[b]Welcome to BNS 185: Let's Play[/b] (Note: This is the long-delayed follow-up to BNS 180: Let it Snow, which introduced the elves and their quest to learn to build better doll houses and superhero lairs). You stretch out on your couch after a long weekend in the North Pole. You have really enjoyed your time teaching the elves about different types of architectural designs, but it has been a bit exhausting as well. You just wrapped up the teaching part of the job, and youāre pleased with the progress the elves have made. You have given them their "exam" requirements to build either a dollhouse or action figure/super hero lair using the techniques you have taught them. Now you have a whole month to relax before you have to go back to help "judge" their projects and offer final suggestions to the elves. The Brief: -the budget is $250,000 (this includes the lot cost). -the doll house or lair must have an "open" side, just like a real toy. -keep in mind that a "child" must be able to reach in and play in every room or space you create. -it should be at least two stories high with a staircase or ladder as well as a bathroom. -it should have at least 6 different rooms/spaces to play in. -don't forget to landscape. The Sim Challenge: -create a family or group of superheroes/action figures with at least 4 sims. -you can pick all traits, likes, dislikes, and other details. -show them enjoying the house or lair. Diary of a Country Girl
Hi everyone. š This is the continuation of a story I started back in March on the old Vanilla forum. If you were a regular follower of the 'What Happened In You Game Today' thread, you already know Aurora and her little family. Her save started out as just for fun. To explore things within the game that I never had before. I was just going to share a few screenshots with captions. The original idea for this save was to only be about Aurora and her sidekick, her Bernese, Piccolo. But I realized a couple of weeks ago that, yeah, it had become a story. And it deserved its own space here on the new forum. This post and the next couple will help those of you who aren't familiar, become familiar. And since the previous updates were scattered over like 75-100 pages of the old WHIYGT thread it's a nice reminder for everyone that had been following along. The title is also a hint at another change. I'm going to start writing each update like it was an entry in Aurora's diary. I may still write something here and there in a more traditional style with dialogue though. I'm also getting ready to start the reboot of my other story and by writing this one like a diary it's a lot easier to do both and still keep this interesting. So let me introduce you to everyone. Aurora Westbrook-Carter Aurora came back to her country roots. Her parents left Chestnut Ridge just as she entered her teens. She still came back to see her grandparents during the summers. She loved those visits and getting away from the city. After graduating high school she went to art school where she honed her painting and photography skills. But she never lost her love for the quiet country life in Chestnut Ridge. Now she's back where she feels most at home. Tre Carter Aurora's husband Tre came from an entirely different background. He grew up on the streets of Del Sol Valley just like his father. His mother came from Ciudad Enamorada. Yet Tre has always fascinated by the country life. He has an abiding love for horses too. Even if his first real life encounters weren't exactly smooth. Piccolo Aurora's loyal sidekick. Peanut (l), Nashville(back), and Spirit Peanut is Aurora's champion American Saddlebred. The Whittaker Saga: 1940s: 1940s: V-E Day and Atom Bombs (updated 10/8)
I was vastly inspired when reading the decades challenge, and as a history teacher, I could not stop myself from giving it a try. Of course, true to my nature or refusing to do things by the book, the first thing I did was break the rules. How? By creating as my protagonist a single, working woman living on her own! Gasp! Why? Partly because a story popped into my head, but also, partly, to honor the many women who - by choice or necessity - actually worked, and worked hard for their living in the 1890s. We tend to forget them, but the working women were there - from the hard working farmers that we often downgrade by calling wives, as if they weren't an essential part of the economy of the farm, to the working class women working as domestic help or in the factories where they were only payed half of a man's wages. So with that, I introduce Abigail Spencer, a single, working, middle class woman in 1890s Willow Creek: As middle class there is only a few jobs available to Abigail, that of governess or that of teacher. Abigail is therefore a teacher, teaching at Willow Creek Elementary School. She lives right next door to the school, in a small shotgun house with a few chickens and a patch of land to help her make ends meet (teachers really were not payed a lot during this time either). Obviously, her biggest goal in life is to find a husband, get married and start a family so that she won't have to work. (In fact, a teacher, as well as many other working women, automatically lost their job if they got married during this time.) But to get married, she needs to find a husband. Meet Willow Creek's eligible bachelors: Matthew Godeau: Matthew is one of the richest men in Willow Creek. A bit too old to still