Sims 4 packs are not showing up as installed after moving the app location
It was originally in this location: And I dragged the folder to this application section because I read someone else do it to make for easier access: I tried the fixes of trying to download the packs through the EA app, but it shows as already installed. I also tried to activate through the marketplace but it shows up as “not installed.” This has been quite frustrating because I use items from each expansion pack and the game isn’t reading anything that I own :( is there any fixes for this issue to get the game to read my packs? Do I move it back to the original location? will such troubleshooting steps affect my batch of mods currently installed? I apologize for the many questions this is the first time this has happened to me and while my game is still running well and smooth, the packs that are not reading which results in a great chunk of missing content. Thank you and looking forward to your help :)7Views0likes0CommentsSims 4 keeps saying file is corrupt
I am unable to load my game after the last update as it keeps popping up with the attached message. I cannot use any of my mods even though they have been updated and I am very confused as to what is happening. I have removed all my mod folders, reset my laptop, reinstalled the sims 4, repaired the game countless times but it still will not work. Can someone please help meGame crashing after recent update
My game has not stopped crashing since the most recent update, it is completely unplayable. I saw some people in the PC forum complaining about the same thing. I've done every trick and tip (and yes, I do have CC and mods installed- only one script mod, but a lot of CC and I've done all the troubleshooting there), but the problem persists. What should I do next?tipi13554 days agoNew Rookie26Views0likes0CommentsGame Is Crashing, MODs Removed
My game is crashing, it was acting up a day before the update. I repaired it, and it was still crashing. I removed all my mods, repaired it, and it still has been crashing. EVERYTIME there’s a new update it makes the game worse. Babies are STILL just draining their needs while laying in the crib. And when I go to manage worlds the menu just stays in the loading screen. The cheat console cannot be opened using Control + Shift + C on macOS. The game does not react at all when the shortcut is pressed. This issue appeared after a recent Sims 4 update and has persisted since then. System Information Platform: macOS Mac Model: MacBook Pro (Apple M1) Operating System: macOS Tahoe 26.6 Game Version: 1.126.58.1230 Launcher: EA App Keyboard: Built-in Apple French AZERTY keyboard Expected Result Pressing Control + Shift + C should open the cheat console. Actual Result Nothing happens. There is: no cheat console, no UI animation, no screen flash, no game freeze, no sound, no indication that the shortcut has been detected. The game behaves as if the shortcut was never pressed. I have already ruled out the common causes: Completely reinstalled The Sims 4. Deleted the entire Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4 folder before reinstalling so the game recreated fresh user data. No mods or custom content installed. No third-party keyboard remapping software. No external keyboard. Fullscreen mode. French AZERTY built-in Apple keyboard. Control key works correctly inside the game (for example, Ctrl + drag duplicates objects in Build Mode). Shift key works correctly. Individual keys are detected normally. The issue only affects the Control + Shift + C shortcut.itsEylis12 days agoNew Novice27Views0likes0CommentsCan't save game/taking forever to save
Ever since the July 21st update, when I go to save my game, I get stuck on the loading screen and have to restart the game, losing everything I just did. On the rare occasion my game does save, it takes over an hour, and that's after only a couple minutes of playing the game. It could just be the laptop I have not being powerful enough for all my cc, but I didn't have trouble with it before this lastest update. I turned off the new auto save option thinking that was the issue, but I still got stuck on the loading screen. I've honestly been too upset to even play my game since the update. I'm really hoping this problem can be fixed, otherwise my game is practically unplayable.cheese_froggie19 days agoRising Novice17Views1like0CommentsMac: Save loads normally but Save & Save As always fail (Error 21)
Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone can help because I've spent the last couple of days troubleshooting this very thoroughly, with the help of ChatGPT, and I've reached the point where I think this needs someone with Sims-specific save expertise. I think this may be an unusual save corruption issue rather than a standard Error 21. I'm on macOS. The problem My main save (around 29 MB) loads perfectly and appears completely normal. I can: Play normally for as long as I want Switch between multiple households Travel between worlds Enter Build/Buy Enter CAS Interact with Sims normally Everything appears to function correctly The only thing that doesn't work is saving. Both Save and Save As immediately produce: Error Code 21 The game failed to save. Error Code: 21 The save has several years of gameplay (it's my primary save and contains almost