Will EA listen?
This is my third and final feedback I will provide, I gave detailed feedback on 1st survey they provided and then another detailed once S1 came out. Skate has a ton of potential but, I think, with how long this has been out, the gravity of the situation is this project was given to a newer generation of developers. I would be curious how many original developers of S123 put time, effort, and feedback into this game. I'm not saying the new developers weren't able to put together a smooth functional game, they did, but it's a reskinned version of a Fort Nite model. The type of target audience that is so aggressively marketed to is wild. EA... you have the secret sauce; you literally don't have to even be creative. Watch og Skate 2 intro, there's your vibe. and Add any story, geez something I don't even care, bring Death Races, Hall of Meat, SKATE, 1UP, and every other game mode you have already created. Custom Community Parks - The arena EA isn't doing **bleep** with, how about we can explore an infinite amount of player created parks or the ones we create ourselves. If they were to listen to this truly, their player count wouldn't have fallen off the face of the earth, I played it a ton when it came out. I have barely turned it on in weeks, and when I do, it gets turned off quickly. I know it's Early Access but, if you dropped the "Full Release" and incorporated what is above, you could probably have a game you could milk for 10 years, Skate 3 was timeless and still enjoyable to this day. If EA continues the Fort Nite effect route, this game will be nothing in 10 years. You had 15M people play it? They were that excited bc S123 were so good, and now it barley sustains players, hmm, maybe we go back to what worked the last 3 times in a row. I only shared 3 reviews with EA because of my love for Skate 1, 2, and 3. They were childhood core memories, I grew up on Tony Hawk, Left X Kickflip, transitioning into the flick tech was such a cool upgrade. I really hope they listen to the deep down reviews. EA will need to drop massive update, if we expand little by little, I don't think this game will ever recover its player count. Fingers crossed and I'll write a book on how great EA is if they could actually pull something like this off.3Views0likes0CommentsError code 4269825243
Haven't played skate. for like a week and a half and all of the sudden I can't get into the game anymore. Always get error code 4269825243 saying it can't find an internet connection. Tried rebooting my PS5, tried unplugging for 60 seconds and reinstalling the game after but still get the same code. I'm on a stable 500mbps connection so I know that's not it though. Was hoping to get in some grinds tonight, hope it gets fixed soon. :/ Edit: tried installing the PS4 version where I was able to log in first try (which doesn't fix my issue but still proves the problem isn't on my end). PS4 version also runs like **bleep** btw do not recommend13Views0likes0CommentsBrands I would like in the game
Since cosmetics seems to be the focus, here are my suggestions of major and small brands I would like in the game. People feel free to give your suggestion in the comments of this post too :) Major brands: Baker Zero Deathwish Ace Anti-hero Welcome Hookups Shake Junt Independent Krooked **bleep** Awesome Smaller brands: Skull skates/B.A.K.U Heroin Skateboards JacuzziUnlimited Hammers Quasi Hockeyhenrycampolina3 hours agoRising Scout7Views0likes0CommentsI'm done with the blatant GREED, goodbye skate.
I've done **bleep** near everything in this game that can possibly be done. I have every achievement, every free cosmetic. There is literally nothing more this game can provide me, its no longer fun, if anything it gets worse with time. Its so obvious that the devs don't listen to these comments, and only care about how much monetary gain they can rake in before the player base declines, and EA pulls the funding on the project. I'll give you one example on why this is true. Clips go viral on social media of an uncanny resemblance to the dickies pants and the pink cargo pants you can obtain. The full circle team recognizes this, and pushes a fix, to look better to the public eye. Their fix: remove the pink cargo pants from the box, and keeps the generic dickies bundle. This shows they only care about their public image, and not what the community thinks. All of those clips are taken out of context, and they missed the overall point. The point was that these bundles are lacking in value. They are incredibly generic and are blatant copies of other clothing assets in game, with minor color and texture changes. Its lazy, and the whole team knows it. Yet they refuse to address it, because they have no intention of changing their ways. Instead they remove the original model from the free box, and restrict that cargo pants model behind a paywall. Today I reached my boiling point with this game. The physics after all this time should be polished and even finished. I've spent 30 minutes on a vert ramp in the community park, getting glued into an axle stall on the coping every time i pre-wind for a trick. I know for a fact its not a skill issue, because movements like this are muscle memory, and i've done it enough to know whether its a fault of my own or a glitch with the physics. Take this as a bug report, feedback, whatever you want. I know the direction this game is headed, and it's an early grave. I'm giving up, I'm not one to sit around and watch things die. I probably wont be participating in the 7-ply maple whatever the f*ck you wanna call it. I probably won't even be playing this game again for a long time. My disappointment with this game is immeasurable, If I was offered a refund for the founders pack, I'd take it in a heart beat. I don't believe any of you deserve it anymore.DrunkenPirate774 hours agoSeasoned Hotshot18Views1like1CommentFix the physics.
