EA wants to know why I stopped playing the Sims 4? Sure!
Brace yourselves, this is gonna be a long one. My main three issues with the Sims 4 are the behaviours of the Sims themselves, packs being asynchronous from one another, and the lack of freedom when it comes to deciding how you want your sim to live their lives (LTWs/parties). Sims in the Sims 4 act like lobotomites (a la Fallout: New Vegas, Old World Blues). They are constantly either bouncing off the walls with happiness like a six year old on Christmas morning or complaining, have no mind of their own, and cannot figure out how to do anything on their own. Yes, in 2 and 3 respectively you do have to take care of your Sims. That’s one of the biggest gameplay aspects of the franchise. But at least in those games, Sims have the common sense to use the toilet when they need to, make food when they’re hungry, and sleep when they need to. In Sims 4 unfortunately, this is not the case. As an example, in one of many save files I attempted to play through, I had made myself and my boyfriend. We then had a son. This poor child was constantly neglected due to my simself being unable to take care of herself and her child in a timely manner. I had my sim wake up at 7am to take care of her needs before her child woke up. This alone took her 4 hours to complete, with me constantly having to cancel actions of her trying to use the computer, pick up her sleeping son out of his crib (despite the fact that she herself was starving and needed to use the bathroom), or just put on music and dance her little heart out. At 11am, I finally got her together. Her son was a completely different beast entirely. All I wanted her to do was change him, bathe him, and get him fed and in his playmat. This took 5 hours of in game time. Why? Many reasons. For one, she kept putting him on the floor. He was hungry, stinking, and screaming on his bedroom floor. I would have her pick him up to change him. She picked him up, cancelled the action, and put him down again. This went on for a couple cycles before I finally got his diaper changed. Then the bath went on without a hitch, but feeding him was a nightmare. His hunger bar was in the red and he refused to eat anything my sim put in front of him. He hated everything and refused to eat it. Listen, I know babies and toddlers in real life can be picky. But I feel that any child who is on the verge of starving to death would suck it up and eat something! Not helping the situation was my adult sim kept leaving him in the highchair to dance, play on the computer, etc. So by 4pm, my boyfriend’s simself had gotten home from work, and my sim and her son were finally ready to start their day. Sigh. For my own curiosity, I booted up both the Sims 3 and 2 respectively to test out this exact scenario. I made a woman and a toddler son and played until the following morning. Both Sims 3 and Sims 2 were way more simple. My sim in the Sims 3 even had time to watch some TV well before noon. Sims team, if you want to make a good simulation, I shouldn’t have to micromanage my adult sims’ every move to ensure they’re doing what they’re meant to do. This is absolutely ridiculous. Another issue I have with the Sims 4’s sims is how traits do nothing to make your sims individuals. In the Sims 3 and 2, a lazy sim and an active sim will not get along. A sim with the hot-headed trait will fight with a friendly sim. The latter happened with a married couple I had made in the Sims 3. The fighting got so bad (autonomously I’d like to add) that my sims ended up getting a divorce. Can it be annoying for people who want no conflict in their sims game? Sure. But if you want happier sims, make them more compatible with one another. I was faced with this issue head on in the Sims 4: For Rent. I attempted to make an evil sim who was an absolute slumlord. She was anything but. No matter what, if I sent my sim out into the world to make new enemies to roleplay as an evil character, it wouldn’t matter. She’d giddily bounce up to new sims and be as kind as ever. Why? Let the sims be evil! I want my evil sim to go up to sims and pick fights. I want them to have consequences for that behaviour. In the Sims 3 if you had a bad reputation around town, you felt that conflict. Sims would hate your sims off the rip. Your sim would autonomously be