One Month One World One Year Challenge 2026
Hello and welcome. :) This challenge was started by Karababy52 (see more here) and I would like to continue it on for another year if I can. Hopefully more people can join in. The more the merrier! The premise of this challenge is pretty simple. The goal is to post one in-game screenshot once a day during the 2026 year. So, kind of like a 365 project for your sims. You will start out with a teen sim and pick your starting world. I'll share a list of suggestions, but really you can pick whatever you want. Your sim will be a teen for 3 real world months, then age-up to Young Adult in April. They will spend 4 months as a Young Adult, then age-up to Adult in July. They will spend 4 more months as an Adult, then age-up to Elder in December. Each month your sim will move to a new world to explore. I've taken all the rules and guidelines here and copied them over from Karababy52's 2023 post and edited them slightly. Rules/Guidelines: One screenshot post per real life day in this thread with a short text summary. One world per real life month - See monthly schedule of worlds in spoiler below. Optional: May change schedule of worlds to reflect your preferences. Your challenge Sim MUST be a teen to officially begin this challenge and post in the thread. Exception: If you are starting the challenge late, you may begin in the current month at whatever age the challenge is at, or you may start as a teen to quickly finish your aspiration and school, then fast forward to the current age. (Example - if you start in April you may hurry through the teen stage and age up to YA, or just start as YA). After three real life months have passed, your Sim will age up to young adult for four months, adult for four months and finally, age up to an elder for December. Timeline posted in spoiler below. Optional: How long your Sim stays in each life stage, teen-elder, is at your own discretion. However, they are required to be at minimum a young adult to attend Uni in Britechester. *Note: If you own the High School Years EP, your Sims may be offered early graduation. If they take the offer, your teen is allowed to apply, enroll, and attend university or join full-time adult careers. Begin Rags to Riches style on an empty lot with 0 simoleons. Optional: Use the 20,000 starting simoleons to buy a starter home and furnish it how you want. Aging off. Optional: May use long lifespan. All unplayed residential worlds are off limits for any kind of travel. Exception: Newcrest may be designated a 'neutral' world to place venues for your Sim to use regardless of their current world residence. Optional: Newcrest may be used to replace a pack you don't own instead. Optional: Your sim may travel to other worlds not used in the challenge if they get an invitation. Sims may take a vacation to any of the designated vacations worlds. Rental lots in unplayed residential worlds are off limits. Aspirations released with a world must be fulfilled first. May choose a base game or other pack aspiration not in the challenge to complete afterward. Optional: Only one aspiration released with a world must be completed before choosing base game or other pack aspirations. Willow Creek, Oasis Springs, Newcrest and Magnolia Promenade may be used in substitution for worlds listed in the challenge for packs you may not own. In that event, choose one or two base game or other packs aspirations not in the challenge to complete per world. Your Sim may marry and/or have children. Aging up children is at your own discretion. High School attendance is not required. May use cheats to fulfill daily/promotional task requirements. *Exception: Applicable only if you do not own the High School Years EP or if you do own it, but have elected not to have your Sim live in Copperdale and do the aspirations associated with the EP in your challenge. The beginning of each new month/world starts Rags to Riches style. Optional: Your Sim may keep everything they have accumulated and use their funds to buy or build a new house, or even move their house to their new world. If your challenge Sim dies, it's game over. Optional: You may bring them back to life and continue or use another existing Sim in the household to complete the challenge. Or, keep playing as a ghost! Occult states and Celebrity statuses must be removed when progressing to the next month/world. Optional: May keep acquired lifestates/statuses. *Note: Vampires can't get a suntan, which is a Beach Life aspiration task. If a new world is released with a new pack at any time during 2026, you have the option to swap the new world with another prior released world. Give yourself a break and don't stress over days missed due to internet outages, vacations/holidays, real life work/responsibilities or sickness. Extra story screenshots may be posted, but try to keep it to around 5-10 max. There's no limit for screenshots shared on your blog. May use satisfaction points to buy rewards. Exception: Money tree seeds are disallowed. Lottery tickets are disallowed for purchase. Beginning season, length of days and moon phases are your choice. May turn off or cheat away/change all Eco Lifestyle features applied to worlds. Exception: Must be turned on while living in Evergreen Harbor. May participate in all default Holidays, modify, delete and/or add your own. May include a link to your preferred Blog site with additional story text/screenshots, in addition to your Daily Post Pic/Text Summary. Mod friendly challenge! However, please use discretion when using them. Using a mod to fulfill an aspiration is disallowed. Exception: May be used to correct bugs and/or glitches. Beautiful but Buried...
