[SOLUTION] Sim 4 Initialization error at start up OR Sims 4 is Already Running
Sims 4 unable to start: initialization error at start up. [135dec40:29f00e76:00000084:18a1dd51] I reinstalled and updated windows 10 to version 1709, Installed origin then installed sims 4, error popped up every time. Sometimes it would say Sims 4 already running. turned out to be windows defender. I didn't have a antivirus installed and was just using Windows Defender. This is what i did. Open Windows Defender Click Virus & Threat protection Click Virus & Threat protection settings Scroll down to controlled folder access "Turn off" if you don't want to turn it off then: Click Allow an app through controlled folder access Click Add an allowed app Browse to your origin games\The sims 4\game\bin folder select TS4.exe click open if your running 64 bit select TS4_x64.exe click open I'm on 64 bit windows and I added both. Startup origin and try running the game again. Worked for me, hope it helps.

Applying DX11 to The Sims 4 on a compatible PC can result in better performance, smoother animations, and overall improved gameplay experience. Please note that DX11 is not available for PlayStation or Mac systems. In our latest updates we have defaulted players using NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards to Direct X 11. NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards Players using NVIDIA or AMD graphics cards are now automatically set to use DirectX 11. If you had previously opted into DirectX 11 manually, please remove the "-dx11" argument to ensure smooth gameplay. Instructions are provided below. Note: If the "-dx11" argument is not removed, players will not have the option to view or select the DirectX 9 option from the in-game settings. Intel or other graphics cards Players using any other graphics cards, including Intel, will continue to enjoy The Sims 4 on DirectX 9 with an update to DirectX 11 to come at a later date. However if you would like to switch to DirectX 11, please follow the steps provided below. Crashing with the November 10 Update
Hi, Simmers. Following the latest game update, we have noticed an uptick in crashes on PC, Mac, and especially PS4. We are working on resolving the issue as quickly as possible and appreciate your patience. The current ETA is next week. Meanwhile, you can use the workaround below. It means you won’t have any sound, however the game should run without the audio-related crashes. If you find concise reproducible steps for getting a crash or for audio going away on its own, your input would be very helpful in Answers HQ. Thank you for your help and patience. -SimGuruNick HOW TO DISABLE AUDIO Adding the -nosound argument on PC and Mac disables audio at a core level to avoid the audio-related crashes for the time being. Origin (PC/Mac) Go to “My Game Library”. Right click on The Sims 4 and select “Game Properties”. Select the “Advanced Launch Options” tab. In the “Command line arguments” text field, add -nosound and select “Save”. Steam Go to “Library”. Right click on The Sims 4 and select “Properties”. Click the “Set Launch Options...” button. Add -nosound in the text field and click “OK”. PS4 You can try adjusting the master volume in the Game Options to be 0%. We have had mixed results with this. - source
