TS4 stuck on "verifying" and doesn't open
My game sometimes loads and allows me to play but mostly gets stuck on "Verifying 'The Sims 4'". I recently moved my game to an external hard drive to save storage on my Mac, and I think this is the root of the problem since it never happened before this. Is my only option to move the game back to my regular applications folder? I wanted to avoid that since the game is 30GBs with my packs installed.Solvedbeauburning8 days agoSeasoned Newcomer70Views0likes3CommentsGame wont open application not responding
I'm really hoping someone on here could help me. I noticed that my game wasn't letting my Sims use the bathroom, so I updated and repaired it. After I decided to buy two expansion packs, the new royalty one and City Living. After I downloaded these, the game wouldn't open at all. I removed all my mods, downloaded the game again after deleting it. I updated my MacBook and cleared storage; everything re-downloaded, but the game still won't launch. I just get the Spinning Beach Ball of Death. Someone mentioned having a different place where the game boots up, but I'm not sure what to do. I also don't know how to report that the game won't open at all, and I talked to AI for five minutes, and it just asked me the same questions over and over, making me explain myself. Please help me, I've been crying for three days.Solved58Views0likes1CommentGame keeps updating
Hello. I had the Sims 4 on an external hard drive and now it's back on my Mac. I was at first able to open the game, but now, it keeps updating over and over again. I have probably clicked the update button 50 times. I have cleared the cache for the EA app. What can I do so I can play my game?SolvedKaylen502013 days agoRising Newcomer55Views0likes1CommentCannot Rotate Camera or Edit Sim Body Parts in CAS w/ mouse After Update
Platform: Mac 26.3.1 (a) (25D771280a) Mods or Custom Content: None. I have never used mods or custom content. Game Version: 1.123.85.1220 Description: Since 5/6/26, my mouse controls in The Sims 4 have stopped functioning correctly on Mac. I can no longer drag or edit body parts in Create-a-Sim (CAS). I also cannot click and drag to rotate or tilt the camera normally. The mouse wheel only zooms in and out, and right-click only allows edge scrolling. Basic clicking and selecting still works, but most mouse movement controls no longer function. Before this started, the mouse worked perfectly fine. I primarily play using a mouse, and this issue is severely disrupting gameplay because there do not appear to be equivalent keyboard controls on Mac for editing Sims in CAS. The only keyboard controls I’ve found that still work are CMD + Up/Down to tilt and < or > to rotate. I have already repaired the game 4 separate times, bought and tested a completely new mouse, and confirmed that I have no mods or CC installed. Nothing has fixed the issue. I searched older threads and found many players reporting similar problems over the years, but I have not found an actual solution or official fix. I also have a video showing the problem, although I do not think I can upload it here. Has anyone found a real fix for this on Mac?SolvedSeaux_Beena16 days agoNew Novice76Views0likes1CommentCannot launch game - no custom content/mods
Hey, I can open the game, but when I try to load my saved game, it just gets stuck on the loading screen. I do not use custom content/mods. I tried moving the Sims 4 folder out of the EA folder to my desktop, and I was able to create and play a whole new game. Is there a way for me to be able to get back into my saved game, though?Solved1snyvost87aw19 days agoSeasoned Newcomer90Views0likes1CommentUpdated the EA App, Saves Disappeared
I hadn't played for awhile and the EA wanting to make changes pop up kept showing up, where you have to login. And I pressed cancel not thinking much of it. But then I couldn't open the EA app, so I thought the culprit was my mods so I removed my mods and the EA app finally opened, but when I went offline to play the sims because I've been putting off the update that's also on the sims not just the EA app, my saves disapppeared and was telling me to start a new game. All of my saves are gone, all of my storylines. Please explain. Or help. I'm having issues after updating my Sims. I was able to turn on the check mark for the script mods and cc but once I tried recopening the game I keep getting a popup basically saying my mods are bad and out of date. It didnt go away even when I only had updated mods on the folders. All the popular ones arent working, MCC, Basemental, Pandasama, **bleep**, and others. I recently moved my mods and cc to an external SSD but I dont think thats the issue because I was able to open the game once. I repaired it and that didnt do anything. I've removed more than half of my mods already idk what to do.Solved135Views0likes1CommentWhy game so slow

