Christmas Wishlist as a Hockey Fan
I’m aware this is very long and honestly emotional but there’s so much value into what I’m saying so please at least read it, I only do this because I care about hockey. I’m happy to take a job and make the game better or something because it feels like I and the rest of the fanbase have so many ideas that would improve the game and they’ve gone unheard for decades. This is far and away the most unenjoyable hockey video game released. The Ai is laughable, like genuinely dumb, I’ve seen more five sways in front of my own net, or defenceman completely abandoning their position, or the ai genuinely being unreliable to have the puck in general. I’m 100% convinced you guys only tested this game with ai cause it’s that bad. Move over to hut the most updated part of the game. It’s stale and boring, packs are stupid so much money for little to no reward, auction house makes no sense with jerseys costing 50k? Worst of all the hit moments you guys pump out every other week doesn’t even work, Parayko poke checks was the most unenjoyable experience I’ve had in gaming, I had to do 12 instead of the 5 poke checks cause your game doesn’t understand what a poke check is. Everything that happens in game isn’t that of getting actual events but a scripted code that the ai decides what happens. Goalies are either way too good doing garbage animations that isn’t even indicative of goaltending today or letting in almost every shot. World of chel is so stale, there barely any content and most of it is cosmetics I would never take a second look at. Franchise mode is comprised of many options for rules and only two are worth while, salary cap and computer trades. Be a pro is garbage, you have to rely on incompetent ai to lose the puck every two seconds because they skate into the defender, or they dump the puck in on the powerplay which literally hasn’t been done by an nhl team this season, or even better your own teammates decide to constantly skate into front of you. Would have been nice if the dumb animation that was added a few years ago did something in avoiding players instead of forcing you out of the play and slowing you down. The pressure system is the worst, there no reason for it, makes the game trivial and reduces stamina way too much. Literally take nhl 14 upgrade the graphics and release that for current consoles and it would be 100000x better than this garbage. Also why are there still blank faces in that game, literally just give them a random face out of your selection if they are a generated player. Form score is still whack. Too many posts like way too many. Be a pro is also not an upgrade from years past you just got rid of one pricey pond hockey for a dull 5 game junior career and stupid interruptions every three seconds like the coach cutscenes or the agent talking to you or masking celebrinis terrible voice acting. This game has zero heart. Why can’t you use custom rosters in be a pro? Like I have to play with Quinn Hughes on the cannucks no matter what? Make me open 1 million packs for two stupid collectables again, it makes no sense just send them to the inbox in hut you literally already have the system in the game. Maybe update the custom teams a bit it’s been the same forever, 23 had the same logos in the game it’s boring. Wildcard is the fullest experience and cup chase is the only decent start in hut, and even then it’s the exact same teams with the exact same logos for little to no rewards. All you have to do is put a circuit through the nhl in it or just a season of your hit team playing in the nhl or something. Threes hasn’t been touched since nhl 18 and that’s so depressing, like update it somehow it’s boring playing the same thing for 8 years. Winter classic still isn’t playable in the game which is insane, put it into the game, put it into the modes, be a pro hasn’t had all star games or winter classics or anything fun for years. Despite not improving it be game since 2013 we still see slow menus, like really slow for the standards of gaming today, you’ve improved so little and the game doesn’t run smooth come on. Also why is there now pwhl be a pro or why can’t you play a few years in the ohl, literally do what nhl slap shot did and make a story so you have something to play in be a pro, i dont want to just draft and play in the NHL that’s not be a pro that’s play as one nhl player and be bored. Why don’t goalie’s pads match them when playing in half the modes? I’m happy to go in and create all the goalies pads to see something accurate in modes even just let it be accurate. Add a fresh mode in the game it’s been forever that the only somewhat competent modes have been word of chel, hut, be a pro, and franchise mode. Ice w and edge are minor additions to this game and it’s basically the whole marketing and additions to this game, like 3 seconds of stats here and there are really fun!!!!! Hockey fans just want an enjoyable experience it’s not that big of an ask. Expansion drafts are completely broken the amount of amazing players especially clear cut number one goalies who are left available because they have a year left on their contract is terrible it’s not very hard to make it somewhat accurate. For a company whose ceo thinks ai is the future your ai in game is the worst. Bring soul back into this game. How many years in a row have we had this same home menu is boring and out of touch, I don’t need to see players doing the same movement whilst standing for eleven years. Expand the ahl and echl in modes there’s no reason why I can’t go undrafted in be a pro and work my way through the system if I want. Also you superstar difficulty isn’t hard, the only difference between superstar and all star is that your teammates get worse. I genuinely do not want to see yearly releases from this game cause you have proven time and time again you can’t handle it, take a year off