mean, no matter who they were talking to. My Sims 4 sim owned an apartment building that was disgusting and had a rat problem. But she’d still get “wants” to fix things and make them better. Why? You’re evil and mean!! Let them suffer while you collect the rent! If I wanted you to be constantly nice and an amazing landlord, I’d have made you that way. Removing all ability to interact with others in a variety of different ways and face consequences for those actions (sims hating your sim, having a hard time making friends, etc.) removes all sense of actual challenge from your game. Let’s move on to my second main gripe, the packs have no synergy with one another. This has been brought up many times by many different Simmers (FakeGamerGirl comes to mind) so I won’t harp too long about it, but seriously. You guys have 20 different events going on at any time in the game. Festivals in various worlds, spirit week or whatever at the university, prom every week for some strange reason, PLUS your mandatory events that do not go away. The one that was happening last time I played was the one with Emit Relevart from TS3 Into the Future. It’s overwhelming, lags the game beyond belief, and I haven't even gotten into the ridiculous “holidays’ from Seasons. Love Day, Leisure Day, Spooky Day/Harvestfest and Snowflake Day from TS3 were enough guys. I shouldn’t have to turn off things and configure my game when I start a new save. It’s annoying. Please make a way in the options to configure these things to players’ likings, or cut the crap out of the game. Lastly, I want to talk about events and lifetime wishes. In the Sims 4, if I want to have a “good” party, I have to do a specific interaction x amount of times, do A, B, and C specific interactions, etc. Same thing with lifetime wishes. What about reading to my kid x amount of times makes my sim a good parent? Why do I have to complete everything EA’s way instead of having the freedom to do something how I want? The Sims team, you’re making everything too arbitrary and specific. Just go back to Sims 3/2 lifetime wishes. They have a specific goal in mind, yes, but how my sim completes that goal is up to them and it is on their time. My Sims in TS3 just want to max out skills, get to the top of their career, etc. Yes there are skill requirements (and ugh, family friends in TS2), but other than that, how my sim goes about it is up to me. In the Sims 3, if I want my sim to complete Surrounded by Family, I just have to raise 5 kids. I don’t have to complete arbitrary nonsense like talking to the children x amount of times, or do whatever interaction x amount of times, I just need to raise the kids. If my Family sim in TS2 wants to graduate three kids from college, that’s the end of it. Get them to have three kids and put them all through college. No arbitrary hoops to jump through, no specific requirements other than raising the kids and sending them off to college, getting them through college, and that’s it. And there’s no nostalgia blinders on here. I actively play these games all the time. So in a final conclusion, beyond the technical issues that I know you all get hounded about everyday, the game is fundamentally broken. Its core mechanics don’t work properly, the Sims are annoying at best and rage-quit inducing at worst (which the Sims 4 has the distinction of being the only Sims game I have actually rage quit, by the way; like either I turn this game off now or I’m throwing my gaming laptop across the room), and there’s too many features that it’s become unsustainable to fix all of their issues. I think you all need to take a step back from the Sims 4, evaluate the mess you’ve created of it, and make some serious changes to how the game functions. And if that isn’t possible within the framework you’ve created, maybe you should reconsider not making a Sims 5. Or at the very least, give the Sims 3 the 64gb patch it deserves for Windows. There’s no reason why I can play other games as old as the mid-2000s with no issues on my gaming laptop, but the Sims 3 I have to constantly clear caches, edit .sgr files, and pray to Will Wright himself that the game won’t take 20 minutes to load into a single save file or crash once I finally start playing. Thank you.geminii_05020913 minutes agoSeasoned Newcomer133Views7likes3CommentsLifespan 4th option?
