Inaccurate follower count on the Gallery
Hey all! Don't know if I'm the only one experiencing this issue, but my follower count seems to be off. I'm getting new followers, but the number stagnates. According to that same number, I would have lost many followers in a short period of time. Anyone have the same problem?
the sims 4 is missing from EA app on Mac.
hi, im trying to download the sims 4 for free, but it doesn't appear in the EA App Store or my library. Only the sims 3 appears. my account is registered in Qatar, I've already tried clearing the cache, restarting the app, and signing in again, but nothing worked. could someone from EA please help me access the sims 4?Stuck Loading Screen
I've been getting the infinite loading screen whenever I load into or out of any household CAS. I've tried a complete EA and Sims 4 wipe + reinstall, and ran the base vanilla game with no mods, but I still get the same issue. I've tried running the game offline, moving my documents folder onto local instead of iCloud, enabled vertical sync, ran the game in windowed, all didn't work. I do not get any lastexception files when the issue happens Specs: Apple M4 16 GB Golden Gate 27.2 (issue still happened on the 2 previous Mac OS updates)
no mods for me?
hello, first of want to say thank you to anyone who reaches out because I am genuinely saddened and stressed at this point. I have had mods for atleast 4 years and I've always used the same mods. I use more cc than anything (clothes, hair, tattoos). I have some script mods MC and xml but I always regularly update and never have any issues. Recently Ive been trying to open my game and its been giving the message "not responding' so I don't think that's crashing but it is definitely not opening. I have tried to open without. It works fine. I open with some mods, works fine. I open with entire amount or at least I try to get to the amount I used to have and in between my tests to make sure they are still working turn outs, they are not. Ive tried this in many orders which led me to try all of the same mods over and over with my game. In the end same result. I have my mods on my external hard drive they have always been so I can have 2TBs of space. My game is also on there to spare my little MacBook Air. My game is up to date and repaired. And I use Gametime dev for my mod management, I have deleted all my mods and cleaned my game files out for a fresh start. I just want a couple of mods nothing to crazy but it sort of seems impossible at this point. Is it just not for me? Should I give up and play base game or quit sims 4 all together? Please help. Access to my computer?
This is new. When I start the Sims 4, I receive this message: This grants the 'EA app' access to your data, files, and settings on this Mac, as well as permission to modify them. This worries me. Why on earth should I give EA access to my data, files and settings on my Mac and permission tot modify them? I clicked on 'Do not allow' so no the game doesn't start - it gives an error message. If this continues I'll stop playing the Sims completely despite all the money I have spent on it. I'm not giving EA full access to my computer.
Gallery wont work
I logged onto my sims today after about 2 months on my MacBook, and my gallery will not load. It keeps telling me to connect but wont. Ive done everything ive seen online, including but not limited to checking EA to make sure im online, clearing my tray, taking my mods out to make sure its not a mod issue, repairing my packs, making sure my game is up to date, I even went as far as uninstalling and re installing the game. Im really unsure what to do at this point, I dont see why my wifi would be blocking this as its not a school wifi and the school wifi issue is the only thing ive seen about this online. Please let me know if anyone has had this issue and has been able to figure it out, I would really appreciate it, the gallery is such a fun part of the game.
🛠️ Creating a symlink in macOS to store the Sims 4 folder on an external drive
➡️ This is not to be confused with installing the actual Sims 4 game on an external drive. The game installation location is determined in EA App and there is no need to use a symlink for this. As internal storage gets smaller we're forced to use cloud based solutions to store files and folders or resort to a trusty external drive. Cloud based only storage is not an option for the Sims 4 folder that contains all your saves, Mods, Library items and other user data because the game only looks in one place for your data: Macintosh HD > Users > [your user account] > Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 If there is no Sims 4 folder in that location the game will create a new one. There is no way around this default Sims 4 folder location unfortunately, it is hard coded into the game. Because of this the only option to store the Sims 4 folder on an external drive is to create a symbolic link, otherwise known as a symlink. Creating the symlink is relatively easy provided you understand the concept of what a symlink is and why you are creating it. You should also be familiar with Terminal on your Mac and the security and permission systems in place in whichever version of macOS you are running as these dictate the ability for the game to access the external drive and whether your Mac user account has permission to grant the necessary access. You should also make sure you are using a good quality, fast external drive. You get what you pay for and if you bought a cheap drive, with low quality cables, you will most likely struggle to get the symlink to work because it will be too slow. For help buying an external drive and what to look out for read this guide. I am not going to write step by step instructions here, the post will be far too long. It really is that simple. macOS is a Unix based operating system and as such uses Unix commands which are all provided in the above linked guide. This thread is for consolidating all posts related to the Mac symlink process here at Answers HQ. What I have provided below are a few of the common issues