select sim). Baking the actual cake and adding candles is up to your TH however. You may choose to take a Pregnancy Test with NTH female spouses to determine if there is a pregnancy. Once a NTH spouse goes into labor, you are allowed to choose to go to the hospital and may then 'Check-In' at the front desk. All other actions at the hospital must be autonomous. If at home, you must wait for the labor to end naturally (the timer to run down on its own). You are allowed to purchase and drink ONE youth elixir per sim, per lifetime. (HOWEVER, doing this with a NTH spare will negate the +10 points for not using AP in that generation).

The Denizens of the Sulani Seas (Updated: 05/18/2025) SimLit Tips in the New Forums One of the things I noticed when the new forums were created was that not everything transferred here looking the way it was supposed to. I opted out of having my story transferred for me and took a great deal of time working through a lot of troubleshooting to find the easiest way to share longer posts. In the comments of this thread, I had a great deal of help from the community as I worked on transferring chapters from Answers HQ. Now that the transfer to the new forums is complete, I think I found the best way to get around the Forums tendency to Auto-Refresh the webpage and erase all progress instead of saving it. My suggestion is in the following link. I will update it with any other findings and suggestions can be shared there so everyone can benefit from them. It's possible this has been fixed while I was away, but I think this suggestion can still be helpful. SimLit Posting Suggestion after Troubleshooting With the list of merfolk in my story expanding over time, I wanted to set aside a space for the character profiles involving the merfolk in my story. Character Profiles will be organized around the Family Groups, or pods, my merfolk belong in. Check out the linked thread to stay updated on the Merfolk Pods in all my stories. Well, I fought it for the longest time, but I now have to admit @Simgirl1111 is quite correct. I tend to restart my Cantrell family whenever there's something new added to the game, or as in this case, a mod I wish to explore. Yes, I have added it to my Ancestral save, and no, I haven't yet tried it out. But I also have to say, things have gotten rather stale for me with the current Cantrell save. The fact that Erik took his family to Jellyfish Junction to help them reset was a disaster. We're talking some of the teens got into a round of fist-a-cuffs with each other. (Two separate fights. the only one involved in both was a certain oldest girl . . .) Who got sent home by her mother, and when Erik learned she was home alone (they have a new Ranch Hand, a guy) he nearly blew his stack. They all came home immediately. I can play a two-track game, for instance. Play the Way-Back version (right before college, or just after) and the current one to write about. I know my feelings of dissatisfaction are born out of the bombshell stuff that hit us just prior to Christmas. I find myself really struggling, as a matter of fact. I know I'm closing in on 71, but I still go through emotions like a teenager. 🤣 (Guess I never really have grown up, per se.) So, I'm asking for a bit of advice? Do I use the Way-Back machine, as well, or just keep on Truckin' On with the current save as it is? Your opinions mean a great deal to me. I can ask others here in my RL, but most don't play this game. And the one who got me started with it barely has time for a phone call, let alone giving her old mother some advice on this. (In her defense, she homeschools eight of my grandchildren, plus helps with their family's business.) So, I'm turning to those of you who are following my little saga, for which I am grateful. The marriage has hit some rocks, especially with bills to pay and one income. Their eldest daughter Daisy Mai has the style nd brains, she is top student in her class a passionate computer nerd and happily dating her childhood best friend Lucas, little brother Enrique is following in her footsteps hitting milestones right, left and centre to try and keep up with his big sis! This month's challenge is to make over the premade Hoapili family from Sulani. You can makeover 1 or both sims, make a room(s) that represent them, or build/remodel their home. You make do 1, 2, or all three of these things. If you do not have the Island Living pack, the sims and their home will be uploaded to the gallery under my user ID: ShellyE1 so you can at least of the basics of the sims and their home to work off of. [Savefile] Blast To The Past