and make something worth playing. Breaking the glass is fun and all but it’s not even the best breaking glass we’ve seen in an nhl game, not even top ten, it literally only serves to disrupt your playing, you can’t put someone through the glass or see a shatter just in break mark and an annoying reset to the play. Also why is there a battle pass in this game this is not a game for a battle pass, I know you guys want the extra money but make it worth while this isn’t a first person shooter where you upgrade your guns and customize them this is hockey I don’t need to play as Jack Frost. Spend less time searching for micro transactions and cooperate dead customizable and make a decent game. The only reason anyone plays this anymore is because they like hockey not the game. I genuinely couldn’t tell the difference between graphics for the last 5 years, like that is your main selling point to these games and they don’t look nearly different enough for that to not be embarrassing. Do you have developers who don’t know how to develop video games or ones that don’t know hockey cause you have to pick you cannot have both. Conversations in franchise mode is a good edition spoiled by boring and time consuming gameplay I have to talk to almost the whole team and most the time they don’t even accept what I want it literally just a waste of time. Like achievements in this game are based on buying something from one of your 1 million stores, that’s not an achievement and only shows that there isn’t enough gameplay to make for a decent achievement. X factors are cool and all but they aren’t really needed tbh, one of the main selling points of this game was that good players feel different from other players and they straight just don’t literally only different animations. There should not be a method to score more goals in this game. Ever year it’s something the constant back hand forehand deke or cross crease or one timers, every game has a different one, please just make it balanced. I can count more types of currency in this game than I can decent game modes and that says a lot about the priorities developers have for this game. Make it fun get involved in the nhl or something this is just kinda coexisting with hockey and doesn’t actually feel like an nhl game. Ones was dead on arrival, genuinely, it died whenever of the last games it came out and still it’s dead there are so many modes out their that kind of just sit on the list, don’t get updated, and are brought from one game to the next as filler content. Equipment is far from up to date. Your fan base are hockey fans, these fans have played an ea nhl game before so if you are going to release something please just make it worth while I do not need to play the same game over and over and over again. The only allegiance there is with this game is that it’s hockey if there was a single other competitive game about hockey it would be played, ea is thriving off of a monopoly. Passing is the absolute worst it’s been period. I understand that you’ve added the new controls for specific passing by pressing the coursing button but in hockey that is much too slow and when you try to pass the normal way it goes way past the player intended or just completely not in that direction, like passing has not often been a problem so what happens from last years game to this year that made it so inconsistent it ruins the flow of the game. Make this game about hockey again not making a buck. Even penalties feel like a scripted event I’ve seen so many times drawing a cross checking penalty because the player locks onto you and goes ham at the back of your head, that’s not needed they don’t need to chase me around the ice with unlimited speed and acceleration just for them to get a penalty. NHL 94 has more refreshing gameplay and it’s older than me this is such and insane thing to be true. Let me use whatever roster I want in whatever game mode I want. Like sign me on yo help develop this game or come up with ideas or something because it’s not a hard job you just have to listen to the millions of hockey fans screaming at you about what would make the game better. NHL 26 deserves the mark for most unenjoyable hockey game to date, it’s just not a fun experience. Like make a rogue like mode in the game for some entertainment or something this game is so stale there are so many thing you guys can do to improve this game and year in and year out it’s not done and this is why your fans are so angry about your monopoly. Even shootout mode lost its entertainment factor, it’s a shootout it’s literally made in the nhl to be a burst of entertainment at the end of the game to finish it off. Add more jersey types in custom jerseys or something like genuinely there are so many ideas to make this game better that have been overlooked by this dev team for years. Like ea has a reputation in the gaming community of out of touch that could be easily avoidable. Please just listen and pull this franchise out of the terrible spiral into t has been in for some many years. I and so many other hockey fans have so many ideas for you guys so just listen cause. Why are The AI so dumb they dont no how to cover a person they dont no how to stop they go in the crease right behind the goalie they dont check or poke check or hit all they do is skate around and go in to there position ea say there AI intelligence but I just think there dumbAI in 2025 NHL
Can someone explain to me why the AI in NHL 2025 (maybe/probably 2026 too) is so terrible? When they're against us, they win almost every face-off, score a goal every three shots, make great passes, the goalie stops almost everything, etc.... But… when it's the AI of your teammates... They almost never score goals, the goalie is useless, the defensemen give the puck away for no reason, never win any face-offs... etc. It's very frustrating and makes the game almost unplayable...