people face as a result of not entering the commands correctly or having the correct permissions in place. Common issues reported and the solution: Always check your external drive has the correct name in Disk Utility: open Disk Utility (Applications > Utilities) change View to Show All Devices then click on the drive in the left sidebar the Mount Point shows the name of your drive. If there is a number added to the drive name it means the drive has not been properly ejected multiple times Close Disk Utility and eject the drive In Finder click on Go in the menu bar then Go To Folder. Enter /Volumes in the input field and hit return in the /Volumes location, trash the folder(s) that has the same name as the external drive Close Finder, plug the drive back in, open Disk Utility again to check the drive name in the Mount Point. If it matches try to create the symlink In addition to checking the external drive mount point above, the following may also be helpful: Terminal states my access/permission is denied check your Mac user account is an Administrator account and not a Standard account. check that Terminal has access to external drives, also known as Removable Volumes, and your Documents folder. I'm constantly getting "Unable to start... Cannot start because the below file appears to be corrupted" error message make sure the external drive is correctly formatted as either APFS or Mac OS Extended (Journaled). If it isn't, reverse the symlink, reformat the drive in Disk Utility and start again. check your Mods actually aren't corrupted by downloading a compatible version from the creator. I keep getting the error message "Unable to start... The Sims 4 is already running" make sure the external drive is correctly plugged in and mounted. check EA App has access to the external drive in System Settings > Privacy & Security. Give it Full Disk Access if necessary. disable iCloud Drive if the symlink folder in Documents is a white page instead of a folder with the little arrow the symlink has broken. Trash it and attempt to recreate the symlink. Check the Mount Point in Disk Utility shows your exact external drive name and doesn’t have a number added to the drive name. If it does this means your drive has not been properly ejected multiple times. To fix it: eject the drive in Finder click on Go in the menu bar then Go To Folder enter /Volumes in the text field and hit Enter/Return in the Finder window that appears you should see a folder, not a drive icon, with the same name as your external drive. Trash it. plug the drive back in, check the mount point in Disk Utility is the exact drive name with no appended numbers, then try to create the symlink again. if the mount point is still showing a number you have problems with your drive. Consider reformatting it, trying different connector cables, or getting a better drive. Terminal tells me No such file or directory did you copy and paste the command from the guide and correctly substitute the name of your external drive? If you didn't copy and paste you may have used the wrong letters in the command. Copy and paste from the guide. Does the folder you are trying to move or create a symlink to exist in the location you are stipulating in the command? Terminal tells me Directory not empty in Step 1 Is there already a folder on the external with the same name as the folder you're moving? i.e. have you already copied over the Electronic Arts folder? If there is already a folder with the same name as the folder you're moving, Terminal will return this result. Terminal tells me File already exists in Step 2 of the guide Did you correctly complete step 1 or is there still an Electronic Arts or Sims 4 folder in your Documents folder? If the folder is still there you have not correctly moved it in Step 1. If you have iCloud Drive enabled to store your Documents folder in the cloud and Optimise Storage enabled, it will cause issues with the symlink. I strongly advise to disable this iCloud feature otherwise you will have issues, especially if you use Mods. As a reminder, creating this symlink is aimed at people storing their Electronic Arts/Sims 4 folder locally. Using iCloud Drive stores your folder in the cloud and locally. Most worlds run smoothly, and I usually only get the normal throttling lag due to MacBook Airs not having fans. However, the issue clears itself up and my gameplay is okay. However, Ondarion is pretty much a no. I can't play any lot without my fps dropping as low as into the 20s. Is anyone else having this issue? It's such a beautiful world, which is why this is disappointing. Or is this just because of my specs? Game is fully updated to the newest patch, and the issue occurs with and without CC.URGENT: Repeated loss of save files (26+ hours of gameplay) - The Sims 4 [Mac]
I have invested over 26 hours and 50 minutes into my current save. However, my game progress has been completely wiped out TWICE. All the houses I painstakingly built and the achievements I unlocked are gone. I have tried the following troubleshooting steps on my own: Checked the local saves folder in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > saves. Attempted to manually rename the backup files (e.g., .save.ver0, .save.day.ver0) to restore previous versions. Tried using the in-game "Recover Save" feature from the main menu. Unfortunately, none of these methods worked. The game simply does not recognize the backups, and my progress remains lost. Losing two massive builds and 26+ hours of effort due to what seems to be a saving/syncing bug is incredibly disheartening. I would like to formally report this issue and ask if there is any way you can check your server-side backups or provide a solution to recover my data.Game crashing or not loading especially after updating? If your game is crashing or not launching after recently updating it please try the two most basic and fundamental steps to resolve it before posting: Repair the game in EA App Test a new clean game. Don't just cherry pick a few files and folders you think you should remove, such as just the Mods folder, or a few random