[Survey] Player to Player—where are we at?
We do not get to see the EA/Sim Developer survey results (I really wish we would/could). We do not know that the actual majority of the Simmer base is asking for. But would you like to know where the other Simmers stand/are at, at this stage of Sims 4? What gameplay themes are your priority 1-10 (1 being priority and 10 being lowest or no priority)? Modern and regular everyday life (more family, children and modern/regular activities/lifestyles) Modern and better than reality life (vacation/travel, business/career based, extreme activities and luxury lifestyles) Modern with minor fantasy elements (not really occults, more like wishing wells, kissing frogs, etc.) Modern with fantasy elements (occults in the modern world like Harry Potter, vampire/werewolf pop culture books/tv/movies, etc.) Era and regular everyday to better than reality life (Victorian, Bridgeton inspired, Medieval, etc.) Era with minor fantasy elements Era with fantasy elements (steampunk, dragons, etc.) Future with no alien elements Future with minimal alien/fantasy elements (like some "Into the Future" aspects) Future with alien/fantasy elements (Utopia ideal technology, Dystopia survival, space travel/living, etc.) What life stages are your priority? What life states are your priority? Out of the most recent EPS (Business & Hobbies, Enchanted by Nature, Adventure Awaits and Royalty & Legacy). How would you rate their themes in a grade system (even if you didn't get them), to your playstyle? I just wonder if Simmers are just all over the board, and devs can't make heads or tails of what we want, or if we are more aligned than we think and devs are just not getting our message? What Should He Wear? . . .
Erik Cantrell, just now a B-Lister, is busy making his way up the fame ladder, as well as learning how to suddenly be a Lord of Ondarion. Between gigs, he practices archery, and swordsmanship. He's so overwhelmed at the moment that this sixteen-year-old, raised more or less as a commoner, is now totally blown away to have been nominated for Song of the Year. What to wear, what to wear, what to wear, He hopes will all of his young, tender heart that others will give him some guidance. His mother does remind him this is a Big Deal and to dress accordingly. Here are his choices: 1. His official suit. 2. a regular three-piece suit. 3. a monkey-suit or 4. this fanciful number. What say you? Thanks to all who participate. I'm totally stuck.What is Your Dynasty Set Up (Skills/Ideals) and Results?
So far I found: Charisma Skill with Caring/Diplomatic Ideals Natural Living/Gardening/Gemology/Fishing/Entomology with Nature-Loving Ideals Really effective (almost too effective) for gaining Prestige. Gardening and Fishing becomes very high in autonomy so much that house plants will now always be maintained (before R&L mine always would die if I didn't manually water), harvesting is autonomous, and fishing is higher in autonomy even off lot. I am also trying: Spellcaster with Practical Magic and Thanatology/Medium Skill with Mysterious Ideals Spellcaster with Mischief Magic and Mischief/Romance Skill with Devious/Mysterious/Passionate Ideals with the Voodoo Doll (bound to partner) This is so-so but not nearly as efficient, and takes some effort on the player's part. Voodoo Scandal pops up a lot which I like.Seems To Me, I Need to . . .
Restart my Reset. The new family tree places Grand Uncle Joe as Joseph, Sr.'s father. Oopsie! I now get to have some fun in CAS, to generate his parents and siblings. Then start another NEW save, placing only the saves where I am picking up the story. It's moments like this I wish I wasn't such a perfectionist. But this will bug me until I fix it. Oh, well. It also took me too long to find out where the Social Groups tag was. Oi. 'Must be going senile' to quote Captain James T. Kirk. Is there anything you've had to 'fix'? Please do share.
Why I can’t let my Sims control their life for 2 minutes…
Do your Sims turn into complete idiots the moment you let them make their own decisions for just two minutes? Do you ever feel like you’ve become a total control freak because of your Sims? Then this (humorous) group therapy session is for you! Please share your frustrations (and screenshots if you have them)! Tell us about the horrors you’ve had to endure from your “independent” Sims. We are here to listen and support each other in these difficult times. I’ll go first: I can’t let my Sim, Megane, have a normal conversation with her neighbor for two minutes. What I imagine will be some casual, friendly chat somehow turns into her FLIRTING with him, while her husband is standing right there... and then, for absolutely no reason, she starts insulting the neighbor! 😨 I was just expecting small talk. You know… SMALL. TALK.
How will you be implementing your Legacy Challenge into Royalty & Legacy?
I mean, it has "Legacy" in the name, so I assume many of us will be starting a new Legacy Challenge with this. I know I will, but my ideas haven't progressed beyond the thought of starting a new legacy when the new pack arrives. I was considering a Cinderella-type story, but I feel like that might be too basic. I’m just looking for ideas and inspiration from the more creative among you, as it might also help spark ideas for others who are reading this 😁 If there is a discussion about this already, please feel free to signpost me!

I've started getting a bit bored doing regular things in the sims 4 and I'm looking for some challenges, the only packs I currently own is Seasons and Cottage living, and if you wanna count it i also got backyard stuff, romantic garden stuff, my first pet stuff and the holiday celebration, I've never been a big fan of the 100 babies challenge so I'm looking for other recommendations on challenges
DNA & family trees in TS4
Starting this thread with the upgraded family trees and plenty of genetics to debeate, in mind. I'm currently busy preparing families for the R&L pack. In TS4 I think sims just pass on one gene per feature, and the sims's gene will be either from father or mother. Because dyed hair will be passed on too, I mostly make sure to make notes of my sim's genetic hair color, because the game doesn't seem to keep track on it, but will pass on blue hair. Most of my female sims will not dye their hair while still having babies... Did this change? I see so many weird dna results in the family trees representing lore. They could be explained if we had two genes from each parent, but seems impossible if we only have one gene per parent. Also, how happy are you wioh the family tree upgrade? I love it, althugh some of my 10 years old trees are a bit messed up - I can live with that. It seems the game struggles a bit if one parent dies and the widow/er remarries. I found one case where my sim's stepmother is his genetic mother (stepmother is even younger than him), meaning all her family is listed as true relatives, which they are not. It might be caused by my save being old, and me designing some of the family relations in CAS rather than through regular play. And, maybe those who died eight RL years ago were culled, breakin the tree. I'm sure it will work better from here and onwards.
Q&A: Royalty & Legacy
#AD (just in case this counts as social media) I was invited to join the CFE (not final build) opportunity for The Sims 4: Royalty & Legacy. Thank you to the EA Creator Network for this chance to answer questions for you about the pack! I will be taking and answering mainly questions about gameplay - Skills/Traits/Aspirations/Career/Venues/Systems/Collections/Lore - and anything else you guys want to know about! I did test with ALL PACKS in as I believe this is yet another pack with cross-compatibility possibilities related to the various systems. (Please Note: Testing with other packs in is unsupported before regular Early Access, so may be extra buggy.) Testing was/will continue to be done on a mix of fresh CAS Sims and premades, to see lore and experience different levels if they are present. Format will be similar to past Q&As where I have links to each subject and add more info to each based on questions asked and as I discover things through gameplay. I can't start posting right away this time due to the embargo, but will be continuing to take notes/screenshots and will post info when I can. P.S. - I have a Creator Code, so if you find my Q&A useful you might consider it as an option at checkout.