all of my Sims history), so I'm trying everything possible before giving up on it. How this started My game had been working normally until a series of events happened around the same time. I had recently moved my Mac's data into iCloud as part of setting up my computer again. I then attempted to place a household from the Gallery. After placing it, I discovered that it required the Lovestruckexpansion pack, which I do not own. Shortly afterwards I began experiencing Error 801, along with obvious world corruption, including: missing lots floating apartment objects missing buildings broken world terrain At that point the save was clearly unusable. To recover, I restored my Sims 4 folder from a backup that I had stored on an external hard drive and copied my recovered saves into that installation. After doing that, the world corruption disappeared. The game now loads normally and appears completely healthy. However, ever since recovering the save, it has consistently produced Error 21 every time I attempt to save. What I've tested I've spent quite a bit of time trying to isolate the cause. I've confirmed the following: No mods or custom content installed. Brand new games save normally. The game itself appears to be functioning correctly. The problem only affects this save. Multiple households inside this save all fail to save. Build/Buy works. Create-a-Sim works. Travelling between worlds works. I restored older backup versions of the save (ver0/ver1/ver2), but they all produce the same Error 21. The biggest clue I've found The most interesting thing I've noticed is what happens when I choose Save As. The game immediately throws Error 21. It never creates a new save slot. No new Slot_0000000X.save file appears in the Saves folder. The timestamp on my existing save also never changes. There are no new LastException files created when the error occurs. Because nothing is ever written to disk, it almost seems as though the game is failing before it even begins the save process, rather than failing while writing the save. Things that do NOT appear to be the cause: As part of troubleshooting, I've ruled out quite a few common causes: Mods/CC Game installation General save permissions (new saves work normally) A single household (multiple households fail) The save simply being unreadable (it loads and plays perfectly) My question is has anyone seen Error 21 where: the save loads perfectly, the world appears completely normal, gameplay works indefinitely, but both Save and Save As fail immediately, and Save As never even creates a new save file? I'm particularly interested in whether anyone has seen this after recovering from Error 801 or after placing a Gallery household that required a pack that wasn't installed. I'm also happy to upload a copy of the save if anyone is willing to inspect it. Thank you! FYI, I have backups of the save, so I'm comfortable sharing a copy of it privately if that helps diagnose the problem.25Views0likes0CommentsMac] Frequent Crashes After Installing Enchanted by Nature - No Mods
Frequent Crashes After Installing Enchanted by Nature (No Mods) – Multiple Households/Worlds + CAS Crashes Platform: Mac Game Version: 1.124.63.1220 System: MacBook Pro (Apple M5) 16 GB Unified Memory macOS 26.5.1 No mods or custom content installed. Recently installed: Enchanted by Nature Expansion Pack Dream Home Decorator Game Pack Issue: After installing Enchanted by Nature and Dream Home Decorator, my game began crashing frequently. The crashes occur across multiple households and worlds and are not limited to a single save file. The game closes directly to desktop with no error message. Affected households/worlds: Horse Ranch household/world (owned long before installing the new packs) Enchanted by Nature world Multiple households within the same save Troubleshooting performed: Repaired game through EA App. Deleted localthumbcache.package. No mods or CC installed. Renamed the Sims 4 folder and allowed the game to generate a completely fresh user folder. Tested with a brand-new save. Results: A completely fresh Sims 4 folder significantly improved stability. I was able to play for several hours without crashing. After copying only my saves folder into the new Sims 4 folder, gameplay remained stable for several hours. Crashes eventually returned. Additional information: Crashes were occurring before I edited any Fairy Sims. During some crashes, I had testingcheats true and cas.fulleditmode enabled, although I was not actively using them at the time. More recently, crashes have occurred while editing Fairy NPCs in CAS. The CAS crashes occurred while changing appearance, clothing, and romantic/sexual preferences. The crash happened before I could click the checkmark to confirm changes. The same crash has occurred with multiple Fairy NPCs. Crash information: categoryid: 0x13c0e8c Multiple crash logs show the same category ID. Modded: False Num Save Errors: 0 Num Load Errors: 0 Crash timing: Several crashes occurred after approximately 3–4 minutes of gameplay. Other sessions lasted several hours before crashing. At this point I am unsure whether the issue is related to Enchanted by Nature generally, Fairy Sims specifically, CAS interactions, or another interaction introduced by the recent expansion/update. I am posting in case others are seeing similar crashes and to provide information for investigation.35Views0likes0CommentsGlitchy The Sims 4 Basic version on Mac