Sul-sul from Old Town! After playing several saves that recreated TS2, I started wanting something different. I started wanting to go further into the past. So I started recreating TS1 in TS4! And then EA realeased the Blast To The Past event and besides stealing the save's name, they dropped a few things that improved the save greatly. I have most of Old Town made, and I decided to share it so I get feedback from fellow simmers. I will be posting pictures. The save is being build with no CC or mods, but requires every pack under the sun. However, I'm keeping track of the elements used in each lot, so you can check if missing packs will be a huge issue or not. The save will eventually be hosted in my patreon, and buildings can be found in both Patreon and on my Gallery (MillieSalem in both places). When the Year Ends With a Bang, a Cantrell: The Middle Years, Update-1 Erik woke up with a strong thirst to get back to things he used to do. He did wonder if Jamison’s decision had anything to do with it. He quickly realized his situation wasn’t even close to what his eldest son just went through. No, he had a desire to go back to making nectar, and to care for their little filly, the way he always used to care for their horses. Back to the sheer joy of writing his music, recording it and building an album. He was also acutely aware of just how much time he let escape. If he wanted to compete for Album of the Year, he had to release the work no later than the Quaver, come the first Sunday in Spring. Can’t submit something that’s not even made. While Erik was enjoying the time spent with his family, he was only too aware of how the balance had swung in the opposite direction. No wonder this past birthday hit him so hard. Crawling out of bed, he discovered he had a concert and a photoshoot to attend. How to work laying down fifteen tracks and packaging an album in between. I wonder. He also had another task he wished to not postpone. Putting himself into turbo mode as only Erik Cantrell could, he showered, dressed and got to stomping some grapes in the upper floor of the stables. “I’m off,” he hollered as he walked through the back door on his way to the front door. “Got a full docket.” “Don’t forget tonight is New Year’s Eve,” Kayleigh said, with a wave. Finding her out front, Erik quickly fed the filly, Gab’s Glory, on his way out to Taygeta Studios. The recording went really well, to Erik’s joy. The music flowed through him and there was no need to redo, to everyone’s surprise and delight. “Hey, good to know Erik one and done is back.” Michael Perry, one of the two Sound Mixers said. “What are you saying to me?” Erik quipped. “Just spit it out, man.” “Music’s been great, but you haven’t seemed up to par, yourself, lately.” “Yeah, I know,” Erik said, nodding. “But I do believe I’ve turned a corner on that. I know it’s going to be okay, at least.” Erik went home, briefly to have the photoshoot take place at his home. This had a tendency to make it happen much faster, he quickly realized. To his pleasure and surprise, this was also a one and done situation. Taking off from there he kept his appointment. He entered the parlor and was taken immediately to a chair near the back of the establishment, which afforded a certain amount of privacy. This particular shop, Sheer Madness, catered mostly to celebrities. “So, Mr. Cantrell, what can I do for you today?” Miriam said, as she placed the protective apron under his neck, fastening it before she began to examine his hair. “Your hair isn’t overly long; your ends look quite healthy. So, what’s up?” Miriam said with a smile. “I’m actually here for a haircut. I’d like it shorter, if you please.” “Okay, but first, we have this nice little device that will allow you to “try on” the haircuts before I use the sheers on your hair. Unless you already have an idea of what you want.” “No, actually. Let’s try on some styles, if you will. It’s been a decade or two since I’ve had a regular haircut.” “No, actually. Let’s try on some styles, if you will. It’s been a decade or two since I’ve had a regular haircut.” Miriam reach for a small remote control and the mirror winked on, loading the desired program. “Here’s number one. Do you like it?” "What I really need is some feedback and I want you to be brutally honest. My hair has always been my signature look, as you know.” Miriam’s forehead knotted up just a bit. She slowly shook her head. “No, it’s just not you.” “Next.” “Next.” “Oh, no, that’s not even me,” Erik laughed. “Next.” they went through the next four in rapid fire. Erik began to laugh “Now, that last one looks like the style my teen twin sons chose. “No. I am not after recovering my youth. I’m quite content being me.” “Looks too close to how my sister-in-law wears her hair... Next one, please." “Now, that’s closer only a tad too short.” “Okay, try this one out.” “Hm, problem