Sul Sul Simmers!🤗 I have had so much going on these days that I haven't been able to post! So, I am coming back with a build I did for QTSimz shell number 3 challenge. QT had a shell that was partly built but I decided to go a whole different route. I deleted everything but the walls and I added the second story, which was allowed. I had a little inspiration from a picture I had seen of a home with a second story greenhouse (although I would call this more a sunroom, since it's not growing anything.) I wanted this home to feel open and airy with an open concept floorplan. I also wanted it to be a little isolated, so I built it on the little island in Tartosa. On the first floor, you will find the kitchen with pantry, office, half bath, living room with access to a small balcony to play chess, dining room and a piano space. On the exterior, under the stairs on the back of the home, you will find the laundry. In the front of the home, you will find a gathering space. On the second floor, you will find the bedroom, bathroom, open porch, sunroom and small gardening area with some gorgeous views. This is the view from above. I have also attached some pictures of the interior for your enjoyment. Unfortunately, with the way gallery is currently not many people were able to see this build when I uploaded it, but I am hoping that through the hashtags those that seek this build style will find it. Dumpster Diving Challenge
The Dumpster Challenge focuses on extreme sustainability and creative repurposing. Phase 1: Setup & Constraints Create Your Sim: Start with a Young Adult (YA) Sim. You can create a new one or use a Sim from a previous gameplay session. Essential Trait: Your Sim must have the Freegan trait. Other traits are up to your preference. Initial Purchase: Before setting your funds to zero, you must purchase a lunchbox or cooler. This serves as your food storage until you can acquire a refrigerator. Financial Reset: Use cheats to set your family funds to 0 simoleons. Phase 2: Starting the Grind Location: Move to a lot of your choice, then immediately travel to Evergreen Harbor. The First Dive: Dumpster dive in every dumpster in the area until they are all empty. Maintenance: Any appliances found in the trash must be repaired before use. Hygiene & Bladder: If there is a public bathroom in your world, you must use it for these needs until you have functional plumbing on your home lot. Phase 3: Furnishing Rules Exchange Policy: All furniture must be "exchanged" for the exact item you find. The Duplicate Rule: You can only sell an item if it is a duplicate (e.g., if you find three couches, you keep one and sell the other two). Permanence: Once you choose which version of an item to keep, that choice is permanent. Decorations: These are the only items you are permitted to purchase with simoleons, unless you happen to find them while diving. Phase 4: Building Your Home The 5,000 Milestone: You cannot begin structural building (walls/floors) until your family funds reach 5,000 simoleons. Room Requirements: You can only add a physical room to the house once you have acquired all necessary furnishings for that specific room. Example: To build a bathroom, you must already own a sink, a tub or shower, and a toilet. Phase 5: Completion The Goal: The challenge is officially complete once every room in your house is fully built and completely furnished. Final Touch: Once the structural and functional requirements are met, you are free to decorate the home however you like.Rags to Sustainability Challenge
1. The Setup The World: Must be a world you have never played in. The Career: Must be a job or business you have never pursued. The Start: Begin with $0 Simoleons. You can only earn money through fishing initially. 2. The Business & Gardening Rules Seed Ban: You cannot buy seeds from the computer or build mode. Foraging Only: All seeds must be planted. Profit Rule: You may only sell harvested items that cannot be used for your specific business (e.g., selling flowers because you only need fruit for fizzing). 3. Milestones & Building Construction: No building is allowed until you have saved $2,000 Simoleons. The Spouse: They can only have a job if your main Sim also has one. Otherwise, they must help with the business without being a formal employee. The Family: Childcare and business duties must be shared between partners. 4. The Win Condition Custom Ending: You may adjust this final number to whatever amount you personally consider "sustainable." Which world and career path are you planning to tackle for this new run?
