Information for Mac users running macOS Lion (10.7)
Dear Simmers, We hope you’re all doing well. If you are a Mac user, please read the below! If you currently play The SimsTM 4 and run macOS Lion (10.7) there will be important changes you need to know about. Starting next month, we will be unable to support macOS Lion (10.7). On October 3, 2019 we will release a patch update that will no longer support The Sims 4 on that operating system. If you wish to continue playing the game while running macOS Lion (10.7), do not update The Sims 4 with the October 3 patch, or any future game patches. To prevent the update, you will need to disable automatic updates on Origin. This will allow you to continue playing the game, however, you will not receive any future updates for the base game or be able to play any additional packs released after October 3. macOS Lion (10.7) Q&A How do I disable automatic updates on Origin? To disable Auto-Update in the Origin 9 client: Go to the "Origin" drop-down menu and select "Preferences" In the "General" section, under "Updates," un-check the “Automatically keep my games up to date" option This will prevent automatic updates from being applied to any Origin games you own. You will still be notified when updates are available, but you will need to manually choose to download updates. Make sure not to manually download The Sims 4 updates. Will I have access to the Gallery if I don’t get any additional updates? Yes, you will continue to have access to the Gallery where you can both upload and download content. WIll my progress be saved if I don’t get updates? Yes, your existing game-saves will be preserved. Will I be able to continue playing with all the packs I own? Yes, all packs that you have purchased and installed will still be installed. Any packs you have purchased and have not yet installed will still be available for download from the Origin client. Which packs will I be able to play? You will be able to play all released packs up to and including Realm of Magic.EA_David6 years agoCommunity Admin3.6KViews1like0CommentsThe Sims™ 4: macOS Notarization FAQ
Hi Simmers, With the upcoming patch, the location where some of The Sims 4 game files are stored in macOS will change to comply with Apple’s updated notarization requirements. If you haven’t manually modified any game files, you should be able to install the patch and continue playing as normal. For more information on what’s going to change, please, read the FAQ here.721Views1like0CommentsSims 4 won't open!
I just got a new computer and re-downloaded all my Sims 4 games/packs. When I click "play" (either within the EA app or by clicking on The Sims 4 application) the Sims 4 opens, then immediately closes and redirects me back to the EA app. Please help! I got this new computer to play the Sims and I can't!leahbeeface3 months agoSeasoned Newcomer248Views5likes10CommentsMac users get ready to move from Origin to EA App
I didn’t know which discussion category to put this in, but Sims Community is reporting that Mac users are soon going to be asked to move from Origin to the EA App. See https://simscommunity.info/2023/09/07/ea-app-mac-os-info/ for useful info. This was always inevitable, but I for one have been kind of hoping Mac users might be overlooked and not have to move away. :) Having heard so many negative accounts from Windows users, I’m kind of dreading this. How do others feel?FreddyFox12342 years agoSeasoned Veteran207Views1like9CommentsSims 4 saving error

I updated the game after not playing in 2 years and suddenly my saves are just gone. I checked the saves folder in the files and they're all still there, they just won't show up in the game itself. instead of "load game" showing up, it's just showing "new game". I tried restarting everything from my back up but it still has the same problem :(102Views1like2CommentsI can't find the Games Hub.
I have tried to open on the EA app and the game tile jumps up and down and then won't open. My EA app says I need to update it in the 'Games Hub Menu' but I have no idea where that is? I've tried un-installing it, removing Mods out and it still won't work. I just want to play The Sims.101Views0likes4Commentsmy game is stuck on finalising and will not download

A couple weeks ago in July I tried to log into my game on Sims 4 and it wouldn't let me play. I had tried everything so I just left it alone thinking it would stop. Then a day or 2 ago I tried to play and it said update required so I tried updating and it was stuck on "Preparing" so I just kept force quitting the app to try and fix it and eventually I stopped. Last night I started looking things up and it said clear your cache so I did that and now I'm trying to stop the download so I can re-download but its not letting me stop the download or anything!! i would just like to know what's going on.KekePalmer03 months agoSeasoned Newcomer100Views1like6CommentsCan´t open my EA app

I play the Sims 4 on my mac and had to move from origin to the EA app. After downloading everything in, and trying to play the game, it says that in order to play my last saves i needed to redownload all my expansion packs and restart. After trying multiple times it still says it and I'm so confused as to why my downloaded packs aren't in the game despite it saying on the EA app and on the Sims that my packs are owned. I have also tried repairing the game to see if that would work but it didn't. I was wondering if anybody else had this issue or has resolved it and Im literally willing to try anything. Can anyone pleasee help me bc i don't know what to do anymore!!Solved100Views0likes1CommentMy game will not launch

I don't know if this has been asked lately, but I had extremely helpful advice from users on the old forum about this around seven years ago. Last time, Bluebellflora and others pointed me to a Mac Pro 15 inch 2017 16gb, which had two graphic cards - radeon pro and intel hd graphic - and a fan. The Sims 4 has run brilliantly on it and I've been really glad that I got it. Unfortunately after heavy use the hardware is beginning to show its age a bit, even though the Sims still works just fine. So, I am starting to look around at what Mac laptops are available to replace it. I have some specific questions, but any tips at all will be gratefully received. 1. Is M3 good enough or do you need to go M3 pro or M3 max? 2. My current laptop has a fan, but I understand the new ones are all solid state so this is no longer something to think about? 3. Probably this is a stupid question, but I am have a big saved game and I am most concerned not to lose it when I get a new laptop. I back up my current game on an external harddrive. If I get a new laptop that is compatible with this external hard-drive, will I be able to just plug it in and transfer my current save over with no issues? Are there any pitfalls to be aware of when doing this? 4. General call out - what Mac laptop do you have, and do you recommend it? The last thread I could find on this topic was on the old forum: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Mac/Which-MacBook-is-best-for-Sims-4/td-p/7117235/page/2 Sorry if I'm duplicating a new one though. I'm still trying to get the hang of the new forums. I will delete and copy this post over if necessary.SolvedKLoxxon27 days agoNew Novice93Views0likes4Commentsthe sims4 update problem

I am trying to download the sims 4 on my mac with an external hard drive. On the EA app, when I try to download the game, it immediately says "something went wrong" and that I need to give EA app full disk access in settings. The frustrating thing is that EA app DOES have full disk access in settings. I do not know what to do so that EA will recognize that it has full disk access. I have tried clearing the cache (manually as well), restarting the app, restarting my computer, etc. Please help!!!!ThePrevail3 months agoSeasoned Newcomer89Views1like4Comments