I used to play the Sims 2 and wanted to try the Sims 4 so I installed the basic version. I was thinking of buying extensions if I would like to play but... It crashed two times and I have lost a two days of progress. When it happened the first time, I was surprised because The Sims 2 has never been crashed. I noticed the issue is happening when my sim is going to another lot twice. Btw, I hadn't played for two weeks and when I tried to open the Sims 4, it didn't open, and there was no error at all. I noticed that The EA app also didn't work like it used to and this was the issue. When I reinstalled The EA app, it forced me to update the game and only after that I was able to finally play. Additionally, I want to mention that it's inappropriate to force me to update the app. Why I cannot just play and update it when I ready. It's annoying. Looks like the Sims 4 is not worth buying... nickname: i54ak55xyd3t. Recently bought a M4 Mac mini and moved my Sims4 saves from the previous windows 11 install that I had been playing for many years. Every thing was fine and saving game progress was fine. I decided to do a system update in Sequoia the update finished but it was not actually an update to sequoia it was actually an upgrade to Tahoe 26.2 everything seemed fine until my wife launched the game the next day and had no option to load games so her saved games appear to be gone from the documents folder. I was told that the saves may have been moved to the iCloud Drive I checked and nothing appears to be there. I did nothing but choose update when I did this I did not select any options I was actually not given any to select anyway. Also, my desktop which had been completely empty now was covered in files but they were years old and from a Mac that I had not used for years and it was in my office at the school I used to work.jrummage17 months agoNew Scout187Views0likes0CommentsGame Crashing
I'm not sure I'm in the right place, but I was wondering if anyone is still having to issue of their game crashing when either randomly when they are playing or when they are saving. I haven't played since August when I did the update that made this a issue. I have continued updating my game, I just don't want to lose any of my gameplay. Again I don't know if I'm in the right place, I just haven't heard anything about this glitch in a while and haven seen any updates on it. I was wondering if it's been fixed and isn't a major problem anymore and was safe to play the game without having major anxiety about losing my progress.GVD159 months agoSeasoned Rookie68Views0likes0Comments- 78Views0likes0Comments
[INSTRUCTIONS] How to troubleshoot and test a broken game
If your game is displaying any of the following behaviours please read on for basic troubleshooting steps: bouncing in the Dock then disappearing EA App minimising after pressing play then reappearing and the game not loading black screen crashing freezing eternally loading freezing sims but time progressing any unusual and unexpected behaviour Repair the game: Make sure the game is not running. Open EA App, click on Library in EA App, then click on the 3 dots in the top right corner of the game and select Repair. Once it has finished repairing attempt to launch the game. If it still doesn't work your next step is to try a clean Sims 4 folder. Testing a clean game: You need to test a fully clean game without any of your current user data. User data are all the files and folders in the Sims 4 folder located in Documents > Electronic Arts. The files and settings stored in this folder make your game unique to you but they can also be the cause of a game not working, typically due to out of date or conflicting Mods, corrupted saves, or other potentially broken files. This screenshot shows the contents of the Sims 4 folder with the most important data highlighted in red: Make sure the game is not running then rename the Sims 4 folder. This can be renamed to anything, just add OLD to the folder name for example. Renaming the folder forces the game to create a new one when you next launch it. None of your user data will be in the new Sims 4 folder the game creates but is still safe in the Sims 4 folder you renamed. Launch the game. If it successfully launches to the main menu start a new save, create a household and place them in-game. If your game has normally been breaking in build or live mode at this point, play for a bit in this new save, trying to reproduce the scenario that your game broke previously. If it starts breaking again create a new thread in the Mac Sims 4 Tech forum or post in an existing thread if you have been directed here for troubleshooting. Make sure you include a clear explanation of when your game breaks, what happens, and what troubleshooting steps you have tried. Screenshots of error codes and copy/pasted text from the most recent lastCrash and LastException files are also very helpful. If your game works in the new save it's time to test the user data in your old Sims 4 folder. We do this in several steps in a precise order to try and narrow down the problem based on the issue you were having. Make sure you have the game fully closed before testing. Delete the new save you just created. COPY a