Creek Tales - A Pack Legacy Challenge (updated 04/25)
When Maxis introduced the option of turning packs off and on in game, I was wildly tempted to create a Pack Legacy Challenge for the game. Of course, someone else already did, but as usual, I'm all about creating my own rules based on my own playing style and play badly when others dictate my game, which of course means I'll make the rules up as I go, still there are a few basics. Basic guidelines I intend follow: I will start with an entirely base game family, the Creek-family (introduced below). They (including the kids) are generation 1 of this challenge. With every new generation at least one new pack (EP, GP, SP or Kit) will be unlocked. That generation then has to truly explore that pack, meaning jobs, looks, decorations, aspirations, traits, skills even deaths should be explored to the fullest by the sims born in that generation. The exception is seasons, which will be unlocked as the oldest child of gen 1, Willow, ages up to a teen. Which pack that will be unlocked will depend on the first trait given to the first child in the next generation (so a family orientated child will unlock parenthood or growing together, depending on which have been unlocked before). Some traits only unlock kits. In that case the second trait given to a child of that generation will unlock a pack. Some kits will also be unlocked with a specific pack if it feels like a good combination, like country kitchen with cottage living or industrial loft with city living. And some rules (yes, even I have a few rules): All traits are to be given randomly, with the exceptions being that a sim of a new generation MUST take traits of a newly unlocked pack if there are any, randomly if there are several. When every trait of the newly unlocked pack is assigned to a sim in game, randomness for all available traits are allowed. When the first child of the next generation receive their first trait, true randomness applies as that will dictate the next pack to unlock. A new pack is unlocked when the oldest child of a generation ages up to teen. No CC is allowed, a part from the occasional ad-on pack (separations of items already in game, matching chairs to a sofa or more window options). Even add-ons should be kept to a minimum. This is after all about exploring the packs to their fullest. Mods are allowed, but not those that significantly adds gameplay options (such as career-mods, new aspirations, traits or new gameplay). The purpose here is to explore the options of the packs after all. For me, myself, I intend to start out only with BetterBuildBuy and MCCC and try to keep other mods to a minimum (that lasted less than an hour, there are simply too many things I cannot live with in game, but the aim is the same, keep mods to a minimum and no mods that adds gameplay). As for the rest, well that's up in the air still. I plan on starting with aging on normal, but as that is very new to me, I might change that to long instead as I've never managed to live with normal age span before. Either way, adult lifespan will be about twice the usual length for how else are they going to be able to see their kids grow up and have kids of their own? Reaching an arm out from underneath the covers, Joseph groped for his cellphone on the nightstand. “This is Joseph Cantrell,” he said. The voice on the other end was unfamiliar. The man introduced himself as Walter Noel. “I’m your uncle’s . . . lawyer. I’m very sorry to bring this news to you. But the old gent deceased last night. Kitchen fire.” Slowly, Joseph unwound himself from the bed covers to sit up. “So, he was still able to care for himself at his lofty age.” “Oh, absolutely, in fact he insisted. Said he’s always been on his own and it would be a cold day in Hades were he to surrender himself to the care of another. Not even his valet. He often went down to the kitchen to make and get his own coffee, too. I guess old habits die hard. Pardon the phrase.” “That sounds like Uncle Joe. Capable to the end, except for the fire.” “Yes. We were all very shocked, didn’t see that coming. Listen, I’m calling because you have been named his sole-beneficiary. Your father’s sudden death left a vacancy, some years back. His next younger brother, Joseph, stepped up to fill it. Joseph was meant to be regent, since he was to care for Aaron’s children, getting them ready for the role they would fulfill in the future. It should have been you on the Throne and the nation wouldn’t be facing all of this now. But he insisted you were still much too young and dare I say, immature, in his estimation.” “He was right on that. I enlisted in the military shortly thereafter, which helped me to become a man. Saw a good chunk of the universe, as a result. My service also enabled me to fund my college education, the GI Bill, revised and renewed. A great deal of good came out of it.” “Yes, His Majesty spoke of you often. He couldn’t have been more proud of you were you his own son. You’ll be pleased to know he’s made some changes to the estate that I do believe you will approve of. It is beginning to take the shape of a proper home, as it were. “As the eldest, the crown is yours. Joseph had no issue and yours is the proper line