be a bachelor he lives with his widowed mother in Ophelia house (yes, eventually this family changed their names and became the Goths. Ophelia house is named from Matthew's mother). Pro: Matthew is creative, just like Abigail, as well as a romantic and would be sure to bestow lots of attention on a wife. He lives in one of the biggest houses in town, and is a wealthy business man. Abigail would have a good life with him. Con: His mother. Ophelia is a woman set in her own ways and she is not about to let some silly girl interfere with how she runs her house! Ophelia is mean, materialistic and an overachiever. She is not likely to see some middle class teacher as good enough for her son. Add that she has raised her son to be not only creative and romantic, but also incredibly self absorbed and the household may prove hard to be comfortable with. Joseph Whittaker: Joseph is a novellist, living in the stately Whittaker house, which with time, will be turned into the well renowned Willow Creek Archive. He has no mother (a definite pro), but two very young children. A son and a daughter, from a previous marriage. Pro: Joseph is a bookworm, just like Abigail and is sure look favourably on her past as a teacher. They are also both family orientated which means they are a good match in personalities and would likely find a lot of common ground. The house is ripe with books, and Joseph's two motherless children desperately need a mother to tend to their needs. With two live in maids it's a comfortable life focused on the family and the books she so loves. Con: Joseph very much mourns his dead wife, and keeps her picture on the wall over the fireplace. Can he ever truly love again, or will Abigail forever live in the shadow of the woman he loved and lost? Loyd Brennan: Loyd is the owner of Brennan's Groceries and Dry Goods, the biggest (only) shop in town. He lives with his sister Mary and their dachshund above the store. Pro: Loyd is outgoing and friendly and easy to get along with. He's self assured, but unlike Matthew, not self absorbed. He works hard and provides a good home. As a working man he does not mind a working wife, so Abigail would do more than sit around being pretty. He loves dogs, and anyone who does cannot be bad - right? Con: Living in a store would mean working in the store. There is no way the wife of a store owner is not in that store working along side her husband. Without money for a maid, this involves not just working in the store but running the household as well. The apartment isn't really big enough for a large family and unless Mary gets married, it's bound to be crowded. Then there is the fact that she and Mary does not really get along well. Paul Heydale: Paul is a farmer, living with his entire family at Garden Essence, a farm with a cow, chickens and a whole lot of crops. They're a tight knit family who works hard for what they have. Pros: Paul, like Abigail is both creative and family orientated. He dreams of becoming a painter rather than a farmer. By marrying him, Abigail would be wrapped up in a large family who would be there for her, something she'd never had before. His family is also very friendly, and Abigail teachers his younger sister and has already met and chatted with his mother and father and really likes the entire family. Con: Marrying a farmer would be a step down the social ladder, and the life of a farmer is hard! Is Abigail cut out for working out from early morning to late evening without ever more than making ends meet? And the house is crowded as is, with Paul's parents and two younger siblings (so far). Where would more children live? Is Abigail prepared for the hard life that accompanies this choice? Now I wanted to make a poll, but apparently you cannot do this in this section of the forums. So I'll leave you with a question instead - who do you believe Abigail will most likely fall in love with and why? Matthew Joseph Loyd Paul Finally, here is my Willow Creek in 1890: *** An important note about the future postings in this story: After trying and fighting the forum to get the posts up and running as they are supposed to work, I have now decided that it's simply too much work. Instead, I have started a blog that (hopefully soon) will contain all of the chapters from here and the old forum. I am currently at 1891 and moving forwards quite rapidly. Here the posts of each chapter will be replaced by a link to the chapters in the blog as I move forwards, though I will leave any comments as they are. The massive perk with this is that I do not need to worry about editing in all images manually, and the loading time will decrease enormously without them. The process of reading is also easier at the blog - and while the blog itself is in the wrong order, I have set up a list of all chapters in chronological order for new readers as well as a search function if you are looking for a specific chapter. Another perk is that I have some new options, like character pages where you can get a summary of each of the main character in the story (warnings for spoilers) and a separate page about the challenge, how time moves. I hope I will be able include a link to the family tree as well. It will take some time to get everything set up, and I do appreciate input in the process. I do promise that the story will go on, and hope you will keep reading it and commenting on it either here or on the new blog. Link to the blog.

