Small Business Wins and Fails
Share your wins and fails when running a small business from the Businesses & Hobbies pack. I will start. Maker Space Additional Packs Used Eco Lifestyle Employee Tasks Mentor Run Classes & Lectures Owner Tasks Clean Scrap Crafts Repair Customer Tasks Attend classes and lectures Fabricate Handiness Set Up I created three classrooms (woodworking, candle making, and fabrication). I hired two employees （one for lectures and one for mentoring). I trained the employees by giving them lectures so they could reach level 5 of both the handiness and fabrication skills. I also had a small shop in the front, but no one shopped from it because I didn't set the task for shopping. Problems I Ran Into You can't mentor on the candle making station. The option isn't available to mentor Sims. The fabrications classes require level 5 of the rocket science skill. I only had level 5 of the fabrication skill. The employees also only had level 5 of the fabrication skill. I didn't train them in rocket science. [BH] Several classes/lectures don't work | EA Forums - 11968151 Customers don't use the fabricator or the candle making station during the fabrication class. Customers don't finish their crafts. They always abandon them. The candle making stations weren't autonomously cleared. [BH] [GT] Certain objects aren't cleaned by employees/club members | EA Forums - 12239563 I got two last exceptions related to the pack. Final Verdict Even though there were a good number of problems, I will classify this business as a win because it mostly functioned. The Sims 4 is a buggy game so I'm trying to be fair. Cat Café Additional Packs Used Cats & Dogs Get Together Employee Tasks Employee 1 Tend Coffee/Tea Bars and Counters Employee 2 Care for Pets Clean Owner Tasks Clean Repair Customer Tasks Play with pets Drink Coffee Drink Tea Target Customer Trait > Cat Lover Supervised Customer > Cats + Caregiver stays on the lot Set Up I added the Easy Energy Expresso Bar to the lot. Then I hired two employees. I set the lot traits to breeding ground, training ground, and cat hang out. I used the Cat Café standard preset. I adopted two kittens and one adult cat into my household. I added litter boxes, food bowls, pet beds, and scratching posts to the lot. I upgraded the Easy Energy Expresso Bar to have the option for the Pre-Work shot. Problems I Ran Into [BH] Customers using espresso bar to make coffee at Small Biz | EA Forums - 12239534 [BH] Customers leaving uneaten food and drink | EA Forums - 11975807 [GT] Ordering in Cafe drops from queue when crowded | EA Forums - 11849376 It seemed like the ability to order coffee was dropping from the queues of customers because they would crowd around and they wouldn't take their foods after ordering. [GTW] [BH] Employees Never Repair Espresso Machine in Small Business | EA Forums - 12239569 I couldn't have my Sim repair the Impress-o Expresso Machine when it broke. A repairman couldn't repair it either. The only options were to hire a repair service or to replace it. I hired the repair service but the repairman said there was nothing broken on the lot. I had to replace it. The Impress-o Expresso Machine couldn't be cleaned by my Sim. I think an employee was able to clean it. My Sim is a servo. There weren't any options on the Impress-o Expresso Machine to upgrade it to unbreakable or make it so it doesn't get dirty. Sometimes, the employee would go from behind the coffee bar and place the food on a table. Final Verdict This is another business I would classify as a win because it worked well with the In-Grain Ed Specialty Coffee Bar but when I used the Easy Energy Expresso Bar (Get Together), the Sims had problems ordering expressos.Fixes & Freebies: November 4 Update

So, Did You Weather the Patch Okay?
I just have to say I was terrified. Most of the bigger patches have ruined my game saves. So far, and I played for a good two hours yesterday, things seem to be running just fine. Phew! I'd like to say I dodged that Phaser blast. (Star Trek reference for those who don't get it.) Road to Fame, which I did NOT remove, is working so far. I have to test it more thoroughly by sending my Rock Star to a live concert, over the 'away' concert the Rabbit Hole. I will also have to test out the magazine shoot by having my Sim ask them to come to him, which makes it live. I was also so very astonished at how quickly the patch downloaded and was installed. I either have a great rig, and/or my WIFY is living up to the advertisements on TV. Go Xfinity! MCCC so far shows no problems. I do have to check the list, just to be doubly certain. But all of that anxiety I went through has been abated. Thankfully, the election is over with, too. Now, I just have to get passed my doctor's appointment today, which is a follow-up for the treatment I've been under for nearly three months. This Saturday, we are hosting our Pre-Thanksgiving Day Feast. Once that comes together, I will have a great time and enjoy my family and friends as we celebrate. So far, though, all is well in GalacticGal territory. So, please do share how you fared. I have a very sympathetic ear, if you need one. I will even offer you some tea and sympathy, if needed.

