Bottom screen controls not appearing.
None of the controls at the bottom of the screen appear when I try to play a Sim; then when I try to exit and press the Manage Worlds button, the entire screen goes black. I tried repairing the game and uninstalling and reinstalling the EA app, but it keeps happening. I do not use mods at all, so I know that that is not the cause.
Stuck on loading screen
Hi! Does anyone know how to fix the stupid bug where you try to load into your household- and you just get stuck on a loading screen? Everything runs fine until I try to load into my household. I took out the **bleep** mods, UI Cheats, CAS Background, Menu Overrides, MC Command Center- nothing is helping. I even repaired the game, got rid of the localthumbcache...HELP please and thank you :c !
Infinite loading screen blocking access to my saves
Hello, for the past two days I have been completely unable to play The Sims 4 because every time I try to load one of my existing saves, the game gets stuck on an infinite loading screen that never finishes. I have already tried restarting my computer and fully reinstalling the game, but nothing has worked. I am playing on a Mac Pro with an Apple M3 chip, which is clearly powerful enough to run the game, so this issue is not related to my hardware. I am extremely disappointed because I had just started playing again after more than a year away, following a previous bug that already made me stop playing, and now the game has become totally unplayable again. I would like to know if this is a known issue, if there is any current workaround, or if a fix is planned, because at the moment I cannot access my saves at all.My worlds completely reset
Hi! So I purchased the Adventure Awaits and the Enchanted Nature packs a few days ago. When I went on to resume my game, all of the worlds reset, townies included. All of my builds, Renos, etc. are just gone and back to when you start a new game. The last household I was playing was still there, in the house I built for that, but everything else completely reset. All of my mods/ cc show up normally if that's in question. Anyone else encounter this issue and or know if I can fix it?I am so done
I had such a great run with the sims. 2 to 4. I felt like I had finally figured out the flow when it came to the updating such as moving mods, updating them, and so on. Today I finally updated the sims 4 and in the process accidentally deleted all of my saves from my Mac. After an all day process and over $80 later I still don't have a fix. Yes I know, this was my fault. However, it occurred to me that if there weren't so many updates, so many fixes, to so many bugs that EA easily could have avoided. I wouldn't have this problem. This never and I mean NEVER happened in sims 2 or 3. Now It's like EA wants us to move on to greener pastures. If anyone knows how to fix this please help. I rewrote package files and everything but my game won't read the files because they deleted meaning there's something in them that's "unreadable" I've renamed files, I've even used a program to recover them from the abyss. still no luck. Now my game is taking hours to load. I've about had it.Sims game crashing/unplayable
Okay sims team, what the heck is up? Ever since the latest update my game is virtually unplayable. I have done anything and everything I've read about to fix my game, (restart my computer, repair the game, start a new world, etc) but now I can't place roofs, I can't really add sims to my game without it crashing, I started a new save after uninstalling some packs, which then let me add the first household, but now it refuses to let me save or build anything, or play at all. It started with not letting me place roofs, add sims, or save my game, and now it is completely unplayable. I don't use CC or Mods. So what is going on here?
CAS Sliders/Rotation Too Sensitive
I have the same problem. It made it very hard to create Sims. It seems to be a new problem that coincides with the new Sponge Bob kits and/or the Sponge Bob event. I'd say Sponge Bob event update as I got both related kits prior and no problem in CAS. The bug also impacts sliders/fine movements. Adjusting mouth/nose height, width, was incredibly unstable. It is moving way too fast, and in a very unstable way, making fine adjustments impossible. Mods/No mods, same problem. Used MacAir M4 chip track pad/Cheap office mouse/High end gaming mouse to see if it was a peripherals issue but no. Restarted Mac, reconnected devices. Repaired the game. No fixes. Also noticed yesterday the simulation lag was way worse than normal, I had FPS drops, my Mac was heating up more than usual (the game was using more ressources). Routing issues and Sims not following Actions too. Sims were also dropping tasks in a new way. After some amount of time spent Restoring the Fridge and Stove from this Restoration/Workshop Kit, my Sim was stopping the task on his own. Autonomy for Played Sims is Off. Normally the task would stop directly after initiation. The occurence of Sims being Reset without Player action increased too (Played Sims and Townies), especially in the High School (not modified). It made me think about the progressive decline in performances The Sims 3: Island Paradiso World had. Though it was due to a memory leak. Basically the longer I play The Sims 4, the more "bugged" the game becomes. Ive tried restarting and repairing the game it hasn't worked, and than tried deleting cache files like localthumbcache.package , cache folder , cachestr folder , onlinethumbnailcache folder but it still hasnt done anything. It started when I aged up my toddler sim to a child and than I happened and than I moved to my young adult sim so two of them are now glitched. But some of my other sims are fine and working. Ive also restarted my Mac but still doesn't work."Black Square Shadow" Glitch on Mac