Not sure if this idea even belongs in this category or not. It's my first time posting. But it's an idea soooo... what-the-hay. 😁🤷 My thought is more of a wish/want/aspiration (lol). I think it would be nice to have a 4th option for lifespan. I just saw a post (or two) about it from past forum topics. But there were only a few touching on this thought, and most recent one on this topic was from, like, three years ago. So, I guess, now I'm wondering if this is something even worth revisiting; or perhaps it's just not a popular enough want...? Remains to be seen. =] Anywho... I have my Sims on "long" lifespan. But that options has kinda become waaaaay too long. And "force-aging" every single one of them is incredibly tedious. But "normal" is too short; as for "short"... yeah, forget about it. lol. So I was thinking "Medium" would be a nice "Default" option. I think it might help reduce the use of the amount (or frequency) of simple cheat codes (IE: fill needs) just to boost early play; mostly in order to enjoy the full scope of "potentials" within game-play. My long-time goal is a legacy. But in the nearly twenty years I've been playing, I've yet to accomplish it. Mostly because game-play has become an incredibly, amazingly immersive experience; which is awesome. But add in (extra) long lifespan, plus everything the game has to offer, and then add in new expansion packs that are deliciously diverting... it becomes too much. IDK if a medium lifespan will help, but it would be a (hopefully simple add) feature that I'd like to see. Okey-doke. That's all I have. Thanks for taking a look-see. Hopefully others feel similarly. If not, no worries. Happy Sim'ing!! 💙👑BluDuchess7 hours agoRising Newcomer8Views0likes0CommentsBundle Suggestion: Get to Work + Seasons + High School Years
Hi EA Team, I’m a big fan of The Sims 4 and wanted to share an idea that could benefit both players and EA. I suggest a bundle including “Get to Work,” “Seasons,” and “High School Years.” These three expansion packs are very popular and offer unique gameplay. Get to Work adds career and active gameplay for Sims. Seasons introduces weather, holidays, and dynamic seasonal changes. High School Years enhances teen gameplay and life-stage experiences. A bundle like this would benefit players because new and returning players could get several fan-favorite packs at once, saving time and money while experiencing a wide variety of gameplay. It would also benefit EA because bundles often boost sales, attract new players, and can encourage purchases of additional packs later. This bundle would make it easier for the community to access multiple key expansions while also giving EA a strong opportunity to increase engagement and revenue. Thank you for considering this suggestion. I hope it’s something the Sims community might see in the future. Best regards, Maryam username leisured-method54Views0likes0CommentsFront door changes
I notice a little annoyance from the Business & Hobbies expansion, nothing serious, but it's annoying and could be easily fixed I think. I assigned my house door to be the "front door". When you open your business for the day it change your business door as the front door of the whole building which is fine, but then when you close the business, it doesn't switch back. So people coming to visit you end up always using the business door, even if it closed, instead of using the house door. It would be handy to have two sorts of front door, business front door for client when the business is open and house front door for friends and all when business is closed. What do you guys think? Game Version: 1.113.291.1020DX11 I have all the Expansion Packs, almost all the Game Pack (Except Wedding Story and Journey to Batuu) I have the following Stuff Packs: Nifty Knitting, Moschino, My First Pet, Laundry Day, Vintage Glamour, Backyard, Romantic Garden, Movie Hangout and Perfect Patio. I also have those Kits: Holiday Celebration Pack, Grim Ghoulish Guitar, Desert Luxe, Decor to the Max and Bust the Dust. I USE ZERO MODS. PC: Windows 11 Edit By Crinrict: Adjusted Title, added pack tag Edit By Crinrict: Adjusted Title EDIT by Kayafulmaniac: As the user Gingerxyz commented : It's not triggered by the business being closed, but it happen when you reload the lot. I just re-tested with my game and the front door keep being reset to the one closer to the place where sims disappear to get off the lot. I seems to happens everytime I quit the lot and come back. (I thought it was related to closing the business, but it was a mistake, the theory of Gingerxyz is the right one! I was able to replicate the bug everytime with it!)kayafulmaniac9 hours agoRising Scout949Views0likes37CommentsRelm of Magic
I think new spells really need to be added and also new ways to spend the pts your earn. I have alot of points to spread but nothing more to add to. I suggest adding controller support to the PC version of the Sims 4, it would be cool! Sims 4 runs very well already on my Steam Deck, with nearly all of the packs installed. Steam Input makes it playable but native controller support would be better, right? I can imagine it working similar to the console version. I could see the game easily shooting into the top played Deck games.3Views0likes0CommentsI love the Butterfly/Moth Habitat so much—I want a version for Frogs/Insects!