Please bring NHL back to PC — it's long overdue
Hi EA Sports team, With the NHL playoffs in full swing, I’ve been trying everything to get a decent hockey experience on PC — old titles, mods, emulators, and even Xbox Cloud Gaming via Game Pass. Unfortunately, none of it truly works well, and there’s still no official way to play NHL on PC in a way that feels modern, sharp, and satisfying. I tried playing NHL 24 through Game Pass, but the image quality is heavily compressed and blurry, even on a wired high-speed connection. It’s not remotely close to the quality PC gamers expect. Buying a console just to play one game feels excessive — and honestly, not the most environmentally responsible choice either. PC gaming already has the hardware, the community, and even handhelds like Steam Deck ready for your game. Please bring NHL back to PC. With FIFA (EA FC) and Madden now fully supported, NHL is the last major sports franchise missing. It’s time. And hey — if you don’t make your money back, I promise to sell my house to cover development costs. Yes, I’m that confident there’s a market. 😉
NHL 26 - PC (yet another thread asking for it)
Firstly, I'd like to start with mentioning that I've played this franchise since I was a kid. My first one was '07 back on PS2. I loved hopping on and playing every chance I could. I was an every-other-year buyer of these games up until NHL 21, and it wasn't because I stopped enjoying them. It was because I, along with more and more gamers every year, made the move to PC. One of the only things I miss about my Playstation is the NHL games. If a new NHL game were to come out on PC - even better, on Steam? Instant wishlist. Instant buy on release day. I wanna play Be a Pro again. Make more expansion teams in Franchise mode again. Find some people to play in an EASHL club with again. It's not as if there's no market. PC grows year over year. Look at Capcom's recent earnings report, for example. Capcom has been a console-first developer/publisher for as long as it's been around. Their most recent huge title, "Monster Hunter: Wilds", actually ended up having more PC players than console players - a first for that series. And that's just one concrete example of the numbers supporting PC's meteoric growth. Streaming the game through Gamepass isn't a solution (though it's better than nothing). A lot of gamers, including myself, don't have an internet connection reliable enough to stream games. More still don't have one strong enough to stream games and play online modes. We need a real PC version of these games going forward.Any kind of training or tutorial in NHL 25

Sadly another World Junior tournament has come and gone with little improvement to the World Jr. Tournament mode in NHL 25. Not only the World Junior mode but International modes altogether. So I thought I'd call out some opportunities for improvements in future releases. Of course, having a up to date World Jr roster in the game before the real tournament begins would be welcomed but we have to understand a release over Christmas is asking a lot of the NHL team as they certainly deserve time off during the holidays like everyone else. But a more robust update post holidays would be appreciated. Items to be included in annual updates: Updated rosters Updated uniforms The January Roster update did not include correct uniforms for Canada, USA, Czechia or Kazakhstan Updated equipment The January Roster updated did not include the correct equipments sponsors (Gloves/Helmets) for USA (now CCM), Finalnd (now CCM) and Slovakia (now Bauer). Also would make more sense for stick and skate defaults to follow team equipment sponsor for each country. Updated Arena/Host City Branding Use appropriate sized arenas or actual arena if already in game. This year could have used the Canadian Tire Centre as the arena for the World Junior tournament Multiple arenas would also be nice when host cities have more than one location used for each pool in the group. This year Group A used a NHL sized arena and Group B used a CHL sized arena. Items to be added that would not require annual updates: The ability to chose different ice sizes and the default to reflect the current tournament This is an absolute must have. Most World Junior tournaments are played on North American sized ice. National anthem played at end of game for winning team, not before the game country that is the home team Enhanced ice and board branding. It's very basic compared to other modes More intense atmosphere for all games of host country, regardless if they are home or away team for that specific game. More intense atmosphere for medal round games Medal presentations A playable Bronze Medal Game The ability to create your own international tournament (call it EA Cup or whatever) and ability to choose tournament participant size, amount of round robin games, include whatever countries (or teams) you would like to including any created teams *updated with feedback from another postBe A Pro One Timer from Call for Pass
I'm having issues with executing one timers in Be a pro when I am open but the AI doesn't decide to pass it to me. What I typically do is holding L2, pull the right stick back to call for pass, then push right stick up to shoot. Every time this happens my player just ends up catching the pass first and then snap shotting. What is the process for one timers when calling for a pass? Am I supposed to R2 for the call or right stick back? Here's a GIF of it happening, it's kind of hard to see my stick raising but you can definitely see him only catching the pass then snap shotting.