I would be willing to overlook the AI generated crap, the weak animation, the lack of clothing options, etc if the game actually felt anything like skateboarding. There are truly so many issues with the physics engine; perceived motion, rotations not finishing intuitively like they had in the previous games, being unable to adjust your slide/grind while on the rail/ledge in certain areas, the pop consistently not popping with the intensity you're giving it, held tricks not holding, aim-assist for rails just not doing anything in a lot of cases... It makes even the most genuine attempt at playing so difficult to get through The balance between how fast my character is actually moving vs the perception of motion is awful, I have so much trouble gauging when to pop appropriately for the tricks I'm being forced to attempt in some of these challenges. Two pushes isn't enough by a long shot, and three pushes doesn't look any faster but makes me completely overshoot the obstacle. Running and throwing down makes me move visibly faster than pushes ever will, but then the pop mechanics at that speed don't make any sense. The gravity is weird, the friction of the wheels on concrete doesn't seem to apply, I shouldn't be able to casually roll up a ramp the size of a 20 stair on two lackluster pushes. There is entirely too much margin for error allotted for landing while spinning, but not enough given for landing unrealistically high drops. I can't properly balance how fast it APPEARS im going with how fast the game has decided i'm actually going and that makes doing tricks feel boring. I understand you have to scale things up and down in order for them to feel good when done in video game format, but the excitement of doing a kickflip back smith on a 20 stair handrail is lost when you have to approach it at half-of-one-pushes-worth of speed because otherwise you entirely overshoot the rail or don't land on it til the bottom of the stairs. Overall the pop mechanic feels awful and inconsistent. Being set up in a stupid spot that doesn't actually line you up for the challenge at hand is nothing new to the SKATE franchise, but the fact that the pop mechanic is so finicky and makes no intuitive sense makes it nearly impossible to deal with the poor placement because I can't even force the game to assist me into landing in the right spot. The aim assist situation for the rails is terrible, I've NEVER had so much trouble landing on a rail in a skateboarding game in my life. The controls also are weird as hell. Don't ask me if I'm familiar with the skate franchise, give me an option for "OG" controls and then NOT HAVE THEM SET UP LIKE THE ORIGINAL SKATE 3 CONTROLS. The amount of back and forth I've had to do to get the controls to sit correctly on my controller [XB on PC] is ridiculous. I have spent a lot of time defending the fact that the game is still in early access and not finished, but the core of the game needs to be the physics engine and it's severely lacking in that department. Above all else it should FEEL good to play. It should feel ALMOST like skateboarding. Session and Skater XL went for the full simulation route and it's TOO real. SKATE was born to bring skateboarders a balance between really skateboarding and arcade style games like the Tony Hawk franchise. The halfway point between a simulator and a kiosk. This installment has crossed back over the line into arcade-style territory entirely too much, and without reigning it back in for the actual skateboarders who grew with this franchise, I believe you will continue to have a disproportionate amount of disappointed fans and users with the current product.13Views1like1CommentPitch for Clothing Variation
I know New Skate is still early access, and updates, game modes, and content will roll in over time, but I think one of the most important features to focus on is clothing variation. A huge part of skate culture is personal style, and the game would benefit a lot from giving players more control over how they wear each item. For example, the black cap in the Season Pass is cool, but it would be even better if we could choose how to wear it, forward, backward, left tilt, right tilt, etc. Make the cap its own item, and let the variation tab (X or Square) change the style. This same idea could apply across most clothing pieces: Beanies: multiple wear styles Socks: high, mid, low, scrunch Denim: baggy, straight, slim, rolled T-shirts: tight, loose, cropped Layers: long sleeves or sweaters worn under tees, with selectable variations Shoes don’t need variations, but almost everything else could. This would add depth to customization without needing a ton of new assets, just more ways to wear what’s already there. Players spend a lot of time building their look. Style is literally part of skateboarding, and the way your skater looks affects the way the game feels. Giving us real variation options would keep players invested, increase cosmetic engagement, and make character building way more fun.6Views0likes0CommentsQuality of Life Idea, Map Filter
I feel as though there should be a filter system for the map to hide challenges you have completed - Be able to hide ones you fully completed - Be able to show ones you have or haven't completed in co-op - Hide normal challenges, show seasonal ones and vice versa Would be nicer to clear up the clutter when looking at the map, especially to find challenges that you haven't yet done. Side note, someone else named Semi-pacifist had already come up with this idea, and I do feel as though it's needed. Wanted to link as they originally posted before me.4Views2likes0CommentsOption to play offline
Can we please have an option to play offline? All of the moving pieces and characters makes the game lag and makes it impossible to enjoy the game. I personally don’t like playing online games and prefer to just enjoy them by myself and I hate that I’m stuck skating around with randoms. Not only that, it slows everything down and makes challenges impossible. The glitches and lags make me not want to play because it disrupts the gameplay. This doesn’t need to be an online game, give me the option to turn that off.5Views0likes0CommentsWhat’s happening with the physics!!?