I love the butterfly/moth habitat—it looks so good with the butterflies/moths displayed! But now all I can think of is having something like this for frogs, and insects. The normal containers are not the most attractive (besides Death Frog) for all of these—Sims 3 did it better. But if collection habitats/displays were available for these it would be amazing :) It would also be nice if we could place overflow (aka duplicates) of butterflies/moths in there too—so they all can be stored there.29Views3likes0CommentsTabletop Mini Cowplant, and Other Plant Ideas
Let me start off saying I love the fantasy, occult and sci-fi based plants in this game. I enjoy making fantasy gardens over regular gardens, they just look so cool and unique! The Cowplant itself can be an overtaking object for the household—all Sims obsessively play with it. I love the Amuse-Bouche Cowplant Terrarium from Paranormal, but I think it be great if we had an actual Mini Cowplant that can fit in the tabletop plant pot. Forgive my moveobjects merged item example: It be great if a Cowberry is planted in small or tabletop plant pots they produce Mini Cowplants, and instead of producing Essences, they just produce more Cowberries (helpful for self sustaining Cowberries for EbN (instead of buying)). I find it a bit annoying that the Apothecary Table just has buy ingredients as it's version of "sustainable", I rather harvestables. It also be cool if the Sixam Mosquito Trap could fit in the tabletop plant too. Lastly, another small alien plant, at this time we have 2 large/trees but only 3 small, I feel the 4 spot planter would be great if without duplicates, could have 4 different alien plants. Maybe an alien mushroom? And also maybe expand from Crystal Trees, like metal producing bushes or something?35Views3likes0CommentsMiss any features of the sims 3.
So moving to Sim 4 I found my absolutely favourite feature of the sims 3 dispeared... The option. to custom colour everything. I love this feature so much i made a complete custome coloured house that was absolutely stunning. Although i wished you could customise them a bit more like you can for fairy wings in the Sim. Creating a fairy just reminded me of how much I missed that.84Views3likes8CommentsHoliday Play
First off, love the Sims. I've been a Sim-head since I was a child. Super excited for the big update, that will be fixing a lot of different bugs. One thing I would like to see would be more things to do during holidays. Currently, you can only fill the Trick or Treat goal by answering your door, which only Young Adults and older can do. This does not fulfill the goal for Teens or Kids. I would love to be able to have my parent sim, or even my teen, take the kid(s) around the neighborhood to Trick or Treat. Or create a new neighborhood social event, like "Trunk or Treat". Toddlers can even be taken around "in a wagon" for their first Trick or Treat. And more available Halloween costumes to choose from, especially for toddlers and kids! Perhaps watching scary movies can fulfill the "spooky" goal? It would also be cool to be able to have your Sim Family walk around the neighborhood singing carols for Christmas/winter holiday. Not sure if there are MODs that do this, but I don't use them anyway, so having a update or new pack would be sweet. Just some hopes for future features! Neighborhood Stories adds life to unplayed households by letting Sims adopt, retire, move, or have children without direct control. It helps the world feel more alive. Important life events like marriage, divorce, and household changes don’t happen autonomously. This limits natural family progression and forces the player to constantly manage unplayed households to keep family trees evolving. Marriage: Allow Sims to autonomously marry. Divorce: Sims should separate if relationships decline. Moving Out & New Households: Teens/young adults could leave home and create their own households. Joining Other Households: Sims could move in with others through marriage or life changes. These additions would make unplayed Sims’ lives more dynamic, allowing families to grow and change organically. It would reduce micromanagement, make family trees more interesting, and create more immersive storytelling across generations.39Views1like2CommentsDog Walking