I was unable to edit and repair some of the pics in my original thread so I'm just starting fresh. š Plus I wanted to change the order of some of the episodes. Introduction Some of you have probably seen various pics of my sim family in the various Screenshots and What Happened threads. I just wanted to gather all those pics and create a thread to help me keep track of what was happening in my game. I've been playing this family since 2018 and what started as a Super Sim Challenge with Julianna eventually evolved into a Super Sim Family Challenge as I became attached to Julianna's and Edward's children. I usually switch off and focus on different family members depending on which career, aspiration, or pack feature I want to focus on. I move family members in and out of the main household as I play them. Edward and Julianna were both created in CAS as single households. I played Julianna for a while, had her start a relationship with Edward and they married shortly afterward. Shown above is Edward, Julianna, and their three daughters, Juliette, Hannah, and Isabel. Also Juliette's two children, Amelia and Asher, with her fiancĆ©e, Sebastian. Amelia and Asher were added to the family in anticipation of High School Years as I didn't have any school age sims in the household when that pack was announced. Juliette and Sebastian's wedding plans are still on hold. In addition to their three daughters, Julianna and Edward also have a young adult son, Theo, who was created in CAS. He was raised by his maternal grandparents. Theo and his wife, Jennifer, have 2 children. Twin toddlers named Grace and Hope. I was super intrigued by Deligracy's Tiny Town Challenge, because it's such a nice mix of gameplay and building. The basic idea is that a group of Sims live together on one lot and each Sim gets their own tiny house in their preferred decor style and color, which has to be funded by utilizing their assigned skill. James Turner is currently also doing the challenge on his YouTube channel and has a nice tool for creating character cards on his website. Are you also playing the Tiny Town Challenge? Thought I would start a traditional 100 baby challenge inspired by other baby challenges, but this one has a twist, you must marry your forever sim and stay with them till death and try to have at least 6 babies per generation till your sim and their generation gets to 100 Babies the old fashioned way!! I wrote up a little set of rules to follow along with. I may not post everything here but I wanted to just add the sim and who he/she is marrying at the time and how far along I've gotten. I know I can, but I just won't. Note that some of my builds are loosely inspired by real world architecture & places. I NEVER share shells. All my builds are fully furnished and carefully landscaped. I NEVER use CC. It's all vanilla ice cream. I NEVER use the TOOL mod. My builds won't explode as soon as you touch something in build mode. I don't know if that actually happens to builds when TOOL's been used, but it will definitely not happen with my builds. Better safe than sorry. I DO use Move Objects On (MOO) but this should NOT affect routing. I use MOO sparingly. Just don't touch anything, please. The build might implode. That was a joke. I ALWAYS playtest and try to ensure there are NO routing issues. If you do happen to encounter routing issues, there could be something wrong with your computer. I am only human, your computer however, is not. Your computer is not. Your computer is not. I own many packs and I will use anything that I believe will make my builds look snazzy. If you're missing a specific blade of grass, that's not my fault. Do you have a special Request? I'm a busy man. I've been addicted to restarting my game over and over and I've been looking for a challenge I can stick with long term, and stop my restart cycle. simgirl1010 Super Sim Family has inspired me to try and stick with one family long term. So, I've taken my very first Sim from the Sims 4 years, and recreated her for a more modern look and feel, and I'm starting her Legacy style. I don't know exactly what rules I'll be following, but my main rule for myself is to just stick with it! We'll see lol. Can this chronic restarter addict be cured? We were all very shocked, didnāt see that coming. Listen, Iām calling because you have been named his sole beneficiary. As the eldest, you get the house, the property and the horses he left behind. Also the contents of his bank account. Your uncle was a very rich man. You are required to attend the reading of the will. How soon can you get here?ā Joseph ran a hand over his head, catching the stray wisps of hair unleashed from the tie that held it together, by his slumber. āTwo months at the earliest. So many loose ends . . .