Hi everyone, I am reaching out because I'm having a square shadow underneath my Sims. I play with Lighting set to High/Medium. The square disappears if I set Lighting to "Low" or turn Laptop mode on but I want to keep my graphics quality higher. I have tried editing the GraphicsRules.sgr file following several guides: SSAO: I changed SsaoEnabled to true in the $High (and $Medium) settings. Disabling CSM: I tried adding prop $ConfigGroup csmEnabled false to the $High block to disable the sun shadows while keeping SSAO. Transparency Fix: I tried setting HighRezTranslucency to true and RenderExternalDropShadows to true. ConfigOverride: I placed the modified file in the Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/ConfigOverride folder to force the game to read it. It didn't work. Right Now: I repaired the game via the EA App to start fresh. The black box still there. Mac Model: MacBook Pro M1 macOS Version: Tahoe 26.0.1 Thanks so much for your help.Build mode crashing my game
Everytime I leave build mode all the options on the top and bottom of my screen break and disappear, i cant pause or play, i cant choose any of my sims, go back in build mode or save and exit. im forced to go to desktop and forcequit the sims 4 but when I do it doesn’t tell me the game is broken or give me a option to report it.No households show up even without mods/cc
After the most recent update (like two days ago), not a single household shows up in my game, I tried sorting my cc out, playing without mods/cc and it’s still the same, empty. I tried repairing the game, deleting the localthumbcache.package, even backing up my EA folder and creating a brand new one (only adding the files of trays and saves to the new one). Still, no households show up. Am I missing something? Is there a way to fix it? Is it just the update?game not working
the game loads, however, once in a saved file it lags continuosly and whenever I press a key to move around it gets stuck and infinitely moves in that direction. it's impossible to click anything and even rotating the camera doesn't work and triggers that infinite shift from before. the game keeps getting stuck, making it impossible to play. this is also valid in build/buy mode. I already tried repairing the game but doesn't work.Sims 4 Crashing on MacBook Pro Monterey
Posting on behalf of my sister cause she doesn't want to create her own account: She has a 2016 MacBook Pro running Monterey OS (the highest she can update) and since the latest update the game crashes as soon as she tries to do anything in the game. We followed the instructions on How to Troubleshoot and Test a Broken Game. She repaired the game and it still crashed as soon as she opened her household. Then we tested a new game, with a new Sims 4 folder, and the game crashed again as soon as she had her new Sim try to cook. The next step said to create a new thread here if that happened, so here we are. Any help would be greatly appreciated!HELP all games gone
I was installing a mod but then decided to take it off and when i did, i kid you not, EVERY game/world i had created in my sims was gone. I dont know how to get it back but all I know is that everything is gone, all my progress is gone and all my real life turned game is also gone. I had an attachment to the games aswell. If anyone knows how to help please do thanksGame save files not on saves folder?
Had to wipe my Mac hard drive and now I can't find 5+ years' worth of progress saves. They should be in the saves folder in The Sims 4 folder which I have backed up on My Passport for Mac, and they are, but I tried importing the saves in there into the new folder and realized only one of the first ever families created when first getting the game were in there. It's as if the following saves ended up somewhere else, but I don't know where. I've been through every folder and copied all the files from the backup to the computer. Anyone have Amy ideas? Pls pls pls help!Game fails to launch on Mac
Hey, so I just got a new computer, it runs on Sonoma 14.5. I installed the EA App and my Sims 4 as always, which is that the game itself is installed on an external drive due to limited space on Mac (I had it this way on my previous Mac and it worked without any issues on Origin). Now I did the same and everything is installed correctly but as soon as I try to play, I get the pop-up "game failed to launch, it's a problem on our end, please try again later". I've tried for 3 days now, repaired the game, repaired EA app, everything. I can't remove the folder from the documents because I don't have one - assuming the system didn't automatically create it since the game wasn't launched even once on this computer. I'm literally running out of ideas
All Households Disappeared
Hello, I'm currently having an issue with The Sims 4. I updated the game, and then when I started to play the first time, all my households were there, but when I went to create a new household, the sims don't show in CAS mode, so I couldn't see any of the sims or edit them. I did receive a "couldn't recognize my graphics card" warning and I just bypassed it, and I just created a random household to see if it works or not. It didn't. So I restarted the game hoping it would fix that, but when I restarted, all my households completely disappeared. When I tried to recover or load a saved game, the whole game just crashes. I removed all my mods and put them on my desktop but the issue is still there. I repaired the game and that didn't do anything either. What should I do?