So I'm happy that the kids finally got stuff and gameplay dedicated to them with the camp, the playground, the IF and many more things. Infants and toddlers and elders still I feel neglected like with stuff and how the elders don't have their own gameplay dedicated to them. Let's with newborn, infants and toddlers I would like to see pacifiers it can soothe all three to sleep or to stop crying, also imagine trying to ween off a toddler from the Pacifier. Toddlers and Infants with the strollers like I give credit where credit is due to the Devs thank you for having Toddlers and infants more in the world however I would like to see strollers out in the world like in reality you see people walking down the street with the babies in the strollers, even at the parks or when they are walking the dogs. Infants need more equipment like I get the playmate but someone was playing Sims 2 and 3 and I forgot we had a baby swing and I was like omg it made me tear up because I miss those swings, an infant can be in a swing or a bouncy, or a baby rocker. Toddlers now I love they can play at the playground we need the toddler swings the bucket looking ones, the springer playground equipment. A tricycle, motorized cars they can sit in and drive around. Elders we need walkers, canes, maybe even a wheelchair, I know we have dentures in CAS and BB but what if we have a gameplay and a sim with no teeth and they put they teeth in. Or brush they dentures. Elders have a little less strenuous exercise. Also we need a potion so Elder don't have to die from over excersion. Any more thoughts Simmers???28Views2likes1CommentGallery profanity filter should allow NZ word "nīkau/nikau" [AA palms]
As a kiwi, I was so excited to see Adventure Awaits' New Zealand-inspired trees in Gibbi Point. But when I tried to share the debug palm trees on the gallery with a little local knowledge, I was disheartened to find the tree's name (nīkau palm) was a disallowed word. The nīkau palm (pronounced "nee-ko" / "nee-kow") is a native tree of Aotearoa New Zealand, and it’s the name that all New Zealanders use, not just Māori. But the Gallery treats “nīkau” as if it were an offensive term. That’s upsetting, because it means the game can take icons from my country, like our nīkau palm, but I can’t even type its name. There's also the element where, for Māori, our language was suppressed for generations. It’s part of why many of us grew up disconnected from our heritage. Seeing the system flag an innocuous Māori word as profanity is jarring and echoes that silencing in a space that's otherwise inclusive in so many ways. I know this isn’t intentional, and the profanity filter wasn't built with indigenous or New Zealand context in mind. But I’d really appreciate it if EA could review this and allow culturally significant, completely appropriate words like nīkau / nikau that relate directly to content in the latest EP. The profanity filter feedback survey has a broken link, I hope this is the right place to post EA_Cade EA_Solaireclassybananasala2 days agoSeasoned Hotshot79Views2likes6CommentsIt's time for Create a Sim (CAS) to get a Family and Relationships update.
This is something I've just been begging and hoping for since Growing Together and Love Struck came out. I also been posting about this recently on Reddit and Twitter, but Family Dynamics and Relationships seriously needs to be updated in CAS. This was something I really had high hopes for and had hoped for along with being able to use special the eye colors and features on normal sims which I am very happy that we finally got them TvT. When it comes to Family and Relationships there needs to be more in CAS, it sucks being limited to mother, father sister and brother and household member. It would be nice to set sims as Aunties/ Uncles, Niece/Nephew, Cousin, Grandparents or even God/Step-Parent without having to created the parents, it adds more diversity when creating families and we don't have to go through so many hoops adding and deleting sims just to create the family we want. There's also an issues where you can't set a sim to have two mothers or two fathers without playing with genetics which is very annoying and I hope that one day we can just set a child to be able to have two parents of the same sex without having to play with genetic this really applies more to already existing sims too when you pull sims of the gallery. The ability to have more than 1 spouse. This was something I was really hoping for when lovestruck came out. I like playing with polygamous sims and it also sucks that when I'm creating them in CAS only one of them can be set as spouse. it would be nice to be to at least be able to set up up 2-3 spouses in CAS. It would be also nice to have Friend, Rival, or Nemesis instead of just leaving someone as a household member. It's a little weird when starting a save with sims that a just household members. With a Family and Relationships update it would allow Simmers to create more chaotic stories and playstyles Like Example: if I could start my sims off as Enemies living with it other and I having to play with them to get them grow to tolerate or even like each other. What if I could start off with a child sims and there grandparents because the parents died young... you know stuff like that. I hope the Sims Team takes this into consideration and add these thing in the future even if its little by little. Again it kind of just sucks when you are limited to 1-2 type of household, and it would just be nice to have a little more variety in the game when it comes to family and relationship. What do you guys think?MissGamer4562 days agoSeasoned Novice38Views4likes1CommentCAS items we are lacking