ā *~~*~~*~~*~~* Come the morning, Joseph began the business of resigning his post at the school, and formally withdrawing Aaron, Joey and Brianna from school, securing their records for transfer. Since Erik had already graduated, his last task was to contact TāLar, as she expected Brianna to return to the Temple upon her seventeenth birthday, so she could sit the time-honored Test, the KāMatra; which would be the final assessment of her control over her skills; how far she could project her thoughts, if she could truly Mindmeld with another. These were crucial tests. Bree would be the very first human to do so. TāLar who had been amazingly accommodating to this human family, secured Josephās oath that he and his daughter would return upon Briannaās seventeenth birthday. He obtained a realtor and listed the house for a quick sale. Within two weeks, the family was on their way back to Earth. *~~*~~*~~*~~* āI have to say, that was a rather pleasant, and short trip,ā Louise said. āI told you two months was the norm. Taking a commercial ship, this time helped. Ah, hereās our cab. Come along kids, slide into the back two seats. Iām anxious to see what the old place looks like.ā āHm,ā Brianna said, ālooks remarkable considering its age. When was it built again? Eighteen hundred-seventy-four?ā āExactly four hundred years ago, thatās right. Joe took care of it. He always felt that was his mission, after your Grandpa died. The lot always goes to the eldest son.ā Turning halfway in his front seat, Joseph looked at Aaron āThat means you. I always told you there were perks to being the firstborn.ā āBut itās so big.ā āSolution,ā Erik said, āget married and have children. That should fill the olā place up in no time.ā āBut I donāt even know if I like kids.ā Joey shrugged, āNo worries, I can just move in, wife, kids et al.ā Erik waved his hand under his nose, āJoey, if you donāt learn to bathe more often I doubt youāll even get married. Let alone get physically close enough to make babies.ā āWhat are you saying?ā Joey said. The cab stopped at the curb and the family debarked. Taking their luggage, the family began to explore their new residence. āWow, look at this place, itās like a moment out of time,ā Erik said. As they entered the front door, a small living room space was to their left. On the right was a set of wooden double-doors, he top half of the doors also made of ornate glass leading into what Erik spied was a music room. āWhoa, look at that grand piano! Oh, hey, I love this place already.ā Moving through the hallway, veering to the left the family found themselves in the kitchen. Sadly, the island, with half of it burnt remained, a solemn, sad memory of just why they were here. Joseph caught his breath, āI thought Mr. Noel said this had been cleaned up.ā āSpooky,ā Joey said. āItās okay, heās not here,ā Brianna said. āHe was a steadfast Believer, and he has gone to his reward. Welcome to my reboot of Under The Tartosan Sun.š The original story was my first try at writing SimLit. It's been crazy fun and I've learned and grown so much since April '22 when this journey started. These characters are very special to me and I wanted to start again and use all that I've learned in that time to make their story even better. Since I was starting over I wanted to go back in time. Back to when Danielle, Londyn, and the others were just graduating high school and embarking on adulthood. Before Danielle and Londyn, Liberty and Matteo, and Summer and Darian met and fell in love in Tartosa. For some itās university. For others itās chasing their dreams along a different path. The early chapters are going to explore what made each of them who they are. It's also a chance to right a few wrongs. Things like the characters too perfect lives. Romantic relationships that went from 0 to soulmates in no time. Secondary characters and storylines that went nowhere. I'm also bringing a character over from another story that is on hiatus, and for all intents and purposes done. Johnny Zest/Mimi Eleganza/The Lady Mimi is one of my favorites and many readers have mentioned how much they enjoyed the character as well. I'll be updating and adding new character bios as time goes by. For now I'm starting out with two bios, one for each group of roommates/dorm mates, Danielle, Summer, and Liberty, and Londyn, Venessa, and Johnny/Mimi. Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy the story as much as I do writing it. ā¤ļø (L to R) Danielle Chabert / Liberty Lee / Summer Holiday Danielle, Summer, and Liberty have been friends for almost their entire lives. They met in the first grade and have been nearly inseparable ever since. So it's no surprise they're going to be dorm mates at Foxbury Institute. Danielle comes from a creative family. Her mother is an accomplished painter and her dad is jazz musician playing in the clubs around Willow Creek. Though her mom pressured her to be an artist, painting was only a hobby. Danielle's dream is to be a romance novelist. Liberty's mom is an investment banker and her father is a video game designer. Liberty is an avid gamer and daddy's girl who dreamt of being an astronaut when she was younger. Now she's fascinated by psychology and computers. She's doing a double major in psychology and computer science with hopes of becoming a forensic psychologist or cybersecurity expert. Summer was born to do one thing, cook. It's in her genes. Her mother and her mother's side of the family are almost all chefs. Her dad is a bandmate with Danielle's father so her family is steeped in the two things Willow Creek is most famous