of succession, as your father’s firstborn son. Although in the interim, Alexandra has stepped in where she had no place. But such is palace intrigued. You get the dwelling, the property and the horses Joseph the First left behind. Also, the contents of his bank account. Your uncle was a very rich man. You are required to attend the reading of the will. How soon can you get here? And, of course after DNA testing there will be a ceremony to cement your position.” “Yes, of course. Can’t be too careful, I suppose. And I am also aware of the steps of Nobility I need to fulfil beforehand, too.” Joseph ran a hand over his head, catching the stray wisps of dark red hair unleashed from the tie that held it together during his slumber. “Two months at the earliest. We’re currently residing on Vulcan.” “Vulcan! He told me you were far away. I didn’t anticipate off planet. I shall postpone the reading, then. Since no one else is mentioned in his will, and there is no one else who can or should step up, we have that luxury. We just have to do something about Alexandra, you understand. Get you properly inserted as the head of the dynasty. It could cause disagreeable feelings toward you, which I regret. Nothing more disruptive than unrest in a dynasty. Your siblings, of course, will also be there. In order to help facilitate a timelier arrival, I shall send the royal space vessel to pick up you and your family — is two weeks time enough to get your affairs in order, sir?” “We will make it work. Thank you for calling.” Joseph quietly ended the call and set his phone aside. Early, the Vulcan sun not yet up, he was tired, but expected not to sleep, even so. At least now he understood his feelings of unrest, most recently. Most of his children, in varying strength inherited the psychic abilities that ran through his noble family. Hearing a slight noise, he looked toward the bedroom door. *~~*~*~~*~~* “Dad, what is it, what’s wrong?” Erik said, stumbling groggily into his parents’ room. His father was seated on the edge of the rumpled bed, his mother surprisingly fast asleep. Must have taken a sedative, the boy thought to himself. For the first time in his young life, his father looked on the worn side. Haggard. A tad older, as if he suddenly carried the weight of the world on his shoulders. “I do wish I understood just how you do that. Know something is wrong without anyone having to tell you.” Erik merely shrugged. “I’m not as astute at it, as my dear sister.” Clearing his throat, Joseph said, “It’s your Grand-Uncle,” Joseph said, struggling to get the words out, lest he give into the grief that battered the back of his eyes. For all of the old man’s faults, Joseph loved him dearly. His uncle was a caring and affectionate force in the Cantrell children’s lives truly filling in where their father had left off. “The one you were named for?” Erik said. “He’s ancient, isn’t he?” “You might say so, he just had his one-hundred and fourth birthday. Last time I saw him he was still so full of life. You can’t keep that one down,” “Dad?” “Kitchen fire. He apparently tried to put it out, but his efforts were futile. Smoke inhalation.” “I’m so sorry.” “What a guy he was, though, I remember when . . .” “So you’re saying Uncle Joe basically raised you and your siblings,” Erik said. Joseph nodded, “After your grandfather passed so suddenly, Uncle Joe did come to live with my siblings and me, in the family estate. You see, your grandmother died years before, fell off her horse. Broke her neck, she died instantly.” “Oh, that’s terrible. I don’t believe you’ve ever shared that story before.” “Still so painful, losing my mother. Uncle Joe was great. He used to tell such outrageous stories.” For a brief moment Joseph Sr.’s, mouth curved into the slightest of grins. “I’m guessing that’s where you get your penchant for such. In many ways you remind me of him.” Joseph shook his head. “We didn’t know you couldn’t see well, but you made up some of the most delicious stories about what you were seeing in the picture books. My favorite was the angels dancing on the top of candles.” “Okay, maybe. -- Is that what I told you?" Erik never met the man, but he used to relish the stories his aunt and uncles shared whenever they came to visit. His father’s family was very close. He knew his dad was really hurting over this loss, too. Reaching over, he placed a warm hand on his father’s shoulder. “Are you going to be okay?” Placing a hand over Erik’s Joseph nodded, slowly. “That’s enough reminiscing for now. Why don’t you turn in and get some rest. We have lots to do, in just a few days. So many loose ends . . . before I ascend the throne,” Joseph’s voice was nearly a whisper as his voice trailed off. “What? Dad, did you say throne, what throne? What are you talking about? Are you saying we’re royals? I don’t believe it. How come I’m just hearing about this now? Why did you let me dream about my future. to become a rock star? That can’t be possible now, can it?” Erik watched his father closely, waiting for his response, hoping beyond hope his dreams hadn’t just been dashed. “Did you never wonder why your aunt and uncles always visited us all dressed up as if they had just been to Court or a fancy ball? Lady