I already posted about adding a "morals" or beliefs category in CAS in my religion suggestion but that made me think of something else CAS is missing. We need more modest clothes in CAS. We have some but it's really hard to make a family of modestly dressed Sims without repeating outfits. Occasionally I like to make religious families, Jewish/Christian/Muslim (these are the only ones I personally know enough about to play but I'm sure there are other religions this applies to) and I tend to dress them more conservatively but there aren't many options. I'm mostly thinking of female Sims, we have a ton of low cut, crop tops and things with cut outs but that shows too much skin for modest Sims. Even some of the long sleeve shirts that are full coverage in the front are open backed. This is mainly a problem when making Muslim Sims, I play big families and it's really hard to not dress them all in the same clothes with limited options. I own almost every pack and it's still a struggle. I think it'd be nice to have some more clothes added that aren't skin tight and don't show a lot of skin, don't get me wrong I like and use a lot of the less conservative clothes but for some Sims it doesn't make sense to put them in those clothes. More options would be nice.SimmerDownRobin2 days agoNew Adventurer38Views2likes3CommentsSome Nit Picky Requests
I might have made some posts mentioning some of these before, but here is a a list of nit picky requests that technically should be very easily done by a dev (like a matter of some file tuning), even by modders (and in some cases might even be mods) but asked to be official. OR: Catch and View Insects all need to increase Entomology Skill. At this time only Catch with Net works and only available for flying insects. Herbalism should be available to use in Cauldron and [EbN]+[OR] Add Herbalism to Apothecary Table | EA Forums - 12621176 JA: Speed up Archeology Activities (even with mods this just seems slow, and without painfully slow). CCSP's Gemology Table should work with Archelogy Table for selecting Crystals to Refine. RoM: Magical Realm, replenish the Frog Water Pump for each visit (I noticed these replenish in other worlds). Copypasto more items, specifically from other packs (such as EbN Apothecary Items/Ingredients). EbN allows some Alchemy Ingredients in the Apothecary Table to be stored, CCSP has Crystals/Metals in the Gemology Table, Frogs in the Storage Chest, etc. but when you click the Cauldron it is as if it is not available (where as food ingredients such as Apples show available in the fridges for the Cauldron). Spellcaster with a point into Spellcaster Socialite will autonomously use these socials when talking to other Spellcasters. Spellcasters with the spells: Scruberoo will automatically/autonomously clean self in low hygiene, and instead of mopping/cleaning, and Delicioso when self is hungry, use Floralorial on bugs, and Repario at least toilets. ECO: RoM Items should be eco friendly and off the grid. At this time even an in use Cauldron increases industrial footprint, and often the Magical Realm goes industrial. Magic should be considered eco friendly and off grid IMHO. PSP Items (specifically lights) should be all (or at least 3/4, the sconce is a grey area) eco friendly and off the grid, they are lantern/candle (though not treated as a candle) types. EbN: Maintain Houseplant needs to Maintain All Houseplants in room/area, and stay watered longer (these die way to fast, are harder to maintain than a substantial garden, and I don't want to enchant Houseplants). [EbN] Naturopath Career Daily Task, stop dependency on Computers | EA Forums - 12581890 [LD][EbN] Please Make Mystical and Disruptive Compatible with Macabre | EA Forums - 12336117 [EbN] Sim Sleep/Toilet Preference Selection | EA Forums - 12676922 AA: Critter Hunter Aspiration should not include papercraft as Nature Aspirations should lean to outdoor activities, and not an indoor/sedentary activities like papercraft. To buy upgrade parts, among others, I still have to click on the arrow key to increase the number of items bought. In practice, when I upgrade the items in a lot, I have to click the right arrow key at least 99 times for the Common Upgrade part, and then do the same clicking for the other upgrade parts. When I play on a different household, I have to click on this pop-up again for 99+ over and over again. I'm sure it has been brought up before, that this can be easily fixed by a simple quality of life of adding an option to enter the amount bought instead of this horrible clicking. Please add an option to enter an amount. This is such a simple task that can be done and released tomorrow.N3792 days agoSeasoned Traveler23Views2likes1Comment