I see with that one is the temptation to just let it grow out a bit.” “I have two more. Then we’ll just have to wing it.” “Reminds me of a priest.” “Are you sure you’re even ready to cut off your hair?” “I never said I wasn’t picky,” Erik smiled. “Do you have something a little longer than number nine?” “Oh, yes, this just came in. Designer is Thady Riley. Here you go, what do you think?” “That’s it. I like it. I mean I really like it.” “Oh, good, because it’s totally you, sir.” “Snip away, Madame, I have a concert and a party to throw.” Erik stood on the stage, his hat worn for warmth, not to shield the new haircut, although, admittedly his head felt lighter. By the time Erik got home again, the party was in full swing. “Erik, there you are,” Kayleigh said, as he entered the dining room. “Your hair is short, what happened?” “Got it cut.” He shrugged. “It took all day long to cut your hair? I don’t believe you. You knew we had plans—” Erik grasped her upper arms gently, gazing into her big blue eyes. “No, I laid down fifteen tracks for an album, packaged it, so I just need to release I — very soon, lest I take myself out of the running.” “Oh,” she said, as he gathered her into his arms, hearing the chime of the clock as it struck midnight. “Happy New Year,” he breathed as his lips met hers. At that moment a strong whoosh met their ears. Everybody turned toward the bar, as it suddenly was on fire. “What is going on here,” Kayleigh moaned. Erik just stood there, staring, “Not again.” Happy New Year. I do hope 2287 proves better than this start, anyway. All for now, thanks for reading!
Build Request
If possible, could someone build this house on a 50x50 lot with terrain tools and a pool in the backyard? The basement doesn’t have to have all the extra rooms if it’s too much. Also, you don’t have to fully furnish it, just put countertops, fixtures, and light furnishings to indicate which room it is.Santa's pop-up park
Santa's pop-up park Christmas night be over but as Santa Diana his tools for festive New Year he leaves his park and market open for Sims to buy for next year's event. Santa also listens to Sims Christmas cheers and wishes for next year. Wander around the woods and Sims will find the secret bar where they can raise a toast to the new year.
The Whittaker Saga - 1980s (updated 12/24)
I was vastly inspired when reading the decades challenge, and as a history teacher, I could not stop myself from giving it a try. Of course, true to my nature or refusing to do things by the book, the first thing I did was break the rules. How? By creating as my protagonist a single, working woman living on her own! Gasp! Why? Partly because a story popped into my head, but also, partly, to honor the many women who - by choice or necessity - actually worked, and worked hard for their living in the 1890s. We tend to forget them, but the working women were there - from the hard working farmers that we often downgrade by calling wives, as if they weren't an essential part of the economy of the farm, to the working class women working as domestic help or in the factories where they were only payed half of a man's wages. So with that, I introduce Abigail Spencer, a single, working, middle class woman in 1890s Willow Creek: As middle class there is only a few jobs available to Abigail, that of governess or that of teacher. Abigail is therefore a teacher, teaching at Willow Creek Elementary School. She lives right next door to the school, in a small shotgun house with a few chickens and a patch of land to help her make ends meet (teachers really were not payed a lot during this time either). Obviously, her biggest goal in life is to find a husband, get married and start a family so that she won't have to work. (In fact, a teacher, as well as many other working women, automatically lost their job if they got married during this time.) But to get married, she needs to find a husband. Meet Willow Creek's eligible bachelors: Matthew Godeau: Matthew is one of the richest men in Willow Creek. A bit too old to still be a bachelor he lives with his widowed mother in Ophelia house (yes, eventually this family changed their names and became the Goths. Ophelia house is named from Matthew's mother). Pro: Matthew is creative, just like Abigail, as well as a romantic and would be sure to bestow lots of attention on a wife. He lives in one of the biggest houses in town, and is a wealthy business man. Abigail would have a good life with him. Con: His mother. Ophelia is a woman set in her own ways and she is not about to let some silly girl interfere with how she runs her house! Ophelia is mean, materialistic and an overachiever. She is not likely to see some middle class teacher as good enough for her