Speculation: could aliens be next?
The sims 4 has started a tradition of revisiting existing themes. For example we got two versions of apartments and two versions of ownable stores. I think the content we release this year contained a few references to aliens ET reference when you complete the event that ends today UFO wallpaper in adventure awaits random decor items with a lamp in the lilsimsie kit and a picture of a UFO in the Casanova Cave Kit What do you guys think, will aliens 2.0 be next?Tip to avoid update (if you want to)
Some simmers like myself want to avoid an update for a few days to wait for mods. With the past updates I discovered something I want to share. I have set my settings in the EA app to not update my game automatically but sometimes this setting seems to be ignored. Using this setting is of course the first step to avoid or postpone an update. However the way you start your game matters. I have two short cuts, one to start the EA app, another one to start sims 4 directly. Starting the EA app works fine. I can go offline and play my not-updated game. Starting with the sims 4 shortcut that directly boots up the game ignores my EA app settings. If there is an update available, it will overrule my preferences in the app and update the game without warning. So just a reminder for anyone who wants to wait a few days with the update. Which traits are so disappointing that it's not worth using them?
I mean traits that just don't do what reasonably should be expected of them to do. For example the lazy trait. It just gives sims a negative moodlet while they actively do things, but does not prevent them from doing those things on their own. It gives an occasional want related to it, but nothing more. It's not making your sim sleep longer either, do a lazy spin when changing clothes like in sims 2, or anything else really. So there simply is no point to ever giving that trait to a sim, since it will not make them behave lazily as it should. Any other traits like that you can think of that might as well be avoided in favour of traits that do what they should be doing?
Premade community lots that can not be recategorized?
Is there a list of community lots that can't be used for anything else than what the shipped for? I want to build a scout camp (runaway lot) on the deep forest lot of Granite Falls, but then I recall there is a NPC sim hanging out there? Is that lot or sim unwise to adjust? I also think The Meadows in San Myshuno and the Von Haunt Estate in Windenburg can not be given another lot category. Are there more lots that are stuck with their initial purpose? I know wed can adjust the builds, and maybe we can still throw a scout camp at the deep forest lot without recategorizing the lot, but as I think the restricted lots are quite few, a total list would come handy.Enchanted By Nature Positive Thoughts Thread

How Do You Decide Where To Live?
There are so many worlds in the game now, I just cannot decide what to do. Usually I play on rotation in the same game save and use maybe four or five different worlds for the sims to live in, but I am still missing out on so many! How do you decide which world your sims will live in and how often do you change worlds? Do you have any worlds just for community lots or vacation lots or other specific types? ---------------------------------------------- UPDATE: Thank you so much to everyone who replied ❤️ I've gotten some good ideas and think I am going to be less regimented from now on! I am going to just go with a random number of households in all the worlds that I think will suit their storyline, just swapping whenever I feel like it, and do ageing for everyone on long lifespan. I will keep Newcrest for a big variety of community lots and a couple of my less favourite worlds are going to be just for vacations. I can't wait to start!
Will Life and Death EP be Discounted at 50% on Oct. 31st Onward?
Currently Life and Death EP is still at 38% off during a sale. I read from reddit that EPs only become discounted at 50% after a year and Life and Death EP will have been out for a year on Oct. 31st. Do you think it will go up to 50% off by then or do we need to wait for the next sale after the current one? Something very strange just happened in my game. Very odd indeed. I was looking for Melodie when I came upon this oddity: And then things glitched out: Bab's Glory still a foal, morphed out for a bit and then came down the slide. Has anyone been able to trigger the Danger Kid formative challenge? I really want a particular child to do this but cannot think of many 'dangerous' things for him to do which may trigger it. I had him play out in the rain during a thunderstorm, play with a cooking fire pit and I had him try to talk to the monster under the bed... I thought one of those would have done it but, nope. I also just tried the 'start formative challenge' option but Danger Kid didn't appear. Any ideas?