I play the game since early access and the game was almost perfect at first but every update seems to break the physics a little more. It’s the first game I see that gets worse and worse updating. A lot of challenges are not doable anymore and a lot more will be if it continue.14Views2likes0Comments7 PLY MAPLE HARVEST TRASH
Another terrible AI slopped out park. More generic trash items. Thanks for killing a franchise in one season. Where is Hall of Meat? Where is S.K.A.T.E.? Where are the competitions? Where are the Pro Skaters? Where are the death races? Where is the skate culture? Where is the story mode? Why do the characters look like they are from The Sims/Fortnite? Why is the language censored?TRUEBE4TZ10 hours agoSeasoned Hotshot54Views3likes2Comments- 3Views0likes0Comments
Dying game
I jumped into Skate 4 hoping for a skateboarding game. What I got instead feels like a fashion catalog with a skateboard cameo. The gameplay is fine, but the whole experience is so bland it is almost impressive, like the developers deliberately removed anything that resembles personality. But the real star of the show is the wardrobe. Every clothing option looks like it was designed by a committee whose only reference for skate culture was a Pride parade and a Pinterest board. It is almost funny how hard the game pushes “Look how inclusive we are!!” every time you try to customize your skater. Subtlety is completely gone. If the developers focused half as much on depth, mechanics, and actual skate culture as they did on adding dozens of rainbow themed crop tops, the game might have been something special. Instead, it feels less like Skate and more like a corporate diversity training session with ollies. Maybe next time, dial back the forced messaging and put that energy into the gameplay.26Views5likes0CommentsGet Rid of Scroll Bar for Tasks
This is extremely low priority when there are countless other problems like broken co-op, broken progression, an absolutely abysmal in-game rewards economy and an egregious cash shop in an early access game. But this should also be an extremely easy fix. So why does it exist? The bottom 2 tasks are already partially visible, so just move some things around, resize them and let us see all 6 at once. It can stay for the seasonal set, since there's actually kind of a reason for it, but when we also had 3 sets of Skate-o-ween tasks in addition to the daily and weekly tasks, there were 5/6 task sets with a scroll bar, hiding information that should be easily viewable. The tasks page also has a weird problem with excessive padding and a LOT more unused space than any other menu page. So to fix these problems, I made a couple very professional edits to a screenshot I took of the weekly tasks from a few weeks ago. The first edited screenshot shows the massive waste of screen real estate in red, with cyan boxes around the problem areas, and arrows indicating the direction they could move. The second edited screenshot has those same areas outlined in magenta, showing their new, happy homes, with arrows indicating where elements could be stretched or compressed to fit the space better and therefore provide more information without a cumbersome scroll bar. In this edited screenshot, I even kept the crazy large border and internal padding, so things don't feel too cramped. Also included are the unedited screenshot I used as a basis, and the final, very good version that I'm proposing, without the outlines and comments obscuring the layout. One final thing relating to the justifiable scroll bar on the seasonal task list: can we at least get an option to pin tasks? Either to the in-game HUD or to the top of the task list. Both options that I've seen in other games. It would at least partially mitigate the annoyance of having to constantly scroll to check progress.chocolatekake15 hours agoSeasoned Novice27Views2likes0CommentsFUTURE MAJOR & MINOR UPDATES/CONTENT
What’s up everyone, I’m an advocate player of the skate series as most of us are. And as most of us we can agree that we’ve been waiting for a skate game like this! But I think There’s so much untapped potential in this game that EA isn’t giving us which makes this beloved franchise look like a money grab. It’s sad to think that about a game I’m so attached to from childhood but it’s realistic. MAJOR ADDED CONTENT: -SKATE COMMUNITY XGAMES/EVENTS I think it would be a fantastic idea not only for the game but for skate culture itself, to hold “SKATE GAMES” or 20 skater event that gives decent well deserved rewards & well as gives decent xp, this can tie into utilizing sum of the cool skate park already made on the map. -PLAYER CUSTOME SKATE PARK COMPETITION bringing the whole new editing style we have in skate has made building sum of the most insane spots possible. I think we should pay tribute to players & offer them a chance to have their skate park added to either a roof of a big building or adding a section to the game for “created player parks”. these are honestly just some ideas that I have but I think would really boost the player time in the game as well as boost content longevity :) LMK WHAT YOU THINKL1PD0KU24 hours agoSeasoned Newcomer30Views1like1Comment