son. Add that she has raised her son to be not only creative and romantic, but also incredibly self absorbed and the household may prove hard to be comfortable with. Joseph Whittaker: Joseph is a novellist, living in the stately Whittaker house, which with time, will be turned into the well renowned Willow Creek Archive. He has no mother (a definite pro), but two very young children. A son and a daughter, from a previous marriage. Pro: Joseph is a bookworm, just like Abigail and is sure look favourably on her past as a teacher. They are also both family orientated which means they are a good match in personalities and would likely find a lot of common ground. The house is ripe with books, and Joseph's two motherless children desperately need a mother to tend to their needs. With two live in maids it's a comfortable life focused on the family and the books she so loves. Con: Joseph very much mourns his dead wife, and keeps her picture on the wall over the fireplace. Can he ever truly love again, or will Abigail forever live in the shadow of the woman he loved and lost? Loyd Brennan: Loyd is the owner of Brennan's Groceries and Dry Goods, the biggest (only) shop in town. He lives with his sister Mary and their dachshund above the store. Pro: Loyd is outgoing and friendly and easy to get along with. He's self assured, but unlike Matthew, not self absorbed. He works hard and provides a good home. As a working man he does not mind a working wife, so Abigail would do more than sit around being pretty. He loves dogs, and anyone who does cannot be bad - right? Con: Living in a store would mean working in the store. There is no way the wife of a store owner is not in that store working along side her husband. Without money for a maid, this involves not just working in the store but running the household as well. The apartment isn't really big enough for a large family and unless Mary gets married, it's bound to be crowded. Then there is the fact that she and Mary does not really get along well. Paul Heydale: Paul is a farmer, living with his entire family at Garden Essence, a farm with a cow, chickens and a whole lot of crops. They're a tight knit family who works hard for what they have. Pros: Paul, like Abigail is both creative and family orientated. He dreams of becoming a painter rather than a farmer. By marrying him, Abigail would be wrapped up in a large family who would be there for her, something she'd never had before. His family is also very friendly, and Abigail teachers his younger sister and has already met and chatted with his mother and father and really likes the entire family. Con: Marrying a farmer would be a step down the social ladder, and the life of a farmer is hard! Is Abigail cut out for working out from early morning to late evening without ever more than making ends meet? And the house is crowded as is, with Paul's parents and two younger siblings (so far). Where would more children live? Is Abigail prepared for the hard life that accompanies this choice? Now I wanted to make a poll, but apparently you cannot do this in this section of the forums. So I'll leave you with a question instead - who do you believe Abigail will most likely fall in love with and why? Matthew Joseph Loyd Paul Finally, here is my Willow Creek in 1890: *** An important note about the future postings in this story: After trying and fighting the forum to get the posts up and running as they are supposed to work, I have now decided that it's simply too much work. Instead, I have started a blog that (hopefully soon) will contain all of the chapters from here and the old forum. I am currently at 1891 and moving forwards quite rapidly. Here the posts of each chapter will be replaced by a link to the chapters in the blog as I move forwards, though I will leave any comments as they are. The massive perk with this is that I do not need to worry about editing in all images manually, and the loading time will decrease enormously without them. The process of reading is also easier at the blog - and while the blog itself is in the wrong order, I have set up a list of all chapters in chronological order for new readers as well as a search function if you are looking for a specific chapter. Another perk is that I have some new options, like character pages where you can get a summary of each of the main character in the story (warnings for spoilers) and a separate page about the challenge, how time moves. I hope I will be able include a link to the family tree as well. It will take some time to get everything set up, and I do appreciate input in the process. I do promise that the story will go on, and hope you will keep reading it and commenting on it either here or on the new blog. Link to the blog.