for, sinfully delicious food and hot jazz music. Her dream is to become a famous chef and own her own restaurants or have a tv cooking show. Maybe both. (L to R) Venessa Jeong / Londyn Huntley / Johnny Landgraab-Mimi Eleganza-The Lady Mimi Londyn, Venessa, and Johnny/Mimi all come from different backgrounds and different parts of the country. But they have a lot in common. All three on part of the LGBTQ community, Venessa and Londyn are lesbians, and Johnny/Mimi is trans/non-binary. They also dream of fame and fortune. Venessa grew up in Chestnut Ridge, but she always believed Del Sol Valley was where she was meant to be. She took advantage of every opportunity she could find to get in front of a crowd and perform. Growing up in a rural area those opportunities were few and far between. But she wasn't going to be deterred. Now she's accomplished the first objective, move to Del Sol Valley. Now the hard work begins. Venessa has the talent and determination to make it big. Londyn is an island girl at heart. She grew up in sunny Sulani dreaming of stardom in faraway Del Sol Valley. Some of her earliest memories were of sitting with her mom watching the Starlight Accolades. And countless movies. As Londyn reached her teen years she knew early that she was attracted to other girls. It was a source of tension at times between her and her parents. They loved her but they didn't support her being out and proud. But through it all her parents supported her acting ambitions. Londyn has always dreamed big, now it's time to make those dreams come true. Johnny/Mimi grew up in nearby Oasis Springs. From an early age there was a disconnect between their body and their heart and mind. Mimi never felt like the boy everyone else said they were. As the years passed and life at home and at school became nightmarish Mimi found an escape in the world of drag. Mimi idolized the performers. The club scene in Del Sol Valley is a Mecca for gender outlaws like Mimi and a launching pad from some of the world's top drag performers. A list Mimi is determined to add their name too. Sul sul, everyone. Itās been a long time since I wrote any Simlit. My last āslice of lifeā story was fun to write, but I couldnāt resist the temptation to create a plot line for every Sim my main character met. I had lots of fun coming up with the stories-within-a-story, but the result was a sprawling tale on which I couldnāt focus. No wonder it fizzled out. I think Iād like to try again, with a story I plan to keep very simple. I wonāt let it spawn a half-dozen spinoffsā¦or if I do, Iāll give each its own story. I keep saying āI,ā but truthfully, my Simworld is a collaborative project involving my daughter, Z, and me. Z loves a good story as much as I do, and she is also a very talented creator of Sims. This afternoon, Z mentioned how much fun sheād had creating our last story together. Now weāve decided to tell another tale from our Simworld. (We thought about doing a story last winter, but we decided to wait until after the new forum opened.) Our heroine will be a Sim Z created when she was filling our Gallery with Young Adults whom we hoped our game would cast as Foxbury and Britechester students. Instead, this Sim was assigned to a food stall in Newcrest, and the game rolled a particularly unfortunate set of traits for her: Squeamish, Kleptomaniac, and Snob. The thought of a stuck-up young woman hawking burgers from a stall, stealing from the till, and shrieking when she encountered an insect amused us, but Z pointed out that she couldnāt wrap her head around the thought of the sweet Sim she created turning into a villain or a wacky source of comic relief. So, we went back to our Gallery version of her, and weāre happy to cast her in the lead role of our new story. Weāve created a simple setting and a basic backstory for her: a āhere she is, and hereās how she got hereā sort of thing. Iāll share that with you in the opening chapters of her story. For now, Iāll just tell you her name: Beth Ellicott. Z and I have a basic idea of what Beth might like to do with her life, but as you well know, the game often directs Sims on other paths. So I have no idea how her story will turn out. Weāre placing her in a world populated with Sims Z created, along with a few we found in the Gallery. You wonāt encounter Landgraabs or Goths or Pancakes here. The setting is the save file created by the wonderfully talented SweetieWright84, with a few other buildings weāve found sprinkled in. I also decided Iām not about to try writing a Simlit story on this forum. I donāt think itās well-suited for that type of thread. So, Iāll post it on the Answers HQ forum, which is set up much more like the āoldā Sims forum. Once I write my first post there, Iāll link it to this thread, and I'll stop back in to let you know when a new chapter has been posted. Hopefully some of you will want to follow the story. š Some of the Simlit authors Iāve read create story arcs worthy of professional writers. That is absolutely not me. I donāt have a plot outline in my head, and neither does Z. So Beth might not do anything exciting at all. Or, she might live a life full of adventure. Weāll all find out together.