and Gentlemen. Princes and Princess, of the Royal. That’s their titles when their father is king. You, too, will be a Prince.” Erik sat on the bed next to his father gasping for breath as he hyperventilated. “Easy, Erik, slowly in and out, you’re going to be fine, I promise. Besides, you’re the Second Son, like Spock. I will permit you to pursue your dream, but there are other things I’ve been remiss in teaching you. University, for one, to make sure each of you can competently take the throne, if needed. “You’ll each have to learn fencing lest a duel be required. Archery. Diplomacy, that sort of thing. How to be a Noble. You already are a leader, I can tell.” “But I’m the second son. . ..” “As for not telling any of you — I promise I will explain things more fully when we get settled into the estate. The Merfolk of the Sulani Seas (Updated 04/23/2026)
Only update right now is that I am making the decision to share my story in a blog. My objective is to continue to follow the Positive Play Charter as a guideline for what I share in a story, but without the restrictions of False Flags resulting in the loss of writing progress. The story will be shared in the blog, but I will continue to share what I can here. Overtime, I'll add to this post to expand the Table of Contents and make it easier to access the chapters. The Denizens of the Sulani Seas (Updated: 05/18/2025) SimLit Tips in the New Forums One of the things I noticed when the new forums were created was that not everything transferred here looking the way it was supposed to. I opted out of having my story transferred for me and took a great deal of time working through a lot of troubleshooting to find the easiest way to share longer posts. In the comments of this thread, I had a great deal of help from the community as I worked on transferring chapters from Answers HQ. Now that the transfer to the new forums is complete, I think I found the best way to get around the Forums tendency to Auto-Refresh the webpage and erase all progress instead of saving it. My suggestion is in the following link. I will update it with any other findings and suggestions can be shared there so everyone can benefit from them. It's possible this has been fixed while I was away, but I think this suggestion can still be helpful. SimLit Posting Suggestion after Troubleshooting With the list of merfolk in my story expanding over time, I wanted to set aside a space for the character profiles involving the merfolk in my story. Character Profiles will be organized around the Family Groups, or pods, my merfolk belong in. Check out the linked thread to stay updated on the Merfolk Pods in all my stories. Oh My Word... I'm Back Again!
Hi, just (re)introducing myself. I was on here in this delightfully creative corner of the interwebs a lot of years ago and I have somehow found my way back. I am working on a new story (legacy/rags to riches sort of fusion-esque thingy) so the plan is to post updates here, for those who are looking for punishment bedtime reading. Two new builds: a Colosseum and a mosque!
Hi everyone, I figured I'd use this as a showcase thread for builds I want to share, rather than spamming new posts each time. I've just uploaded two new builds: a Colosseum and a mosque. I hope you like them! See here for screenshots. Original post: Hi everyone, This is my first post in a very long time—since The Sims 3 days, in fact. I wanted to share a lot I built almost two years ago (though I only just uploaded it). It's a big one, and one that uses objects in pretty unexpected ways. With all my builds, there is no CC, nor mods used. This is St. Agnes' Cathedral! I drew inspiration primarily from Westminster Abbey, York Minster, and Notre Dame. And the name is of course inspired by Agnes Crumplebottom of Henford-on-Bagley, the world in which I built the lot. I think this build will complement Royalty and Legacy gameplay well; an apt addition to your kingdoms! But note that, because I built this so long ago, the packs used are relatively old, so Royalty and Legacy isn't required. I guess this discussion could become a showcase of some of my lots that I have built/will build in the future. I have so many ideas and always try to use objects in creative ways, so I'd love to keep sharing more. If you download it, let me know what you think of it. 🌎Planet Premades Monthly Challenge🌎
This will be the main post that I update monthly from here on out. Every month we will makeover a premade household from a preselected world. A wheel will be spun to see which household will be chosen. Everyone is welcome to participate. You will have the full month to get your submissions in. Upload with the #planetpremades No CC, No Defaults You can do 1,2, or all 3 of the following for the challenge: 1. Makeover the sim(s) in cas. 2. Create room(s) that represent the sim(s). 3. Remodel/build a home for the household. I will upload the sims and their home to the gallery under my ID: ShellyE1, this way if you want to quickly grab it you can, or if you don't have that pack but would still like to participate, you can have the base of the sims and their home. All submissions will be streamed on my Twitch channel. I can't wait to see your submissions!
