EgoNet Revival – authorization for discontinued online achievements
Hello, EA Support advised me to create this forum post to seek guidance regarding a community project I am developing called EgoNet Revival: https://github.com/Berleis/egonet-revival The project is free and not-for-profit. Its primary goal is to restore discontinued online functionality in older Codemasters games, particularly features required to earn achievements that became unobtainable after services such as RaceNet/EgoNet were shut down. The games currently within the project’s scope include: F1 2018 DiRT 4 GRID 2 DiRT Showdown The project does not distribute the games, DLC, original game executables, or any other proprietary EA/Codemasters files. Users must own a legitimate copy of the game. The goal is not to permanently replace EA’s official services. The intention is simply to restore the minimum functionality necessary for features and achievements that depend on discontinued servers to work again. In fact, if EA/Codemasters could remove or modify these achievements on Steam, or make them officially obtainable again, that would address the main reason this project exists. In that case, I would be willing to discontinue the corresponding features of EgoNet Revival. I would like to know whether it would be possible to obtain formal authorization from EA/Codemasters to continue developing the project. I would also appreciate guidance on the following questions: Could EA/Codemasters authorize a non-commercial community project of this kind? Is it permissible to create an independent server implementation compatible with legacy RaceNet/EgoNet functionality? Is it permissible to analyze requests, responses, and payload structures generated by the games themselves for interoperability and preservation purposes? Is it permissible to publish the resulting source code and documentation as open source? Is it permissible to distribute a launcher or patch that simply redirects requests to the community server, without distributing proprietary files? Could EA, as an alternative, remove or modify the Steam achievements that became unobtainable due to these service shutdowns? Is there any historical documentation relating to RaceNet/EgoNet, community events, leaderboards, or APIs that could be made available for preservation purposes? Is there a specific team, department, or contact at EA/Codemasters responsible for handling this type of request? The project is not intended to facilitate piracy, bypass purchase requirements, compete with EA’s current services, or commercially exploit intellectual property belonging to EA/Codemasters. I am fully open to modifying the project’s implementation, name, branding, distribution, or scope to comply with any specific conditions EA/Codemasters may establish. If a Community Manager or EA employee sees this post, I would greatly appreciate it if you could forward this request to the appropriate team within Codemasters, Legal, IP, Licensing, or Rights & Permissions. The Witcher 3 Free Update
I bought The Witcher 3 back in 2015 when EA app was still Origin. Now CDPR is releasing a free update of the game which will include all DLC's and the remastered version. I saw no information regarding users that bought the game in Origin/EA app. Will I be able to get the free update or not?
Can I buy a code for a delisted game and play it on the EA App?
I wanted to buy a code for F1 22 to boost trophies on my PS5. unfortunately, the steam keys are over $100, but codes for the EA App are far cheaper. However, I'm unsure if it's' even possible to play the game because I'm not familiar with how the app really works. If anyone can help/clarify this i would be greatly appreciative. thanks!
EA Website and App
The EA website and app are horrendous to navigate. It looks like it was made to be pretty rather than functional. I will solely use Steam and continue to use Steam over any platform until platforms like EA raise their standards to par. Even if I were potentially interested in any EA exclusive content, I wouldn't bother spending my dosh here and would forego playing EA exclusive games all together.
Cannot download CFB/Madden 27 Trial with EA Play
When I press download, this pops up. For some reason, after I click "close" it still allows me to go to the next prompt and choose download options. I just click next. Its stuck on installing with no percentage. After some time after the installing, this pops up. Could somebody help me with this issue and how to resolve it?