Mods, or any old cache file, or a couple of screenshots, test a completely new, clean, vanilla game. Only you can do that and it can take some time. if the cause is Mods head over to the Mods forum for further help - The Sims 4 Mods & Custom Content | EA Forums if the cause is one or more particular save files, upload them to a file sharing site and post the link here (tag me) or PM me and I can test in my game If your game will not load after repairing it AND testing a completely clean Sims 4 folder please uninstall and reinstall the game through EA App then test, still using the clean Sims 4 folder the game created from the previous step. If you're still having an issue post here with the specs of your Mac. You can find these in Apple > About This Mac: model, e.g. M4 MacBook Pro year, e.g. 2024 macOS version, e.g. Sequoia 15.3.2 (yes, the FULL version is important, with all numbers) memory, e.g. 64GB storage available, e.g. 1.5 TB of 2TB. This info can be found in System Settings > General > About or More Info... in the About This Mac window. Please also post a screenshot showing the contents of the new Sims 4 folder in Finder: make sure the files are in list order in Finder with Dates and Size clearly visible. make sure all files and folders in the TS4 folder are showing, don't cut off the screenshot have the path bar clearly showing in the screenshot: with the Finder window open and selected click on View > Show Path Bar in the menu bar at the top of your desktop. There always seems to be some confusion over how to open the cheat console on a Mac because Mac users normally substitute the CMD key for the CTRL key in everyday Mac usage (CMD + C, CMD + V for copying and pasting for example). In Sims 4 however this is not the case. To open the cheat console when playing the game in macOS you use CTRL, Shift and C. It has always been this combination in Sims 4, never the CMD key. There are a few, limited exceptions to this which are dependant on Mac configuration and NOT the game controls: if the modifier keys have been changed from the default setting in System Preferences/Settings > Keyboard. Hello! Longtime Sims player here! I have thankfully never had major technical challenges while playing for the last 20 (?) years. I recently downloaded Crystal Creations and the Fairy pack and my whole gameplay isn't working correctly. There are so many different issues it is hard to write them all but they include: sims getting actions stuck in their cue cursor not responding to being clicked correctly sims not moving from their spot but the action cue updating and reflecting different actions (for example when a welcome party arrived they all stayed in one area but the cues and prompts reflected them having eating dinner and using bathroom) sims getting cold indoors (that hadn't previously happened for me) including the baby that will get dressed into pajamas to sleep and then have the freezing warning needs changing at weird rates and not replenishing at normal rates time not jumping forward when all sims are asleep time jumping forward glitching sims appearing as if they are on the lot actions with sims appearing in cue that are not on the lot jewelry not looking removed from the sim notification that baby has come home from daycare (they didn't go) I am sure I am missing a lot! I use an embarrassingly old laptop but this hadn't been an issue previously. It runs Mac OS Catalina vs 10.15.8 it's a macbook pro from 2013. I made sure I had enough space on the computer before downloading the packs. I don't use any mods as I have always been afraid of affecting gameplay! Any help or advice would be amazing! I want my sims back!
M5 macOS Tahoe game lag
Hi, I'm hoping someone can help because I've exhausted all of the normal troubleshooting steps. System Information macbook pro m5 macOS tahoe 26.3 EA App Version 13.754.0.6267 The Sims 4 Version (latest update) Problem When I click Play in the EA App: The EA App minimizes The Sims 4 icon briefly appears in the dock The game never reaches the loading screen or main menu After a few seconds the dock icon disappears No error message is displayed The game launnched successfully once on this same Mac about 2 or 3 weeks ago (I went as far as CAS), but didn't play and since then it has never been able to launch again. Troubleshooting already completed Removed all Mods and Custom Content Confirmed the game is launching with Modded: False Deleted localthumcache.package Repaired the game Completely uninstalled and reinstalled The Sims 4 Completely uninstalled and reinstalled the EA app Renamed the Sims 4 Documents folder so the game created a completely new one Launched with a completely fresh Sims 4 folder Verified documents permissions Restarted the Mac multiple times Tried launchng the game directly from the application instead of using the EA app Booted into Safe Mode and tested there Uninstalled curseforge Confirmed the game is installed on the internal SSD No mods or CC are present anywhere Minecraft and other applications work normally. Crash information The sims crash report consistently shows the game failing during intialization before reaching the main menu Relevant information LoadingScreenActiveFlag: 1 Modded: False Architecture: arm64 Apple Silicon (M5) macOS Metal The stack references Metal/AGXMetal during startup Additional information No apple crash report (.ips/.crash) is generated in DiagnosticReports The game process appears to terminate before it fully starts. Has anyone else experienced this on an M5 Macbook Pro running macOS Tahoe 26.3? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Incredibly laggy and choppy gameplay after 8/6/26 Update
I play on an M1 MacBook Air and it's been working like a dream for years, but after the most recent update/fix on August 6th, 2026 my game is laggy to the point where it's unplayable. Textures take forever to load, huge response delays when clicking through any of the ui and significant fps drops. I've tried repairing the game, I started new saves, a new Sims 4 documents folder, nothing has worked, I just get the same laggy gameplay.