save from the old Sims 4 > saves folder you renamed into the new Sims 4 > saves folder the game has created. Launch the game and attempt to load the save. If it loads great! Quit without saving and move to step 2 and gradually add your user data into the new Sims 4 folder. If it will not load the issue is with the save file. Quit or Force Quit the game, do not save. The save file may be corrupted due to whatever reason, sometimes this can be because your save may depend on specific Mods or CC to properly load. If this is the case download a new copy of the Mod from the creator and put it in the new Mods folder then relaunch the game. If it works great, move onto step 2. If it doesn't work head over to the Mods forum for further help. Start moving the rest of your user data from your old Sims 4 folder into the new Sims 4 folder, removing the existing files and folders the game has just created. You do this in small batches, loading and quitting the game after adding each batch to test the game is still working. Start by adding the rest of your saves then move onto the Tray folder, then add the Options.ini file, then Screenshots, then Recorded Videos, then VideoCameraStates, then Custom Music, then ConfigOverride, then UserSetting.ini, then accountDataDB.package, then the content folder. All other files and folders can be ignored. Lastly, if you are a Mods user, move over your Mods in small batches (the 50/50 method), do not move the entire Mods folder in one go and ALWAYS make sure the Mods are compatible with the current version of the game. Test the game after adding each batch of Mods. If your game breaks after adding a batch remove that last batch, trash the localthumbcache.package file, then add the Mods in one by one, testing after adding each one. When it breaks again you know the issue is with the last Mod you added. Remove it, trash the localthumbcache.package file again then head over to the creator's website for an updated, compatible Mod, if one exists. If it doesn't DO NOT put that Mod back in your game. For further help with Mods visit the Mods forum. !! Mod users - read this: Some Mods also add or replace files in the core game installation. A clean Sims 4 folder will not touch these files. The only way to fix these files back to the Maxis files is to either manually replace them or repair your game. If the Mod adds files to the game installation you must follow the Mod creator's instructions for disabling the Mod which will hopefully remove the files. If no instructions are available either remove them manually, if you know where they are, or completely uninstall and reinstall the game via EA App. Explanation of important files and folders in the Sims 4 folder: Really important folders in red and highlighted in the screenshot above. accountDataDB.package - contains data for in-game events launched by the Sims team ConfigOverride - if you have edited the core graphics files and stored a copy here, your game will default to the system graphics files within the app if you trash this folder or its contents Content - this is where SDX files are stored until the next patch Custom Music - if you have custom music in your game it is stored here Mods - if you play a modded game this is where your CC and Mods are saved and most likely the culprit of a broken game, especially after a game update lastCrash.txt - files that are sometimes created by the game when it crashes. You may be asked for this if a helper/EA is trying to pinpoint the cause lastUIException.txt - sometimes created when the game encounters an error. You may be asked for this if a helper/EA is trying to pinpoint the cause Options.ini - your in-game graphics and UI settings. This should be trashed to test a laggy game to rule out too higher graphics settings Saves - contains all your saves Screenshots - your in-game screenshots when pressing C Tray - contains the files that make up the Lots/Households/Rooms you have saved to your in-game Library UserSetting.ini - in-game account settings, UI settings, tutorial settings. Delete if having Pack Selection setting issues. VideoCameraStates - your in-game stored camera positions (CTRL + 5,6,7,8). Trash this if your camera is jumping around and misbehaving.10KViews11likes0CommentsCannot Connect to the Gallery

It says "connection required" and when i click go online it just loads forever. PLEASE HELP!!! I cleaned out my mods folder just to make sure I didn't have duplicate mods in the game. Once I was done, I couldn't find the Electronic Arts folder but my saves and mods were still in game. I ended up searching for the EA folder and two came up. It asked if I wanted to replace, I said yes and my entire game was wiped. I tried to use my back up sims 4 folder to add it back to the game and it's not working. Electronic Arts folder doesn't have the sims 4 folder and when I add it in it still doesn't load. I even renamed the folder so a new one could generate but it does not. The Electronic Arts folder has an "EA app" folder and in that folder an "ARD" folder and "machine. ini". When I click on the ARD folder there is a GEADesktop folder that doesn't open when I click on it. I've tried repairing the game, logging out of the app and restarting so a new The sims 4 folder can appear and nothing. That's the only thing that pops up.59Views0likes0Comments