Hello, yesterday I mirrored my MAC screen to another laptop (my own), since then my sims 4 has been having mouse calibration issues on top of other things. When I go into full screen, the sims 4 title on the top of the window will not go away. This in turn has made it so that my cursor to click onto anything has to be below the object I want to click on, instead of the usual click onto the object to select. I've tried resetting my computer, restoring the game, opening and closing the app/game. Nothing seems to be working. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this issue? I attached an image below to give an example of what my screen looks like. I am reporting a persistent issue with The Sims 4 on macOS (Apple Silicon) where the game does not launch at all and exits silently with no error message, crash dialog, or visible log. System information Device: MacBook Pro (M1) macOS: 26.2 (25C56), updated to 26.3 (Tahoe) EA App: latest version The Sims 4: latest version Mods / CC: none (never installed) Expansion packs / DLC: none (base game only; clean, vanilla installation with no additional content) Problem description When launching The Sims 4 (via EA App or directly from the application bundle), nothing happens. No window opens, no error message appears, and no crash report is generated. The process starts and immediately exits. Troubleshooting steps already performed (in order) Basic / common steps Restarted the Mac multiple times Logged out and back into EA App Restarted EA App background services Cleared EA App cache (App Recovery) Ran EA App in offline mode Repaired The Sims 4 via EA App Fully uninstalled and reinstalled EA App and The Sims 4 Verified no mods or custom content are present Deleted all Sims 4 user data (removed Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4) Updated macOS from 26.2 to 26.3 macOS permissions, storage & security 11. Verified Privacy & Security settings 12. Ensured EA App and The Sims 4 have required file access 13. Ensured iCloud-stored game data is fully available locally (Keep Downloaded) 14. Removed quarantine attributes using xattr -cr 15. Verified code signing (codesign --verify --deep --strict, no errors) 16. Verified binary architecture (universal: arm64 + x86_64) 17. Tried launching with and without Rosetta Advanced / terminal diagnostics 18. Launched the game directly from the executable 19. Ran DYLD_PRINT_LIBRARIES=1 for diagnostics Output is always: Launch - 1 cp: logReader.html: No such file or directory The process exits immediately with no further output and no crash report. Current status The Sims 4 never reaches UI initialization No crash logs are generated The issue persists after macOS update and full reinstall The installation is a clean, vanilla base game (no mods, no DLC) The binary is valid and correctly signed This appears to be a macOS Apple Silicon–specific silent launch failure Request Please confirm whether this is a known issue with The Sims 4 on macOS 26.x (Apple Silicon), advise if there is a workaround or fix in progress, and escalate this as a compatibility issue if needed.SolvedBarborkaStranger2 months agoSeasoned Newcomer281Views0likes3Commentscan i delete thumbnails.package?

I haven't played the sims since new the new Feb. update, so I tried to play after updating some of my mods in a new save file and every time it will freeze and then crash within a minute. I tried repairing the game through the EA app, removing mods, and creating a new clean game. It will still crash in CAS; it does seem to crash faster when I try story mode. I have stopped getting crash reports in my EA folder for some reason, but here's a screenshot of the latest one that popped up on my desktop, hopefully this bit of it is helpful.Solvedrainvm303 months agoSeasoned Newcomer135Views0likes2CommentsSims 4 does not launch in macOS Sierra
After the November 12 update, I cannot get Sims 4 to launch on my Mac. Specs: MacBook Pro 14,3 (15-inch, 2017) macOS Sierra (version 10.12.6) 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7 (i7-7820HQ) 16 GB RAM 2133 MHz LPDDR3 Intel HD Graphics 630 1536 MB AMD Radeon Pro 560 4096 MB 512 GB SSD; 67.5 GB available With a clean game folder or otherwise fresh options.ini in place, the right half of my screen would go dark, and the left half would show an enlarged version of what the right half of the desktop would normally look like. With options.ini set to open the game in windowed mode, the TS4 window hung on a white screen indefinitely. In either case, the computer did not respond to cmd-optn-esc, and if I tried to tab or click on something else, it eventually restarted itself. When I once left my laptop alone for 12 minutes, it was still frozen trying to load TS4, and I had to hold down the power button to shut down. I tried these troubleshooting steps, none of which worked: Removing the Sims 4 game folder from Documents\Electronic Arts Running the Origin reset tool Doing a clean uninstall/reinstall of Origin Disabling Origin in-game both globally and for TS4 Turning off every single accessible option in Origin (various notifications, web helper, etc.) Launching while the laptop was not connected to the internet Editing options.ini to match the settings from when TS4 worked last week Resetting NVRAM via key command during startup (not convinced it worked) Resetting NVRAM via Terminal command Forcing the laptop to only use the AMD card via energy settings (thanks to @Bluebellflora for this and the NVRAM suggestions) Installing into a new admin user account that had never seen the game I also booted into safe mode, which produced this fun error: That was probably just because the Metal driver didn't load in safe mode, but still not what I wanted to see. Every time I checked, the game did spawn a clean folder, but the Origin last played date never updated to reflect my attempts to load the game. For what it's worth, my graphics card itself is likely not defective: This Mac is Bootcamped, the game loaded normally in Windows, and GPU-Z says the card performed as expected.Solved39KViews10likes518CommentsNot Enough Space in MacBook

While playing as a sim in The Sims 4, I cannot move my overhead game view forward via my mouse pointer. I can only adjust my "sky" pov to the left, right, and down via my mouse. And, often when I try to move to the left, my mouse gets "stuck" and glitches, then appearing at the bottom of my screen. However, using the arrow keys does work. I think this may be related to upgrading to macOS 26.0, as I had played The Sims right before I updated and was not experiencing this problem.Solvedmoonduster018 months agoSeasoned Newcomer837Views7likes21CommentsCan’t delete mods
I installed some mods quite a while ago and after a bit disabled them in the game. I now want to play with just mc command centre so deleted all the mods from the folder except the one I wanted but they still all show at startup. I’ve tried deleting the entire mods folder, have searched my mac for any hidden mods and repaired the game and they still showed up. My bin is definitely empty. Even deleting the entire mod folder hasn’t worked. I then thought factory resetting by deleting the sims 4 folder within electronic arts would surely fix it even if it meant losing my saves but everything is still there including my saves. I looked to see where the game said my saves were and it says they are in the electronic arts folder which I deleted. I searched in case there was a second one which I’d missed but there’s absolutely nothing. Also searched for the saves themselves with no luck. Not in icloud either. Any ideas?Solved175Views0likes2Comments
